Run the Utah Valley Marathon with me!

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post (read it here), I am so excited to have the chance to run the Utah Valley Half Marathon on June 10, 2017 (disclaimer: I was provided a free race entry from the race organizers).

What’s almost as exciting? Being able to share my good fortune with one of my readers! Because I have one free entry to raffle off to one of you, too. It’s good for any of the race distances (marathon, half marathon, or 10k). Click here for your chance to win an entry.

A few details about this race:

  • Finishers will receive a 10th anniversary jacket
  • The race is a fast net downhill course
  • The course begins in Provo Canyon and ends in front of the Provo Tabernacle
  • There will be music along the course
  • Massages will be available post race
  • And, of course, the scenery will be stunning!

I am dreaming of running by the ocean; the seabreeze blowing through my ponytail; the smell of salt in the air. If you’ve never run by the ocean, there’s nothing better and it’s been too long since I’ve had the opportunity.

I just viewed the video of the half marathon course for the Shipyard Maine Coast Half Marathon (there is also a relay for the half, a full, and if you’re really nuts, you can run the half on Saturday and the full on Sunday.

I won’t lie: although they term the course mostly flat, nothing in New England is flat and it looks challenging. In fact, it looks a lot like the elevation chart from my Green Mountain Half. Redemption for that final hill, maybe?

This race sells out long before race day, so you may want to register early and use my code JLitt for $5 off your registration fee.

I like to eat. And I like to bake. And I like to share the things I bake with other people. Good thing I like to exercise, too, because otherwise I’d weight 300 lbs! Today I want to give you the chance to win some of my pre/post exercise snacks. I want to share with you some home baked goodness!

Included (but not limited to) no bake peanut butter granola bars (good pre and post exercise) and oatmeal date almond bars (I like to eat little bits of this during long runs); both recipes are from Faanetasticfood, so you know they’re good for exercise/running.

Please be aware that these snacks contain nuts or nut butters and although I do use gluten free oats, if you have a serious gluten problem, these snacks are not for you.
