Last Friday I shared with you some favorite recipes from Ambitious Kitchen; this Friday is also favorites with the Friday Five from Cynthia from You Signed Up for What?, Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, and Mar from Mar on the Run. So I’m taking the easy way out and just sharing some favorites from the week!
Cinnamon Roll French Toast
Trader Joes makes a cinnamon roll bread that is really good — no doubt because each small slice has 9 grams of sugar. It’s actually been sitting in my freezer for at least 6 months, but this week I hit it up for French Toast. Twice.
I actually still managed to lose weight this week, which is sort of a mystery considering the sodium from the soup I was drinking all week and the sugar in this French Toast (I top it with nut butter, not syrup, so there’s that) and the fact that I ran right before my meeting, too.
New Frolic print from Skirtsports
I shared this on instagram (I’ll follow you if you follow me!) but this new print is just so cheery and cute and I want it in everything that Skirtsports offers (don’t forget Code CRJ20 for 20% off regularly priced items).
Scenes from my run
Yup, I got out for a couple of quick runs and enjoyed the wildlife at the park. Even if the ducks swam away from me.
I was actually concerned for the cow nearest the fence in the photo abvoe — she stuck her head through the fence, but as soon as I stopped to take a photo she pulled it back in.
Sushi . . . twice
On Sunday my appetite was beginning to come back, but I still didn’t have the energy to actually get changed and go out, so we ordered sushi in (yes, one of my favorite places delivers, but sadly we couldn’t use the coupon Mr. Judy had).
He also had another coupon that was expiring on Tuesday, and we did go out so that we could use it then. We rarely go out to eat twice in one week, and definitely not sushi twice in one week!
Works for me. In the photo above I’m dressed to go to my Weight Watchers meeting, although I did wear a different dress and some heels to go out on Tuesday!
Finishing Outlander*
I have one more episode to watch, actually, but I should definitely finish it by the end of the weekend. A lot of nudity in it, and I do think a lot of it was actually kind of gratuitous, although some of it is important to the plot. I just think they went overboard.
I think they did a fairly good job with most of the casting, except for Frank. He definitely wasn’t as cute as I’d pictured him in my mind.
Talk to me. Leave a comment or answer a question:
Do you pay attention to the sugar in foods?
What would be your pick for your last meal?
What was a favorite from your week?
My brother loves cinnamon roll french toast. I do pay attention to sugar in foods but I still eat things that are high in sugar sometimes. I don’t know what my last meal would be.

Mine would probably be sushi & some kind of chocolate PB pie (maybe with a sundae, too).
How’s that for some sugar? 😊

Mine would probably include a brownie sundae (coffee ice cream).

Yes I pay attention to sugar and haven’t bought that bread for that very reason. I can just imagine how delish it is though. Our fave sushi place used to put a discount in this school fundraiser card we’d always buy just for the sushi deal. Alas no longer. Sigh. Glad you’re feeling better!

Ya gotta live every once in a while! I’m careful about sugar most of the time but I’ve gotta say it was really good!

I have both sets for season 1 and am waiting for season 2. I don’t think the nudity was too much, especially compared to some other shows on cable. I’m still stuck on book 5, but I’m reading chunks of it to finish. I hope book 6 has better pacing because I don’t want to stop reading the series just yet.

I think I’ve read them all but it’s been a while. We haven’t had cable in a while; maybe you can tell? 😉

I buy Cinnabon bread and make french toast for my boys with that. OMG it’s good.

I didn’t even know that was a thing — cinnabon bread! Definitely sounds dangerous!

I had sushi this wk twice as well. I could eat that everyday. And I usually do when I go to work since I work at a sushi bar and seafood grill. Yum!

