A Time for Gratitide: TOLT

My thoughts, like most of us in the United States, have turned to Thanksgiving this week and yes, I’m  Thinking Out Loud about all the surrounding hoopla and work. And maybe throwing in just a wee bit of gratitude, too.

‘Tis the season.

Still time for Christmas Shipping
At least that’s what a catalog I was perusing last week informed me.

It wasn’t even Thanksgiving yet, I should hope I’d get something I order from the catalog by Christmas! Proofread fail or just same old, same old holiday rushing?

Black Friday Starts Before Thanksgiving???
And speaking of shopping, my inbox has been flooded with “deals” for the last week. BOGO! Better Than Black Friday!

I guess retailers have caught on that a lot of people shop online now.

It Gets Complicated All on Its Own
I always say it when I entertain, which is rare: I’m going to keep it simple. No matter how simple I keep it, it still gets complicated!

But then I can breathe a sigh of relief
Just as y’all are deep in the midst of yet more holiday shenanigans, I can finally relax for oh, maybe a month! Because I’m Jewish, the dark Christmas season is the time to hibernate in the house for the most part.

Of course if I hadn’t let my house get into such a mess in the first place I wouldn’t be this tired from cleaning and decluttering.

But it’s amazing what you find
As I was moving jackets out of our very small front hall closet so guests can hang their coats, I found a little not little raincoat I didn’t even remember I had.

I like it because it has a hood and my 3 other raincoats don’t (jut call me the coat hoarder). Did I ever even wear it? Probably on some trip to Seattle. But unfortunately it’s a large. I like my coats one size up, but I’m not a large.

I do have a bunch of stuff I really need to get tailored. I wonder if it’s worth it to have it taken in?

And finally, let’s give thanks
As I mentioned yesterday, I have a lot to be grateful for. It’s been a hard year in many ways, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been many good time, too. And I am grateful for so many things, for my fellow running bloggers, and so much more.

If you’re in the US, enjoy yourself (and maybe go for a run).

How many of you are doing turkey trots?

I’m linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons for her:

Thursdays are for thinking out loud

  1. If you really like that coat you can ask how much for them to take it in and see if it’s worth it for you. I’m doing a virtual turkey trot with the slow runners club.

      1. It was pretty cold so I did it on the treadmill. I decided to go for an hour and got in 4.8 miles including 10 minutes walking warmup and cool down. It may have offset a tiny bit of the too many potatoes I ate 😉

    1. I’m not sure I got to see a lot of everyone enjoying themselves . . . but everything went off fine.

Yes, it is a hassle, but so was having to travel. Tiring as it was, it was a win-win because my sister was sooooooo happy she didn’t have to do it!
