Easy does it: 3/18-24 WRD

Not a whole lot to report this week. Feeling better, but almost no running. No need to push myself. Since I’m mentoring for the Freihofers Training Challenge, it’s a pretty perfect opportunity to ease back into running, as the challenge follows the C25K app.

Running Updates

Yeah, it was pretty cold and a little slick

Saturday
My return to “running” coincided with mentoring for Freihofers Womens Run again — I’d already missed the kickoff on Monday. It also coincided with a thin covering of snow and ice. Insane winds giving the real temperature of 30 a feels like 15. I won’t lie: I really didn’t want to go.

I didn’t do a whole lot of running. I walked quite a bit with one lovely woman towards the end who is battling PF (and I know a lot of you can relate to that!).

Despite the conditions I’m really glad I got out there. Left to my own devices I wouldn’t have, but I had a blast and I think all the women that showed up did, too.

Lola loves to snuggle in close

Favorites of the week
I did find a new Netflix show to watch (new to us, anyway, apparently the first season came out in 2016): The OA. Also very odd, but odd in a good way to me. I love Jason Isaacs — such a talented actor. I do hate that his character is rather evil.

With me, too, while i was resting

The Widow, btw, was on Amazon Prime. Really enjoyed that.

So my one very short run/walk yesterday still netted me lots more steps than I’ve been getting lately. It’s been a while since I’ve seen 10k steps — still slowly easing back into activity, trying hard to stay healthy this time.

With most of my family (missing my brother & one nephew
Including the nephew who lives in India!
The birthday boy (who turns 93 tomorrow) facetiming with his son

Talk to me:

When looking for a show to watch, what type catches your interest?

Do the little teases of Spring have you thinking about what  you’re going to do when the weather gets nice?

What’s blooming where you live (snow here, apparently, although it should melt by tomorrow, it wasn’t very much)?

  1. We binge watched the widow last weekend. While highly improbable it was entertaining. How was Tai Chi? Have never tried it. That is great that you are mentoring a C25K program. Looks very cold there! thanks for linking up with us

    1. It was indeed extremely cold on Saturday. Very glad I didn’t have to get in a long run.

The Tai Chi was just one or two moves. I haven’t really done much of it myself, but always been intrigued by it. Actually the particular move they were demoing in that video was a little difficult to put together!

  2. Lola knows how to make herself comfy! Blooming? I bought some flowering branches and forced them to bloom in the house but other than that? Nada. I’m not sure what kind of year it’s going to be in the garden at the rate we’re going.

    1. Lola most definitely knows how to comfy. Bandit isn’t super snuggly — unless he wants something, we’ve determined.

Well things blooming inside can brighten your day (we definitely don’t have anything blooming yet either, no leaves on the trees — not sure if they’re budding yet).

    1. We won’t see daffodils til April. Probably the end of April.

My husband & I do have different tastes, but we have enough that we like in common that we watch an hour or so of tv most nights.

  3. Happy birthday to your Dad. My mil will be turning 94.

I don’t really like to watch TV. But if I do it seems to be medical shows. Call the Midwife, Greys Anatomy and the Good Doctor or the shows I watch if I have time.

Yes I am anxious for spring. To play tennis outdoors and go on our boat.

I am glad I ran yesterday. It was gorgeous.

    1. I would’ve enjoyed running yesterday too. No choice in the matter though. There’s always the thought of how many birthdays are left to them? One of my mom’s best friends just passed away. My mom actually went to her funeral that morning. 😦

      1. I agree. Family is much more important than running. Unless you are Kim and can do 5@5.

I had to skip running on Thurs, Fri & Sat but it was worth it. They only get married once.

    1. Most of us aren’t *too* far away, except for my brother, his wife, and son — and the son that lives in India (and obviously that’s really far away!).

So it’s nice when we can all get together. I’ve been trying to take more photos because I know that time is winding down for my parents.

  4. Nothing is blooming here sadly. We just had another big dump of snow last week. I am definitely thinking about those amazing warm runs every time the weather hints at being nice.

  5. Looks like Lola is an expert at getting cozy! We don’t expect to see all that much blooming here until May, but at the same time there must be *something* blooming because my allergies hit in full force this weekend.

    1. I swear Lola can no longer settle unless she’s laying on a human — I think she’s taking over Giz’s place (just as Giz took over from Simba when he passed).

Now if Bandit would get the memo — he’s probably the dog I’ve had to work the hardest with, and neither Lola nor Chester were easy! But he’s not snuggly unless he wants something and random occasions.

I lot of people are already complaining about allergies. I don’t usually suffer with them much, but my husband does. I did notice on my run yesterday that the trees are beginning to bud here.

    Aww Miz Lola!
I’m not much of a TV person, but sometimes I’ll follow an actor whose work I enjoyed to his/her new show. Bombed out on Fox’s The Resident and meh so far on Chris Meloni’s Happy. If you like weird though, you might enjoy that

  7. Glad you’re feeling better and that’s sensible easing back in.

We have shedloads of fruit blossom here at the moment, plus the daffodils and tulips, too. Very much prettier than it has been!
