Cyper shopping, racing all the races: spilling over high tea

I am joining up with CocoDeborah, and Lynda for their ultimate coffee date even though I only drink tea (and hot chocolate). Tea is a year round thing for me, but hot chocolate is a cold-weather only thing.

Even though it’s been unseasonably warm in these parts, that just means it’s cold instead of really cold. Except for the occasional sunny day, it’s been cloudy, raw, sometimes rainy, and windy.

I haven’t had my first hot chocolate yet, but mix it with some PB2 and it’s a great recovery snack.

The Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were enjoying high tea . . .
I would tell you that life has gotten back to normal, whatever that really is, after Thanksgiving.

Seriously, in that week before the holiday I was going from morning to night with barely a break (other than running/yoga/strength training) and I was just beyond exhausted most days.

So much so that when we got some new meds for Chester, I put them in the wrong container and then wasn’t quite sure what was what! Luckily my husband helped me figure it out and Chester seems ok so he must have gotten it right.

Just a few of my regular teas
If we were enjoying high tea . . .
I would tell you that yes, Chester is still hanging in there. There are good days and bad days, but so far mostly good days (read more about Chester here).

Back in October when he was doing so poorly I had to stay home from our trip out west, I swear I cried every day. But there have been no tears since. It’s our new normal, I guess, until it isn’t.

If we were enjoying high tea . . .
I would tell you that I might actually be at/have gone to high tea by the time you read this.

I am joining a friend for a Jingle Bell 5k and then we’re going to a tea house we haven’t been to yet.

An organized pantry is a thing of beauty
If we were enjoying high tea . . .
I would tell you that I am enjoying my partially decluttered home. There is more work to be done, but I took a break after Thanksgiving.

I especially enjoy my almost organized pantry. There are still some areas I haven’t gone through, and of course the other night I was looking for something I was sure was in there only I could no longer find it.

But I can find more things than I can’t now. I love my labeled mason jars!

I would tell you that I may just have gone a bit overboard shopping over black friday/cyber monday. Without ever setting foot in a brick and mortar store.

Damn you, Amazon Prime! Actually, Amazon Prime wasn’t to blame. It was some good deals and knowing that if I wait too long, my size is sold out.

Luckily one of our credit cards has a program where they will refund you the difference if they (or you) can find a lower price up to 2 months after you buy the item. It’s how I got my first pair of Newtons at almost half price . . . eventually.

If we were enjoying high tea . . .
I would tell you that today is my fourth race in 5 weeks and I have another fun run coming up in a couple of weeks. I can’t travel right now, I can’t even get out for a movie, but by golly, I can race!

Tea? Iced Tea? Coffee? Decaf? Or something else?

What do you need to get off your chest?

Good cyber Monday deals?

  1. Oooo, I prefer tea too! Never touch coffee! I’m going to have to try that PB2 in my hot chocolate! I’ve heard so much about it this year! As for your 4th race in 5 weeks… you go girl! Races are priority, of course, but Chester always has to come first right now!! So while you can’t travel or go to a 3-hour movie, a race works perfectly into the schedule!! 😀 Hope it goes/went well!!

    1. Well, the reason I had to transfer them was my husband’s organization method for them, because once a week he feeds them (sometimes).

He gets some meds 2 x day & others 3 x day & of course these 2 were different.

At least I realized what I had done!

  2. 4 races in 5 weeks? That is amazing! I am running tomorrow and I am looking forward to it. We have back to back long weekend trips planned and I am super happy about that 🙂 My packages from cyber Monday are coming in too- love it! Good luck this weekend!

    1. Had a good race today & met someone through my friend that I really clicked with. She’ll be at my next race in a couple of weeks, too, but it’s a big one & can be hard to find people. Enjoy your trips!

  3. Enjoy your races! I got a few nice deals online over the Black Friday-Cyber Monday period. Just waiting for a few to get here. Free shipping ended up equaling super slow shipping in some cases!

  4. I don’t know what I’d do without Amazon Prime! I vow not to go to a large retail store this season. I hope, anyway. I hope you had fun at the Jingle 5k. Our local one was today. I debated over going and just run/walking with the dogs, but I couldn’t bring myself to pay $40 for that.

  5. I would love to hear how you like your Newtons. Someone else mentioned the brand recently but I haven’t seen them here. You have a lot of races. They pretty much stop here in Dec and January and if there were some, they were cancelled because of the terrorist attacks.

    1. I got my first pair of Newtons this summer & really fell in love with them. I actually buy them via Amazon; usually the best price.

They’re not for everyone; one of my running buddies bought some & had to return them.
