What’s better than 1 aide?: 11/13 – 19 WRD

I could definitely have run 3 x this week, but I know how draining the next 24 hours is going to be. I’d rather try to go to my mom for the overnight stay rested. It’s also amazing that just 2 little runs can completely fill up my Intensity minutes for the week. It’s harder and harder to drag myself outside early as the morning temps have, for the most part, plummeted. Several mornings at low 20sF.

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner and taking it easy while trying to stay fit. Sometimes it’s a challenge!.

Monday intention: take it easy
I tried to “jog” my memory about this run. Pretty sure it was cold — think I had to use the fleece gloves for the first time this Fall. Otherwise pretty much complete amnesia. I know it wasn’t a bad run, so there’s that.

A holiday fusion?

Thursday intention: go long-er
I had planned to venture out of the neighborhood — and I could — but Mr. Judy had somewhere to be and Bandit just gets so anxious when I’m gone. I was actually overdressed — I think I might have even been able to wear a skirt (but I didn’t). Again nothing memorable, but nothing bad, either.

Finally caught this tree in the right light (one of the few still holding on to its leaves)

Favorites of the week
Bandit is still enjoying his pupsicle (Amazon Affiliate link here), but sometimes won’t work on it when I go out. But sometimes he will.

The title refers to the fact that apparently we now potentially have 2 aides coming on Monday. Don’t ask. Of course I get to deal with that, but hey, I’m getting Turducken for Thanksgiving (that’s what we finally settled on). I’ve never had it before, but I can’t imagine it being bad.

I don’t have to be there early today, so I should be able to do some commenting. On Sundays my mom has brunch and plays a game, so I can leave later — but not too late — sunset is at 4:29 pm!

Another week light on exercise, and next week could be too. it is what it is and I do what I can.

ICYMI: In addition to letting go of grief and sadness, you’ll also tap into contentment and gratitude — say hello to your Thanksgiving slice of calm? — click here for the video (live at 8 am).

Coming up next Week: WRD. NOW it’s time for Runfessions, LOL!

  1. Good luck with the aides.

At least you don’t have the pressure of a race to train for. You can just enjoy the runs.

I don’t remember it being cold but I know I often dressed as if it was. Hard this time of year. I was too warm with every run.

I have to write my post each day to keep track of runs. Senior brain.

  2. I’m the exact opposite of you–if I have something stressful coming up, I make sure to get in a run. Running doesn’t exhaust me and it is definitely a stress reliever. Enjoy your turducken!

    1. Running can definitely exhaust me. Luckily I have many ways to deal with stress, but unfortunately can’t do much about the unexpected interruptions from family sometimes. Turned yesterday’s calm day into a more stressful day.

  3. You summarized all thing’s perfectly…you do what you can. We all have circumstances to deal with, some by choice and some not. I love that pic of the tree! We still have a lot of trees with leaves, but most have lost their color.

  4. No gloves here yet! I kind of do the opposite and try to get the runs and workouts in before the stressful situation. Gotta do what works for you! Hope things go smoothly for you at your moms. Happy Thanksgiving

  5. I runfess I waited for it to warm up a tad before heading out the other day when it was 22 degrees. I don’t have my winter blood yet. Haha! Enjoy that turducken. I’ve never had one either.

  6. Well, it’s still pretty warm here- send some of that cold air our way!
I hope the visit with your mom went well and you were able to sort out the aide situation! Have a GREAT Thanksgiving Judy!

    1. Well I’m here til tomorrow. That’s the hope anyway if things go sideways I’ll have to stay longer. I’m thinking positively. I’d love to send you our 20 degree mornings. πŸ™‚

  7. Turducken! I can’t wait to hear how that goes! We are going out for Thanksgiving, which is totally new for us. We’ve never done it!

Sweet Bandit. The pugs hate when I leave, and immediately velcro themselves to me when we get back from places. They are much younger, though, so it’s not as stressful.

  8. It looks like you’ve had some really nice weather there. Although cold.
I hope everything goes well with the aides.
For my rundown post I always write down my gym exercises as soon as I get back from the gym. Otherwise I’d forget all the details! At least for the walks and bike rides I have it on Strava and the Fitbit app.

  9. When I was a child we had a cocker spaniel who was terribly attached to my mom and would not leave the window when she was gone. She just sat there waiting for her to come home. Separation was so stressful for our dog 😦 I hope your Thanksgiving worked out and the two aides (!) was a good situation!
