About Me

I have never been athletic. Maybe you can relate: last picked for anything in gym, loathed running, weight has yo-yo’do from a bit overweight, to thin (with the help of Weight Watchers), to REALLY overweight (with the help of my 40s), to the higher end of a healthy range for my height.

With the help of Weight Watchers & Spark People, I lost weight again in my late 40s, but at some point it came to a screeching halt. Sound familiar, maybe? So I thought I’d give running & Couch to 5k a try. And at the end I still wasn’t running a 5k, but I was running & I’m stubborn. And slow.

I trained for a year & ran my first 5k. Then another. Then I started doing longer & longer races. I signed up for my first Half Marathon in Las Vegas with friends. Good thing, too, because I had my first attack of runner’s knee after an 8 mile race – but I was already signed up for that half.

I didn’t know if I’d love it or hate it.

And so a mission to run a Half Marathon in every state was born. I usually only run 2-3 a year, so I don’t know if I’ll complete my mission, but I’m having fun trying.  If you think you’re too old, too fat, too slow to run, I’m here to tell you differently, to cheer you on every step of the way & hopefully to sometimes inspire you.

In the words of John Bingham: waddle on, my friends.

  1. Hi Judy! I found you through the Weekly Wrap! I’m just finishing up my second year of running and am planning to run a half in every state as well! Fun goal, isn’t it! Okay, so I only have 3 states as of right now, but hey, it’s a start! Good luck on your journey! 😀

    1. Thank you, Cascia. Seriously, I’m very humbled by that company! I’ve put the badge on my home page & will share it in other social media too.

Of course I’m not actually a mom . . . unless you count the furkids. 🙂
