There’s no place like home:10/17-23 Weekly Wrap

There wasn’t a whole lot of organized exercise going on this week; it was a busy week of travel. Flying across the country to get home, one day at home, driving down to move my parents into their new home.

Although I didn’t do much (if any) yoga or or strength training, and always planned to take the week off of running after my half (hopefully a recap coming soon!), there was a lot of moving from simply packing, unpacking, going up and down the stairs in my parents home, moving in some furnirture they decided they still wanted after the official move 9in the cold, pouring rain, no less) — most days I actually got in a reasonable amount of steps.

But I missed my normal exercise!

So because I’ll be traveling a lot in the next few months, but “wrapped” up with family business too, follow me on Instagram to find out what shenanigans I’m up to. I’m wrapping it up with the Weekly Wrap from Holly @ Hohoruns and Tricia @ Misssipppiddlin because you just never know who you might inspire.

Running updates

Running into the sunset

Sunday

Although it’s beautiful around my parents’ new home, it’s also hilly, it was cold, and it was wet from all the rain we’d had Friday and Saturday. And my mom got up at 2:30 in the morning because she couldn’t sleep, and went to work organizing the kitchen, waking up both me and my Dad. So I didn’t run in the morning.

I had brought along running clothes, just in case. When I got home, though, I spent a half hour saying hi to the furkids and Mr. Judy (not necessarily in that order) and then hit the road. In a jacket and capris. It actually wasn’t that cold, but I knew I’d be running into the sunset and it would get chilly (we’re getting down into the 30s at night now); so while I was warm to start, I was comfortable at the end.

I just needed to run. I’m sure you’re familiar with that feeling!

Favorites of the week
Coming home! Seriously, I’ve basically been gone two weeks. Most of it fun, but almost a week of it was family visiting (MIL, SIL, my parents).

Moving my parents wasn’t as stressful as I feared — even my mom admitted it wasn’t as hard as she feared — which is not to say it was easy, either. My Dad seemed happy until we brought up finances, which totally stresses him out now. My Mom is not happy, but no one expected her to be, but she didn’t seem as unhappy as she was when she actually agreed to make the move.

Of course now they are on their own. I will be back in a couple of weeks, and while my sister lives there, she will be working a lot from now until the end of the year, and she really needs a break, too.

My SkirtSports matches the leaves. 🙂

So coming home, again! And finally getting in a run. And we have sort of big news about Bandit, but I’ll wait until Thursday, I think, to bring that up. You’ll just have to check back. 🙂

And that’s a wrap

Let’s get the conversation started:

Tell me something great about your week!

How cold is it getting at night where you live?

Who’s going to NYCMarathon? I will be in the city that weekend! I’d love to meet up with you.

  1. I do know that feeling! Sometimes you just need to run 🙂 I miss sometimes, my feet won’t let me do that.
That is god you got your parents settled! I am sure that is a huge lift. I hope they adjust well to the changes, it is never easy.
The most tired I’ve ever been happened this weekend;) LOL

  2. It has to be nice to be home! Glad to hear the move wasn’t as difficult as you’d expected. Wow those are some pretty tights! It’s gotten to the high 30’s here but still no frost. Running in the 40’s has been amazing.

    1. Nope, not at all sore. There wasn’t a whole lot we had to carry — mostly done by the movers. Just a few pieces of furniture the next day (and my brother did most of the heavy lifting) and that tv.

I do worry about the adjustment, more on my mom’s side than my dad’s (but who knows? It’s really up to them now.

  3. Glad things went well.

We did have frost on the morning of my 10k.

I was in NYC on Sunday. It wasn’t cold but very windy. Saturday was awful. Didn’t get my long run in.

    Maybe next weekend.

      1. Supposed to rain here Thursday. Not sure if I will get a long run in this weekend. Not doing it on the treadmill.

  4. Our weather has been erratic….cold, then hot. And there’s been a lot of wind recently (YUCK!). It’s been brisk in the morning (it’s supposed to be 43-degrees tomorrow at 5:00AM for my run….), but I think in the 60’s by the afternoon.

    1. That’s almost our forecast high for today . . . it’s going to be an ugly week weather-wise.

And windy, too, barely felt I was moving at times yesterday.

Thankfully I can run later in the day. 😊

  5. I’m so happy to hear the move went smoothly for your parents! Hopefully, they will adjust quickly too. I know what you mean about just needing a run. It’s the best stress reliever ever. Everything seems to click into place. I can’t wait to hear the good news about Bandit. I’ve been rooting for him all along. Thanks for linking, Judy! See you soon.

  6. Glad the move wasn’t as stressful for your parents as they were anticipating.
Temps here are pretty much perfect for running. I have even been overdressed several times. Hoping to see you in NYC !
