Business as usual: 3/23-29 WRD

Sort of. Ok, obviously it’s not completely normal, but in general things are going along okay so far here. I hope that it is with you guys, too. We adjust and we just pray and have to have faith that we will get through this.

Running Update

Snow in Spring? Now that actually is normal

Tuesday
I’m trying to remember this run, I truly am. I think it was a decent run. Obviously nothing memorable. The only thing memorable was the 6″ of snow the day before, of course, but that’s the nice thing about Spring snow: it melts quickly.

There was lots of walking coming up this hill

Friday
Initially Saturday looked like the better day, but my body didn’t want to run Thursday, Sunday looked to be a washout, so Friday it was for my long run. Turned out it was a beautiful day. The run was hard, because I chose a very hilly path.

I got further on this particular path than I have before, and there’s one really steep hill then lots of rolling hills. I discovered there’s also an insanely steep hill further on after the really steep hill, LOL! There was a lot of walking, it was slow, but I finished. Too soon, as it turns out . . . I could easily have made it a 9 mile run but I just had a very long cool down walk.

Running through raindrops

Sunday
The radar showed a potential break in the rain, but good thing I had mentally prepared myself to get wet, because I did. At least I didn’t get poured on. 4 miles to burn off a frustrating morning.

Trying to keep local restaurants afloat & trying new ones, too

Favorites of the week
We’re still going around the world with delivered food. This week it was Greek, and it was yummy: mine was Spanokopita appetizers and a Vegan Gyro. Both were yummy. I do kind of feel divided, worrying a bit that maybe we’re putting ourselves at risk. We get the food out of the packaging, wash our hands, then spritz the counter with cleaner. After all, I’m still grocery shopping too (although not as often).

It was cold out there yesterday — I feel for those swimsuit models!

I really needed a good head shot for a project I’ve been working on for my YouTube channel (you can check it out here, of course) and although we’ve tried a few times, we just weren’t successful . . . until yesterday. We got quite a few good ones. This is not one I’m using, unfortunately Lola came out blurry. Hadn’t planned to have the dogs in there but they wanted to participate. 🙂

Are you doing all the cooking?

Are you afraid of going live on Facebook? I know I’ve been resisting it!

#teamtraining or #teammaintenance? For now I am still training, at least until I find out if the half end of June is a go or not. If it’s cancelled, I’ll be back to maintenance.

Coming up on Tuesday: I’m wrapping up March. I am hoping to get out another Yin Video and Mediation video next week, but not quite sure how that will go yet.

  1. That’s a beautiful photo of you (and Lola, of course, albeit blurry)!!
Sound like a nice run with the hills. What frustrating thing happened that you needed to burn off with 4 miles?

    1. Yeah, I know Lola was blurry, but hey, Bandit tends to get more time on the blog. Mr. Judy is a very talented photographer, and I was so happy to finally get some great photos!

I’d rather not rehash this morning. That was what the running was for. 🙂

  2. Glad you are doing well and staying healthy. Lots of dog walks in there… they keep us sane don’t they, ☺. We got delivery last night, I wore gloves to carry the bag inside, cut the bag away from the food, pulled the food out, threw the bag and my gloves away, then sanitized everything. I think it’s what I have to do to ease the stress. 🤣

  3. I like the photo.

I’m cooking. We don’t do take out really and not because of the virus.

Still training because I’ll do all my long races virtually if they are cancelled.

My job is online training. I am live on webex almost everyday.

But FB live is very common.

I try to avoid the computer outside of work and even blog on my phone.

I prefer zoom because I like seeing and talking to everyone.

    1. That photo is nice, but there are a lot of even nicer ones! I just have to work on some resizing and editing. Lots to choose from. I think we both sort of had fun (except I was cold!). I had another idea for a location (in our yard) we might try out when it dries out. Of course I got that idea on the run today.

  4. I also like that photo! I cook here and there a few things. My mother does most of the cooking (I help whenever I can). That Greek food looks yummy! I’ve been wanting some Thai food but keep resisting because we have a lot of food in the house. Ugh, but I crave some Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Yum.

  5. I love the photo of you, Judy! Looking good!!! I am totally tired of cooking EVERY DAY!!! Ugh! We had gotten used to going out on the weekends. I should try some take-out just for some variety.

  6. Love that photo of you! I think it’s great that you are branching out to FB live. My kids want me to do some FB live or IG live may try it this week. Glad things are going ok for you this week. Thanks for linking up

    1. The good thing about FB Live is you actually don’t see anyone, LOL (which is also kind of weird, and why I am staring in the camera at the end, because I couldn’t see where the button to finish it was.

I have resisted it a long time. Now that I’ve done it, I’ll definitely be doing more. Far easier than doing a video for YouTube!

  7. We’re still doing take out and doing the same measures as you. And tipping well of course, these people are putting themselves at risk! But I can’t cook every night…I’m not that good at it 🙂

    Love the new headshot!

    1. I agree, like grocery store workers, these people are putting themselves at risk AND usually doing it with a smile. I am very grateful!

I’m a good cook, and I like to cook, but i do get tired of it (and my husband gets tired of healthy meals, LOL!).

      Thanks, Jessie!

