I’ve been plagued by this on again off again pain, sort of in my groin, for a few weeks now. Plagued is too strong a word — I’m pretty sure it wasn’t caused by running and it doesn’t bother me while running, either. But raising my leg? Or legs swings to the side that I do for a warmup? Yes, that can hurt a little.
It was there before Dash to the Finish Line, seemed better, then reared its ugly head again after Stockadeathon. So I decided I need an easier week this week; you’ll notice a lot of yoga this week! And I started to experiment with taping it — talk about an awkward area! But there was a big payoff — it seemed off again by the end of the week (and some hard running on Saturday!).
I love linking up with the Weekly Wrap from Holly @ Hohoruns and Tricia @ Misssipppiddlin and reading about how you’ve been active. Join us!

Running updates

I headed out and warmed up with Bandit in the neighborhood and realized after maybe a quarter mile that I’d hit the wrong button. Which is how he got to run with me for 2.25 miles. We actually did negative splits.
I finished up with another 2.5 miles on my own. I thought I’d stop and take more photos of the sunset on the way home, but it had fizzled by that point and was just getting dark.
The tape seemed to make the groin pain worse.

Thursday
I figured since he did 2.25 miles yesterday, he could do it again. Which he did. He also made the rookie mistake of going out too fast. So no negative splits today. I was able to get this photo of our shadows literally on the run.
Magically overnight, though, that groin pain seemed a lot better. So maybe taping helped. So I did it again. Despite the fact it’s actually rather annoying in that awkward place.

I recently bought the Skirtsports wrapsody skirt. I don’t recommend it for petite ladies — the inseam isn’t right for us — I actually dried it on high after its first outing but it’s still just not right. Or maybe I need an xs instead of a small? Or I need to cinch the continuous drawcord some more?
I’m really kind of bummed because I do like the look of it.

Saturday
My last “serious” 5k of the year. Although technically a fun run, I was still shooting for a goal. My actual last 5k of the year is at night through the holiday lights and it’s all about fun and friends, not PRs (nope, I never even come close and I don’t care).
I’ll be recapping the 5k on Tuesday, but I also joined Darlene for 7 miles after the race. Which means it’s a very slow run for her, but a tempo run for me. We stopped a few times — for Darlene to ditch her jacket, for me to change from my long sleeve, sweaty top to a fresh tee, and then towards the end when we ran into my friend Jan.
It was a perfect day to run, and I’m so glad we did, because the forecasted snow arrived right on schedule on Sunday.

Favorites of the week
I posted these over on IG, but every time I wear these silver sneakers I’m so amazed at how comfy they are. If only getting into them wasn’t like getting out of a sweaty sportsbra!

My comfy Skirtsports Ambassadors beanie (the link goes to the same beanie minus the Ambassador branding — I have several other Skirtsports beanies I use all winter long, not so much for running, mostly for just being out in the cold — I love them! Use CRJ20 for 20% off) — no, I didn’t race in it, since thankfully the fog had cleared and the sun came out by the start, but it helped keep me warm pre-race, and yes, it was damn chilly!
Old Navy 50% off jeans. Hopefully I can actually keep my recent weight loss off, but most of my jeans are now too loose (I know, boo hoo for me). So I took advantage of 50% off jeans on Saturday. Unfortunately I never had time to get to the mall and try on stuff, so I’m guessing on sizing, ordered multiple sizes, and am hoping a few of them fit. I really only need a couple of pairs right now — I can still wear my old jeans, they’re not falling off me, but I need a couple of pairs that fit right!

Thanksgiving menu continues to emerge, as you can see on my Pinterest Thanksgiving board.

The unfavorite of the weekend? Bandit’s look says it all — not happy with spring on Saturday and winter on Sunday.
Last but not least, we gave Bandit his second bath. Inside. In the tub. I thought we’d have to leash him like we did outside, but once I put him in there he stayed — until I told him to come out when we were done, and he jumped out. I, of course, had to pick him up and put him in the tub in the first place, but that’s such a change from the beginning, when we couldn’t pick him up at all (or at least were too scared to).
He did really well and we didn’t need the leash.
And that’s a wrap
This week I am also linking up with the Sunday Fitness & Food Linkup brought to you by Ilka @ Ilka’s Blog and Angela @ Marathons & Motivation.
Let’s get the conversation started:
Any racing this weekend? How’d it go?
Do your dogs like sweaters/coats?
Do you like sneakers for just kicking around?
Sorry to hear about your groin pain–I’d be careful with yoga and stretching in that area so you don’t make things worse.
Cocoa has so much fur that the snow and cold don’t bother her. She’s adapted to the cone–but I’m sure she’ll be happy once we take it off. She is something else!

I’m sorry about the cyst. Right now I’m back to completely normal. For now.
Lola’s furry but has very little body fat. Bandit doesn’t have much either & seems to feel the cold – but we’re still figuring him out, of course.
So sorry about your friends. Life can really suck sometimes.

