Running Update

Zero, zip, nada

Look closely; you can just see my red pajama bottoms Bandit’s snuggling up against

Favorites of the week
There have been more snuggles with Bandit. One day he actually snuggled with me a long time, but since then he’s mostly back to “I’ll lay on you when I want something from you” mode.

When I get up Bandit’s quick to claim the warm spot

Despite the extremely gray week, it was somewhat warm (for Winter) and mostly not too windy. In other words, good running weather for Winter — except Saturday, when we had a wintry mix. Although I don’t think I had COVID, I did get tested on Friday. Not sure when I’ll visit my mom again, but I just felt I had to make sure before I did. Still waiting on results.

I have definitely not been a complete couch potato, but I did finish up Bridgerton on Netflix. Lovely costumes, attractive actors, beautiful sets. If you’re looking for something light, you might enjoy this.

I’m also in the middle of Tiny Pretty Things, also on Netflix, which is pretty much a complete 180 from Bridgerton. It’s about high school aged ballet dancers at a fancy ballet school in Chicago, and opens with a mystery about who pushed one of the dancers off the roof.

It’s pretty dark, and lots of sex, but the mystery is interesting and the dancing is great. If you enjoy ballet, you might like this.

Finally we watched One Night in Miami on Amazon Prime last night. It was interesting and I’d recommend it.

What do you do when you feel stiff & achy?

Seen the sun lately?

Watching anything good on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

gwy banish aches

ICYMI: Movement is lotion — even when you’re not feeling 100%. This short practice will help you banish stiffness: when you’re sick, when you wake up — it also works as a great warmup for a longer Yoga practice. You’ll find the video here.

Coming up on Tuesday: What has the Pandemic taught me about running? Friday I hope to reveal another project I’ve been working on while I haven’t been running — but we’ll see, it’s been slow going.

    1. Giz was the penultimate lap cat. Annoyingly so sometimes. All our animals have always been pretty good at snuggling. Bandit is the first one that isn’t, but of course he was a senior rescue & unfortunately damaged goods. He’s still come a long way, though.

      1. Dear old Morgan was a lap boy and pestered to be held, you could literally have walked around holding him all day long which was cute but also a bit wearing. Willa is quite attached to me now after a year and two months, but tends to show it by stretching up the back of my leg unexpectedly or stropping her claws on my knee … Percy is a daddy’s boy and sits on Matthew’s lap but never mine!

      2. Chester (dog) was much like Morgan. Giz didn’t like to be held, but he’d lay on me forever & yes, it could get annoying! But how I miss them both. What I don’t miss? Giz was easily startled. He’d dig in his claws & jump off me — so I feel you on that!

  1. As you know. Zippo in the sun department.

But as you said, although gray, the temps were perfect for running. I actually ran 5 times this week and a nice hike yesterday.

I’m front loading my miles I think because I get the vaccine on Tues and then another 21 days later. Many people I know got sick after so just in case.

I’m pretty healthy knock on wood. Haven’t been sick in… I can’t remember. Haven’t had a sick day in 4 years at this job. knock on wood lol

I started watching Bridgerton but didn’t like it. I am on the 3rd season of Broadchurch. Love that one. Finished Sweet Magnolia and Virgin River – meh.

Hope you feel better. You are smart to rest if that works for you. No races to train for, right?

    1. Haven’t been feeling great the last couple of weeks. Better this week but just very run down. I did an online chat with our insurance & they recommended I get tested for peace of mind. Not that even that was easy.

  2. Sorry you were feeling down this week. I hope with some rest you are back to yourself this week. When I feel achy, i try to do some stretch classes and walking so I hope that works for you as well.Hope you are able to visit your mom soon xo

    1. I’m definitely hoping to feel better soon. It’s just been back & forth, which is super annoying. The test was negative, which is what I expected at this point, but I just felt I needed to do it to make sure I wasn’t going to infect anyone where my mom lives.

  3. I tried to get out in the sun today, but it quickly got cloudy and dark. We just finished Emily in Paris — we needed some extra fluff. We probably will try Bridgerton, although now my husband compares all the period show to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (which he loved and isn’t as horrid as it sounds!)

I hope you continue to feel better and get (negative) test results soon.

  4. I tried watching the ballet show, but it didn’t grab me (and both daughters were dancers LOL). I’ve seen the first few episodes of Bridgerton, though, and that’s much more captivating (at least for me). Hope you’re feeling better ❤

    1. The test was negative. Which I expected. But I just really felt I needed to it do before going to see my mom, although I’m still not sure when that’ll be. Hoping I’ll feel up to it by the end of next week.

  5. Sorry, you’re still not feeling 100% – getting some walking in is always a good thing.

We’ve seen glimpses of the sun here and there, but the temps have been mild so I cannot complain.

I have One Night in Miami on my “to watch list” – I’m currently obsessed with The Morning Show on AppleTV+ (got a free subscription with my new iPhone).

    1. Ah, no Apple TV here. My iPhone’s really old, LOL! Like most of my stuff.

There pretty much was no sun at all this week & despite a few wintry mix days we were still able to get Bandit out for a walk every day — the warmer afternoons helped. Although he was incredibly balky this afternoon & it really wasn’t that bad!

  6. Oh, Judy, I hope you feel better soon!

It was sunny here much of the week and actually quite warm – low 50’s three days straight.

We’ve watched zero TV with the exception of the NFL playoffs and a little college basketball. It’s time we binge watch something on Netflix!

    1. In the winter up here 40 is warm. 😊 But sun? Pretty much absent all last week!

I think I feel better, but I have to continue to take it easy because every time I do more the next day I’m wiped out!

  7. So sorry that you were still feeling under the weather this week 😦 But glad that you were able to snag some extra snuggle time with Bandit!

You’re probably the 10th person I know to recommend Bridgerton. I think I will check it out!

  8. Glad your covid test was negative. Nowadays we have to get tested just in case- I’ve heard so many varied stories about Covid symptoms that you can never be sure. Hope you feel better soon!

  9. When I feel stiff, I get out and walk. It helps loosen things up.

I am watching One Night In Miami right now. I started Tiny Pretty Things, but keep getting interrupted. I also watched The Undoing and My Octopus Teacher.

    1. I’m pretty good (sometimes) at listening to my body. Yup, the test was negative. Which I expected but felt like I needed to do it & the person I talked to at my insurance thought it was the right thing to do.

  10. hope you feel better soon and that your test is negative.

though I am getting out every day at least for a walk I feel a real couch potato because everything is shut down now. So lots of Netflix. We did the Queen’s Gambit, then The Crown and now watching The Frankenstein Chronicles. I think we’ll do something lighter after this! If I’m ever feeling tired or achy these days, I rest. And I think it’s good that you do too.

    1. We can get out — but in the middle of Winter, it’s not as easy to spend as much time outside! Unless you ski, which I don’t.

If I felt better I might walk more, but I do think fresh air is good even when you’re not 100%. Sunshine would help a lot, but not much I can do about that. I do love the infrared heater — I swear I bought it for my husband, really!

    1. I was negative. I didn’t really think it was COVID, but even if it was, by the time I got tested I would’ve been shocked to hear I was positive.

Still, I needed that peace of mind — and so did my mom. She was getting really worried that I’d had it, so it helped when I could tell her yesterday that the test was negative.
