Mostly it was a quiet week, but I was able to run outside for all my runs — been a while since I’ve done that. I was awaiting a Skirtsports shipment (remember use code CRJ20 for 20% off your regularly priced items) and really hoping that it would arrive Saturday so I could try out new stuff on Sunday’s run and potentially wear it in next week’s race, but alas, no packages for me.
It should come this week, and now I have to decide on whether or not I want to gamble on new clothes in a race.
I did take my new Brooks Ghost 8 out for my LSD (I’ve run in the Ghosts before, but it was several years ago). I ran 5 miles in them earlier in the week, then just jumped to 9 — seemed to go well.
Don’t forget to let us know how your week went at the Weekly Wrap from Holly @ Hohoruns and Tricia @ Misssipppiddlin.

Running update
It wasn’t nice springlike weather this week, but it was sunny, at least occasionally, and I was able to get in all my runs outside. And I didn’t even have to walk around any ice!
My ankle was feeling normal a lot of the time, which led me to simply forget taping it for Tuesday’s run. It was not happy with me at all.
The good news is that it was mostly back to normal the next day, but you can bet that I didn’t forget to tape it for Thursday’s run, which made a huge difference. And Thursday’s run was a tough one: tempo to hill repeats, not my favorite workout, but since I have a hilly half next weekend (as part of a relay team, I’m not doing the whole half – not in half condition yet!), I knew I needed to get in some hillwork before it.
By Saturday my ankle felt completely normal again. Sometimes it’ll feel achy/stiff when I get up in the morning or after I’ve been sitting around for a while; not Saturday.
Sunday I met up with Darlene and another friend for our long run. Since the other friend is faster, I ended up running on my own. Which is probably a good thing, although I ended up with a 12:28 average pace for those 9 miles, which is good for me, especially considering it was quite hilly.
I haven’t decided whether or not I should do hill repeats again next week, or just do two easy runs before the race.
Weekend Favorites
This weekend was very quiet, again. Really nothing much going on Saturday at all, which was actually rather raw and chilly.
After our run we met up again for afternoon tea. I got a cupcake this time! Last time, for whatever reason, my friend got a cupcake and I did not, and I really wanted one. This time I got one and I devoured it. The citrus green tea scone was really good, too.
Seriously, that was my excitement for the week.Sometimes that’s not a bad thing!
And that’s a wrap!
Are you team cupcake or team pie (or both)?
Team Cupcake all the way!! Love that beautiful blue sky! A half relay! That sounds so fun! And the high tea…perfect!

Team cupcake!!!! I only like pie crust…lol!!
That picture of the view from Blatnick Hill is beautiful!!
I say easy runs this week , sounds like you got in some good hill work last week.
I have hills all around me but I avoid them like the plague-which I know I shouldn’t….I will pay for it in a few weeks when I run the Charlottesville 10 miler.
Have a great week Judy!

I like pretty much everything, but I have to admit I love the portion control of a cupcake (and the icing). It’s just enough to be satisfying.
Although I’m really fond of PB Chocolate pie, too!
I would think hills would be very hard on your knee. We’re on the same wavelength, though, I woke up thinking I’ll just do a couple of easy runs this week, and maybe some strides on the run earlier in the week. I’m only doing a bit under 8, but it’s a hilly bit under 8!

i”m with you–nothing new on a run. I ordered a singlet from Nike, which I planned to wear for Sarasota. Well, I tried it out last week at my workout with Becky, and no, it won’t be going on the trip with me. Itchy and scratchy.

Too bad the singlet was itchy. 😦
This is such a weird time of year clothing wise, but I swear I say that all year long!

Definitely team cupcake….I am not a pie fan.

I like pie: peanut butter chocolate, chocolate pecan, french silk pie. 🙂 Actually, I really do like blueberry, cherry, and apple pies too.
But I like the portion control of cupcakes!

Team both! I don’t discriminate! The citrus green tea scone sounds delicious! And I use Deva Curl too. LOVE it! There’s nothing better on my hair.

I wasn’t really quite sure of it, but the other choices were savory or plain buttermilk, and I’m glad I got it!
Devacurl definitely brings the curl. 🙂

I would definitely choose a cupcake over pie; and make that chocolate with white icing, please. Hope your ankle continues to feel better!

Actually, chocolate with peanut butter icing – or chocolate icing & PB filling – even better.

I know it’s un-American, but I loathe chocolate and peanut butter together, so I’ll pass. 😉

I don’t know about unamerican, but it’s my favorite! Consider yourself lucky you don’t like it.

That’s for tea idea. I loved it but I am definitely TEAM PIE. I love fruit pies esp apple.
How’s the ankle? Those shoes look much more supportive than the Newtons that you love.
See you Sunday.

I still love my newtons – which got me through my half & stockadeathon – almost wore them but decided to go with the ghosts. I’ve worn them before for a half ; I just hate that they never go on sale!
The ankle’s ok; still not normal though. Just enough to be annoying & time consuming.

Team cupcake ! I am not a pie person at all…
Love your photos with the bright sun, though I can tell it is chilly. I have had to run Inside because of bad weather last week and travel this week. I was a dripping mess this morning because no air conditioning in the hotel…. gross. And boring. I SO PREFER running outside.
I hope your ankle is feeling better.

No AC in Mexico? I’d die! I’ve only been to Mexico on cruises. A little too scared to have to stay there & drink the water!

Tea sounds lovely! Being southern (although that may not be the reason!), I’ve never been to tea. I think I need to correct that. I’ve worn a brand new SkirtsSport skirt in a race and it felt just like my old one. Unless it’s a completely different style, you probably don’t need to worry. I’ve always read it takes two weeks to recognize training gains. Along that line, you wouldn’t get anything from your hill work this week. I’m certainly not the expert — just take that with a grain of salt!! That picture from Blatnick Hill is gorgeous. Look at that sky! Thanks for linking with us Judy!

I had 2 orders from Skirtsports, and wouldn’t you know the one with the more summery clothes arrived, and I’m still waiting for the one with the clothes I might consider for this race? Of course the weather is going back & forth, too.
Anyway, it’s a relay, not a full half, so I’ll be running less than 8 miles. Although a hilly less than 8 miles!
I did decide not to do hill repeats this week. The race this weekend is a tune up race, and my half in May will be quite hilly, so I do need the practice.
But I decided better to be rested up for it than not.
And you certainly know a lot more than me, Coach Hoho! 🙂

Cupcakes get me excited too what are you talking about? I do love running with friends but i also like running my pace and meeting up before and going our own pace and meeting back up is just perfect for me! I’m glad your having great weather and your right if the sun is out it makes even the coldest days better! Have a great week Judy!

I like to be pushed — sometimes, not always — so running with someone faster (or just chasing them) works. And it always feels so much easier if I’m chatting with other people!
I was very pleased with my pace Sunday all on my own, though.