  8. I didn’t even notice the picture is blurry… and nope, I certainly don’t have my readers on! 😉 It’s a great picture! Good for you – Facebook Live freaks me out! I haven’t done it yet. We had plans to get pizza at a bar/pizza place on Friday. I told my husband he was in charge. He didn’t think it would take that long for them to make pizza. So when he called, they told him pickup would be in TWO hours. Doh! So Little Caesars pizza it was instead. Hopefully we’ll have better luck this week.

    1. Only Lola is blurry in the picture. 🙂

FB Live freaked me out too. But the truth is you don’t see who’s watching you, so it’s really no big deal.

We actually have a Little Caesars gift card we got way back in December. I think Mr. Judy forgot about it (but he reads the blog sometimes so that might jog his memory).

  9. I really love that photo of you and Lola!

It poured rain here all day, and it also rained yesterday. Luckily I was able to beat the rain during my run yesterday morning.

I’ve been trying to order carryout twice a week from different restaurants too. Just trying to do my part to support them. I really hope that the local restaurants will be able to survive this.

    1. Thanks, Kim! It did dry up here this afternoon, naturally. After I got soggy this morning. Oh well, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to wait til the afternoon anyway.

I am sure some restaurants won’t survive, but my guess is some will.

  10. That is a beautiful pic!! I have done FB live once (I think) when I did a 2:30 plank and tried talking all the way through it LOL I should try to find things to do live on there more often, but I’m working most days, so it would have to be an evening thing. I know, excuses!

    Liked by 1 person

    1. No, it’s not an excuse. Going to work & everything going on right now — that’s a lot.

And it’s not a matter of “should” — it’s more do you want to? Like anything, if you want to, you’ll make the time.

  11. Great photo Judy!

We’ve been cooking a lot and getting our boys involved, We did order take out once this past week to try to show some love to one of our favorite local restaurants. I really worry that some of the restaurants around here will not still be here when all of this finally settles down 😦

  12. I agree with the others about the photo of you- it’s a great photo. I’ve been doing all of the cooking and even figured out how to make homemade Asian dumplings last week. I used to cook maybe 80% of the time and my husband would make something easy the rest of the time or warm up leftovers but now that I’m working from home, I’ve been doing all of the cooking. We really only eat out when we travel and for special occasions when we’re home.

  13. That’s a great photo of you and Lola! And we’re doing the same thing, mostly cooking at home with some take out here and there to support local businesses. I think we all just have to do our best to strike a balance.

  14. Your photo is gorgeous! I love it!

We haven’t really gotten any take out since this began, other than some iced coffees. We are cooking just about everything, which is fine, although I really want restaurant french fries in the worst way. Or real pizza. Or just about anything that I didn’t make LOL.

You guys get snow, and we get temps in the 90s. Something is so wrong about that lol.

    1. Yes, that’s why we’ve almost always gone out to dinner once a week. I like to cook, but somehow it often tastes better when someone else makes it, right? Well, of course they usually use a lot of salt & fat, LOL!

The only good thing about Spring snow is it really doesn’t last long. It was one the next day — completely — which doesn’t happen in Winter, because it’s too cold.

  15. I’ve been trying to continue cooking but its hard when I can’t always get the ingredients I need. So I’ve just been throwing together meals however I can. We did pizza last weekend and same as you, I washed my hands after touching the box and then cleaned the counters well. It’s tough to decide what is ok to do and what is too much of a risk.

  16. Lovely pics! I managed to do some batch cooking for the freezer just before all the shortages hit and now I’m able to get stuff again, slowly working through the frozen stuff while keeping ahead of myself with 14 days of food just in case we get sick and have to self-isolate properly. Aware of not wanting to ask too much of people if we need help.

A local friend’s mum died of Cov-19 on Sunday and I was unnerved by that, realising I have not managed to keep over 2m from everyone on every run. So no more running for me – very early walks and then digging out the cross-trainer. Sad and awful times. Stay well!

    1. Are you able to just run on your own? It seems a shame to give up your runs at a time when I’m sure you truly need them.

I’m so sorry about the loss of your friend’s mom. Losing a parent is never easy, but I can’t even imagine how it would be right now. So far, so good for my mom.

On a slightly morbidly funny note, my dad’s ashes are still at the funeral home. He could be staying there a long time!

Stay well. Remember to concentrate on the things you can control.

      1. We’re not permitted to do anything but run on our own now (or with someone who lives in your house with you, and he doesn’t run). But I live in a busy suburb and even when I went out for a walk at 6.30 am there were enough people on the high street that if I’d been running, I’d have been dodging round them and risking someone suddenly appearing and making distancing difficult.

Like with the Italian letter to people in countries further behind, I will tell you that once you are on a massive lockdown and you know people who have relatives who are dying or you know people who have suspected cov-19 and are living in isolation and you are shopping for them because they can’t go out for 14 days, it does rattle you and you realise what you need to do. If I lived near trails etc I’d be on those but I know on all my solo runs someone has popped out of their driveway or come out of a front door or shop and I’ve had to zig zag and haven’t always managed it. Until I heard about my friend’s mum I was all “Oh well they say only 30 mins a day but that’s just a radio interview not official, I must run” and after I was “OK, in the house, only walks”.

      2. I’m so sorry that you feel that you can’t even run outside. 😦 I’m glad it’s still an option for me, and also glad I have the stationary bike & treadmill available to me, too.

May I suggest Pahla B? I think you’d really like her workouts & her style! She’s so fun & uplifting & she has many different styles of workouts, including walking with weights & some running ones, too.
