Running Updates

Monday
Fasted run along (or above) the Snake River. Despite the hot days the mornings are cool.

Wednesday
Easy run along the Wood River. Surprised the 5000 ft elevation didn’t seem to effect my pace.

Thursday
Another easy run where I got to watch paragliders.

Saturday
I’ll have lots to say about Freakin Fast Half later, but I ran down a mountain & ID is done.

Favorites of the week
Still on the road so here’s a peak at what we got up to this week:

This week I am also linking up with the Sunday Fitness & Food Linkup brought to you by Ilka @ Ilka’s Blog and Angela @ Marathons & Motivation.

Let’s get the conversation started:

Do you have a favorite state you’ve run in?

Do you know where your next big race will be?

What was the highlight of your week?

  1. Everything looks beautiful. I hope the race was everything you expected. At least it was downhill and you did really well.

Palm Springs is the most beautiful place I’ve run in. But I don’t do half marathons for the scenery (obviously since I have run so many in the rain and in NYS or Florida).

Next big race is Montreal and then Paris – neither is a goal race – both just for run.

Highlight of the week was a 5k race. I love racing and meeting up with friends at a race.

  2. That is so beautiful! I’ve never been to that state. Clearly, I need to visit!

Hmm…my favorite state to run in? Well, that’s a tough one. Favorite state I’ve raced in or favorite state I’ve run in? Run in would be California. Running along the Monterey Bay is an experience that just can’t be beat. Raced in would be …. I guess Virginia because that was the state I grew up running and racing with my dad in!

Interestingly enough, my next big race is in Virginia. LOL

Highlight of my week? Baking muffins with my favorite redhead today. It’s been an expensive week and that was a nice break from it all. 🙂

    1. You’ll have a blast there, too, I’m sure! You’ve waited even longer for that than I did for this vacation — just (it’s been more than a year since our last real vacation — we’ve had a weekend here & there but not even many of those.

  3. Mr. Judy has wanted to come to ID for a long time. We worked on the east coast since we live there, but we’re also working on the states around WA since we go a couple off times a year, usually.

Race recap probably won’t be out til next week, we’ve got to make it through o’Hare tomorrow with thunderstorms predicted at home. Oy!

  4. You found some lovely spots for your runs this week! And aren’t Idaho’s waterfalls amazing? I wouldn’t have guessed that, but we saw several when we were there a few weeks ago.

  5. Wonderful photos!

Favourite place to run is Iceland, my first marathon and I will go back and do it again one day.

Next big race – the Canal Canter on 11 August – 18 miles round the canals with my friend Bernice and lots of cake and drink stops.

  6. The weather finally cooled down for a nice run with my wife on Sunday! My favorite place to run is the area around my in-laws lake house. It’s hilly enough to be challenging, but also so peaceful!

  7. Gorgeous pictures Judy. It’s great to hear the 5,000 feet didn’t affect your run. I could surely feel it just walking around in Denver. Your new hat coordinates so well with all of your outfits too. Love the color combo. I’m looking forward to hearing about the race. Thanks for linking!

    1. I actually took a supplement — it was like Nuun on steroids (well, Nuun plus some extra stuff for the elevation) — it really seemed to help. It’s called Aclimate, btw.

I’ve run at elevation for the previous two years, and I was always so sloooow, but all of vacation I hit my normal paces.

I don’t know how you & Teresa survived your full in CO. OMG, my shins & calves were soooooo sore.