Sushi every day . . . I could totally do that! Do you get a nice discount where you work? That would work for me! 🙂

When I was pregnant, all I wanted to eat was French Toast and Strawberries. Nothing else tasted good (until I moved on to beans, cheese, and corn tortillas). I’m really going to have to try that now with the cinnamon bread… the picture is making me want some. 🙂
These days I do try to pay attention to the sugar in food, which then leads back to the good old Atkins diet, doesn’t it… high protein, high fat, low carbs. I should’ve been a weightlifter instead of a runner. 😮

I definitely wouldn’t consider myself to eat Atkins at all. I do have to pay attention to sugar, though, mainly because it pretty much wreaks havoc with my weight.
Which doesn’t mean I don’t eat it, obviously! I wonder what the heck I would’ve craved had I ever been pregnant? Interesting to muse on!

Definitely something fun to muse on, because I didn’t eat a lot of French Toast BEFORE I got pregnant, but had to have it all the time when I was, haha!

I go through phases with french toast. I really love it, but I don’t eat a whole lot of bread usually.

No I don’t pay attention to sugar content. But I only really eat sweet stuff when I am outside the house. but some weeks I go out often.
I have given up on heels I think I’ve given all away. The things I do for running.
I ever eat sushi. I like it but don’t crave it. My last meal would be pizza and ice cream.

I’m that way about pizza — I like it, but don’t crave it. Garlic bread is a very different story, I destroyed some last night. 🙂
I don’t wear heels often, and less since the ankle thing, but since the ankle has been better I do like to wear heels every now & again. But I don’t have a bunion . . . at least not yet.

I’m waiting impatiently for Frolic to come out in the Redemption Capris. I haven’t placed my order yet because I’m waiting and waiting…I check every day haha!!
I feel like I’ve mentioned this here before but I really dislike the casting for Claire. I like the actress but she’s too thin and her eyes aren’t whisky colored. Blah. I think they’re doing a great job with the show in general, though! I love the costumes and the acting is great!

I’m not sure I’d get Frolic in the Redemptions (although I love them!), more likely enchanted for those. But I hope we’re still a ways away from needing capris! Probably not up here. 😦
I do want it in the Tough Girl top, but same deal, won’t need that for a while, thankfully!
I might try Enchanted in the Redemptions — sometimes prints are not my friends in those!

Seeing this Cinnamon Roll French Toast reminds me I have a treat next week for yall in the form of a post! Look for it Wednesday.
I’d love to see how you made these they do look great! Hard?

Well, it’s just french toast using the cinnamon roll bread. So just soak it in a an egg with some almond milk (or whatever milk you use) and fry it in some butter.
French toast is super easy. And yummy. 🙂

Yes, I pay attention to sugar all the time because it gets addicting for me. I am currently trying to really clean my eating up during the marathon training cycle…. more on that later !
My week was depressing because it meant back to work and no vacation, in addition to a nagging achilles ache. Ugh.
I love taking cow and duck photos !

Oh, I hope that achilles gets in line soon! It’s always something. 😦
Sugar is definitely addicting to me, but my main problem with it is that it is definitely behind most weight gains!

Honestly I don’t keep a tab on the sugar I consume or the fats or any of that. I practice yoga diligently and I feel that that’s enough to burn most of the unwanted stuff. I do a complete medical profile for my body once in 6 months just to ensure that all parts are functioning well. ^_^
As for my last meal, could I pick ice cream and some warm walnut brownie??? 😉

Ah, you are young and lucky that yoga alone does it for you. I love my yoga, although it’s been almost nonexistant lately, but I can definitely tell you that alone is not enough for this body. I wish it were!
Your last meal sounds good to me. 🙂

Lol! As you know I’m obsessed with low sugar😆😆😆 it works for me😊😊

I know it would be easy to get to where I wanted to weightwise if I just ditched sugar altogether, but it ain’t happening.
I do keep an eye on it though!

Life has to be worth living! I don’t judge anyone else for their choices😊 If I make a cosidered decision to have something sweet that’s ok, but nowadays I just try to say no as much as possible😊
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, I don’t judge either. Although maybe Mr. Judy . . . but that’s because I want him to feel good.
We’re all better off without the sweets, I just try to limit mine. To some degree. 🙂
You might think otherwise if you followed my instagram, tho!
