5 Friday Favorite Fashion Finds

I might just be stretching the Friday 5 rules a wee bit today. I’m talking fashion again, obviously. My passion for fashion is almost as strong (stronger?) as my passion for running — but nothing trumps my passion for chocolate!

At least I snuck in some Skirtsports. And I wouldn’t do that if I wasn’t rocking my Skirtsports on a regular basis, which I also wouldn’t do if I didn’t love them.

It’s Friday Five from Cynthia from You Signed Up for What?, Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, and Mar from Mar on the Run.

Rocking my Skirtsports — still!

Rocking the Skirtsports
All Skirtsports all the time. Well, no, not really, I do stray sometimes — but not in this outfit — the only thing not Skirtsports is the shoes & socks & bra (and we’ll get to the bra).

There are a few Skirtsports skirted capris I don’t love, I won’t lie, but the Lotta Breeze Capris aren’t one of them. Perfect for a run on a sunny 50F day. As was the Take Five Tank. I was a bit chilly in the beginning, I won’t lie (again), and probably would have been more comfortable in a tee, but I just wanted to try out the tank on the run finally! And it was a good run. I find most Skirtsports tanks run a little big. I got this in a small; I might need an XS. It comes down a little lower on my chest than I’d really like, but remember, I’m vertically challenged (5’1″).

And speaking of bras, I wasn’t wearing a Skirtsports bra this day, mainly because I only have one and I was saving it for my long run on Friday. Friday I’ll wear my Kelly Bra. Again, I won’t lie — I’m not going to pay $65 for a bra. Although this bra is totally worth it. It’s so comfortable and has powered many a long run recently. I’m quite small on top, just barely a B — the cups are probably a bit big on me — but still, this bra is worth it. Wait for a sale or use my CRJ20 code for 20% off any regularly priced products.

I need petites!!!

NYDJ
I stopped by Nordstrom rack again a few weeks ago. This time I actually bought a few items, although not these jeans. Not that they didn’t fit well — they did; not that the price wasn’t good — it was; but they weren’t petites and I would have had to pay to get them hemmed. They would have still been a good deal, but I just felt like I didn’t need to spend the money on them at this point in time.

Which is paying Russian Roulette, of course, as stuff goes in and out of Nordstrom Rack all the time.

I think they ran a bit large, too — I found the 4 fit well. Or maybe it was just because they were regulars, not petites. I sometimes wear a size 4 in jeans, depending on the store/cut/yadda yadda, but I’m more likely to be a 6. And sometimes even a 10!

Love these Hue leggings

I’m still obssessed with lace, obviously
But I just might be even more obsessed with these leggings from Hue, which is one of the things I did buy at Nordstrom Rack.

The fabric is on the heavy side, which will be great for next winter — I probably (hopefully) won’t get much wear out of them this season, but watch out next fall/winter! You can never go wrong with an animal print. Did you know that animal print is usually considered a neutral? Which means you can wear any color with it.

Yes, Target

Trendy Target
Yes, I still shop Target for clothes, as you can see here. It’s also a great way to try out trends, like this faux suede laser cut dress above. I thought about wearing it yesterday to my Weight Watchers meeting, but the mornings are still just a little too cool for that. It will have its day, because this is a great dress: the shoulders are cut in a little, and it’s basically a fit and flare style, which is flattering on everyone.

Another trend

DSW is your friend
DSW is another great place to try out the trends for less. Lace up shoes are all the rage these days. I’m a little on the fence about this trend, as anything that goes around your ankle tends to make your legs look shorter, which is something I definitely try to avoid!

I liked these because they almost match my skin tone, which does help to elongate your legs. I’m not sure they are the shoes that will go with the dress I’m wearing Saturday, though, and now I have to rethink my shoe choice and time is running out as I have my long run tomorrow instead of the weekend. Decisions, decisions.

What one trend would you like to try this spring?

Have your tried NYDJ? Thoughts?

Is it warm enough for a dress without a coat or sweater where you live?

Fitful Focus
I’m also joining up with Nicole for her Fit & Fashionable Friday linkup.

  2. So fun! I love your fashion posts!! I actually did NOT know that animal prints were considered neutral! I would’ve never worn them with anything other than black. See, you’re fun and educational as well! 😀

  3. I may have found someone who shops more than me. LOL. I love Nordstrom Rack. I just got a $128 dress for 1 cent. It’s always random but I have been lucky that way. I wear dresses all the time to work with a sweater & jacket. Even in the summer cuz of the air conditioning.

I like lotta breeze because they fit like ggu.

I could do a fashion post but I try to keep this blog on running stuff ..but maybe some day you’ll see my cats and my outfits.

  4. Gosh, I think that Target dress is my favorite! I dragged myself to the mall yesterday and found some work dresses 30% off so that made me happy!

  5. I am a bad shopper because of my size. Being petite like you makes it really hard to find clothing that does not swallow me. That faux suede dress looks great on you.
