A Quiet Thanksgiving: 11/20 – 26 WRD

My sister spent months obsessing over this aide transition, and gratefully it went smoothly. My mom was very confused when I got there on Sunday (insisting she hadn’t ordered the 4 pies in the refrigerator), but now seems to be taking it in stride. Aside from the Pandemic years, we’ve traveled to family every year since we moved here — with the exception of the years we hosted. With the animals it was always a royal pain. So so happy my sister went this Thanksgiving and we could have a low key Thanksgiving.

Running Update

A warm up walk with Bandit & #allthepinecones

Tuesday intention: take it easy
I was surprised to feel okay to run today — usually I need a rest day after visiting my mom, but things went pretty smoothly overall. I may not have had my oatmeal waiting, but I eventually dragged myself out on this feels-like-Winter day to run (it was 18F when I got up). We did walk Bandit before I ran — I really don’t like doing it after I run when it’s colder. I broke out almost complete Winter running clothes for this run. Nothing too exciting (or conversely bad) about this run.

Sort of heart shape

Thursday intention: go long-er
I wasn’t planning my long-er run today, but the weather was relatively nice. Cold, yes, but not as cold as Tuesday. Windy, sometimes. I decided to stop midway and walk around the gazebo and small pond behind Town Hall and am glad I did. I knew Saturday was going to be a lot colder! It was slow for some reason, but I thought I’d only run twice this week and now three times seems doable.

Christmas & Santa is coming

Saturday intention: go easy
I managed to motivate myself out a bit earlier, despite the cold. Just suck it up buttercup! Back in Winter running gear, but very little wind so it was a more normal pace (what passes for normal these days).

So much gratitude to kimrunsonthefly.blogspot.com for this collage!

Favorites of the week
So much gratitude to Kim @ kimrunsonthefly for the collage above. Although did you notice I’m the only one who took my photo inside, LOL? Oh well! It was chilly! So grateful for the people running has brought into my life.

If you follow me on Facebook here, you know I shared pretty Gazebo photos that I took on my midrun break on Thanksgiving. I hope your Thanksgiving was filled with joy and gratitude!

Coming up next Week: WRD. A great time to get together over hot beverages (and share Turducken thoughts)!

  1. Glad things went well at your mom’s as well as a few runs.

It seemed cold by the temps but each time I ran I was too warm… note to self: do not wear beanie or vest yet! It will be a long winter.

      1. Yup. How fast you’re running and how far. Those fast racers were wearing shorts and singlets.

I tend to run warm. It’s good in the winter. Not so in other seasons. But I don’t sweat much so there’s that.

  2. We had a quiet Thanksgiving too. A simpler menu made the day more relaxing!

Brr on the 18F morning! No wonder you took your photo inside!

Glad the aide transition went smoothly.

  3. I’m glad your Thanksgiving went well πŸ˜‰ Yeah, our winter feels-like temps came rolling in with a grand entrance here, too. I always know it’s coming, but it’s still a shock to the system, LOL.

  4. Yes, it really is nice not to have to travel on Thanksgiving! It sounds like you enjoyed the day, and that your mom is doing well. I like Bandit’s sweater!

    1. If I hadn’t just been there we might’ve gone (before my sister decided to go that was the plan), but it’s just hard with Bandit now. My mom is pushing me to come this week because my brother will be here & while it would be nice to see him it also gives a little. I was there the last 2 weeks!
