Critters are busy!: 10/30 – 11/5 WRD

We actually did have to run the AC one afternoon this week (or maybe it was the end of last week). Then I was pulling out the transition jackets and tights for my runs. Although who am I kidding — the transition jackets never get put away, LOL!

Running Update

We went from AC to a hard freeze in the space of several days

Tuesday intention: just run!
Halloween was a lovely day to run. As always my thoughts go to Lola (we had to put her to sleep 3 years ago on Halloween), but she did have a good, long life and wasn’t sick very long. The run was decent for not much running, but I took it easy anyway.

What a difference a week can make

Saturday intention: just run a bit more
Another decent run. I would have like to fit in 3 runs this week, but I did do plenty of walking mixed with some hiking when I visited my mom so I’m calling it good.

Does the person who created this live nearby? Are they moving the dwarves around? Are kids playing with them?

The critters were busy on this run! I heard squirrels digging, then running away, and spied a few burying their goods.

Visited a new Preserve (shared a different version of this photo on Facebook)

Favorites of the week
Nothing earth shattering about this week. Bandit is eating so much better now that it’s cooler (annoyingly so, actually) and I’ve even been able to add back in a few supplements he took for years that he wasn’t accepting anymore.

We did try a pupsicle (Amazon Affiliate link here) and at least the first two days we gave it to him, it was a huge success and it occupied him for about 30 minutes.

I will not lie, I wasn’t overly wowed by the second owner of Skirt Sports (if you didn’t hear, Skirt Sports is closing its doors) and I did think the quality had declined. I’m still sad that the doors are closing. As long as I don’t gain more weight I should be good a long while, but I’ve been running in Skirt for a long, long time and I will miss it — and the friendships I’ve made. Everything is on sale here.

Good luck to everyone that runs NYC — you are all rockstars!

Coming up next Week: WRD.

  1. We had to go back and forth between heat and AC a few times this week too. I kind of lost interest in Skirt Sports years ago. They kind of ran their course and then tried to hang on maybe a little too long. I loved the early days of the company and the family feel. Glad Bandit is doing better 🙂

    1. If I hadn’t gained weight this last year I’d be all set. SS just fit my body right (until most recent releases. I really think Sarah just spread herself too thin, & I appreciated that she tried — it probably cost her a lot.

  2. I love the colours in that forest where you went running – although yes, the second week it looks very much closer to winter. Still looks stunning and so peaceful.
Glad to hear Bandit is doing better!

  3. I wasn’t a big Skirt Sports fan–I did love my Inknburn skirts, though! I don’t see a lot of runners wearing skirts much anymore. I agree with what Deborah said–i think they maybe played it safe and didn’t move forward with the trends. Oh well.

I’ll have to look into those pupsicles for Cocoa. Although she’s gained a bit of weight from the steroids, so I’m not sure if she needs more treats lol. We’re going back up to Madison tomorrow for a follow up. She’s got some bald spots from the skin infection she has, but her ear is better. Sigh.

    1. I ran into a SS sister in my half last year . . . I don’t think skirts are going anywhere. 🙂

The popsicles are pricy, but they work great for Bandit (can’t guarantee it will for Cocoa, obviously). Ugh, sorry about the skin infection. Always something isn’t it?

  4. Wow- a week really did make a difference! Things move quickly this time of year. I’m going to guess you’re done with the AC for a good long time.
Sorry you had to lose Lola on Halloween! It’s always a shame when a holiday is tinged with sadness. But, I’m glad to hear Bandit is doing better.

    1. Bandit is probably doing better mostly because of the cooler weather. Next Summer will probably be hard again. We lost our first dog the day after New Years. But outside of an uncle, so far no losses on my birthday. That’s something!

  5. My house has been “stable,” but the car is where I’ve had to turn the AC on and off, almost every-other day. Yesterday, it was so hot in the car during the day, but oh-so-cold driving home last night (after an evening football game). Today? it’s 61F outside this afternoon 😉

  6. You have had a big change in the trees over the past week. It’s fun to compare those two views.

So glad Bandit is doing so much better!

I did order one more skirt and one more pair of shorts when I heard about SkirtSports. I actually wear the skirts for athleisure more than running.

    1. Bandit loves the pupsicle so far. But it is expensive & not all dogs react the same way. At this stage of his life I just feel it’s worth it. I wish I could give him more than one of the treats a day!