50% off of jeans at Old Navy, I had no idea. I really like their jeans. They have great fit to them. Will have to check them.

It was a one day thing, but they do it occasionally (and Black Friday is coming).

Yikes on the snow! I love how Bandit is becoming a running buddy. I definitely like November running, but not today -we had wicked winds!

We’re having wicked winds & it’s really cold. Maybe more snow overnight but I think that’s it this week.
I have a feeling Bandit won’t want to run in the winter. I had to practically drag him out got a short walk today. Literally! And he usually loves his walks!

I have had what I think is the same growing pain and I’ve been able to alleviate it by sitting on top of a small ball (like a tennis ball in size….have it between butt and crotch if you know what I mean). Bandit does seem to be doing well. I used to be able to wear Old Navy jeans but it seems like they have changed the cuts on all of them.

I haven’t bought jeans in a while – years – which is why I wanted to get to the actual store, but I just haven’t had the time.
Thankfully right now the pain is gone. Hoping it stays gone!

I’ve suffered a little with that same groin pain this year too. Mine is on one side. I figured out it was being aggravated by my hip/glute strengthening exercises, which I’ve scaled back considerably. I still have to be very careful though. It is great to hear that Bandit continues to make strides. I wish I had a holiday light run. The only one I know of (and it’s 90 miles away) is while we will be at the beach. I’ve bought my last few pairs of jeans from Dress Barn. Do you have one of those stores? Thanks for linking, Judy!

I think there’s a dressbarn somewhere, but ON fits me well. Or used to!
The pain (gone for the moment) was also on my problem leg. I think it was from the one legged squats I did one day, even though they felt fine while I was doing them! It always aggravates me when something that’s supposed to be good for you ends up hurting you!

Sorry about the groin. I have never tried taping anything. For that type of thing, I find complete rest is the only option. And jeans ? I haven’t bought a pair in years. Not only has the morphology of my body has changed as I have gotten older, but I absolutely hate anything tight around my waist. But if you have a model you love, please recommend !
I have lost 7 pounds since August so my pants are falling off my hips too, and I haven’t had the time or motivation to buy others. Still aiming for 3 pour pounds before the end of the year.

Congrats on your weight loss! I haven’t lost as much but my jeans were several years old, so they were probably loose to begin with.
With winter I will probably gain a little & they’re not even falling off – except the boyfriend style, which sadly wasn’t available.
But you need new clothes if you’ve lost that much! It’ll make you feel good about yourself every time you wear them & help you keep on track. I would love to lose a few more pounds but I’m pretty happy where I am. Knowing my body, it’ll hang out here a while & then suddenly a few years from now lose a few more pounds. Or who knows, I’m also post menopausal-or I think so, anyway.
I live in jeans, btw, since I don’t work. 😊
Keep up the great work!

Hope your pain stays away.
Yes, hate this weather esp the wind. Tonight’s run should be interesting.
I never shop in ON. I buy my jeans in Target. But I hardly ever wear then since I’m either in work clothes, then either tennis or running clothes.

I am running on my treadmill this afternoon. No reason to expose myself to those winds — I know it can get very cold in FL, but I seriously doubt it will be this bad.
I just heard that my niece has a virus (but is still hoping to feel good enough to come) and I was like nooooooo! I don’t want her germs in my house!
Since I don’t work, and when I did, it was from home, I live in jeans when it’s cold out. Changing in and out of them to exercise is a real PITA, but the animals would just shred most other clothes.
It’s part of why I don’t do the groups — you’re already out for work, I’d have to leave my cozy warm house (which I have done) — in the dark, too!

It’s a chore for sure but I like running with others. So I guess it’s worth it for me.

Glad to hear that your groin pain is better and hope it stays away. Bummer about the wrapsody skirt. Petite problems. 🙂 I love those silver sneakers. They’re super cute. Congrats on your weight loss!

I love your silver sneakers! I have a pair in a light denim that I love!!! Hate you are dealing with an unknown pain. Is it on the top of your leg? After my half I had a discomfort when I would bring my knee up to a 90 degree angle That ligament I guess. I rolled it the best I could. My dogs don’t much like the bath part but I think they both feel better after one.

Oooh, I bet the denim ones are super cute, too!
The pain is all gone. For now, at least! I think it was a pulled muscle (from the squats, not the running) but I really don’t know. Quite frankly I hope not to know cause I hope it’s gone for good!
We really weren’t sure how Bandit would take to baths, but he’s been great about it. Not that either one of them likes it, but they were smelling pretty doggy!

I’m having a similar feeling in my hip/groin area…hoping that some rest does the trick after Sunday’s marathon! You always look so stylish, I really need to look into some skirts and cute running gear!

Hopefully you’ll bounce back quickly. A marathon is so very different from a half!

Glad I can inspire. I find it harder to do yoga in the winter — all that changing into & out of clothes.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving, too.
