I’m Thinking Out Loud about dogs and cats. Of course. I think I have a problem. Maybe I should search out some dog and cat linkups? Are there such things? Maybe I need to create one. What can I say — I don’t call them furkids for nothing. Never fear; there are a few random thoughts that have nothing to do with animals, too.
Why can’t a dog be more like a cat?
I wish dogs purred like cats.
Seriously, it would definitely help us clueless dog owners know whether or not they’re happy. People say cats are aloof (I disagree), but dogs can definitely be a little hard to read sometimes.
More purring, less barking.
How to drive away your dental hygenist
I don’t know what I was thinking. Clearly, I wasn’t, because I had some raw onions on Tuesday — right before my dentist appointment. I mean really — who does that?
I actually don’t even eat raw onions that often, but I was totally out of lettuce and needed some more veggies with my lunch. I felt bad for her; I really did. Maybe this should have been a runfession? Except it has nothing to do with running, of course.
Katie Rocks!
I was so impressed when I saw Katie Couric doing a headstand on the Today Show this week. Just nonchalantly, like anyone can do it. On live tv!
I can’t do it. I can only do it when I kick up against a wall — and that’s progress for me!
Treasure those moments
Gizmo spends most of the winter mornings snoozing away in a bed. Then around 11, he comes out — he wants treats. But he’s also looking for a little lap time.
I actually didn’t want to lay down for him yesterday. I had things to do, tasks to check off my to-do list.
And then I thought: while I hope I have a lot more time with him, he’s getting really near to 16. And I know someday I will miss having him on my lap. So I took some time to lay down so he could curl up on me.
Moments with our loved ones can be so fleeting, and the only thing we want when they’re gone is to hold them again. It’s important to take the time for our loved ones now. While they’re here.
Cue the song “Cat’s in the Cradle” (if you know it — you young’uns probably don’t.

Bandit impressed the vet
I’ve taken him to the practice where he bit the vet several times. Just a meet & greet, so he can be comfortable there. He had not seen the vet again . . . until yesterday. She was really impressed & wanted to know if it was the same dog that had taken a chunk out of her!
No growling at all; she fed him a few treats; and of course we did not try to muzzle him. He has not seen a vet basically since we got him (not since he bit her). I still worry how he’ll do with an actual exam — which is why I bring him in just to get him comfortable with going there.
Not much else to report this week.
Talk to me. Tell me in the comments:
Don’t you wish your dog could purr?
Do you find it hard to make the time for all your loved ones?
What person that is older than you inspires you?
I’m linking up with Amanda at Running with Spoons for her:
Now I have that song in my head! I do love to snuggle with the kitties. I try to take time to be with them when they want some love and Greg, too 🙂 Yay for Bandit progress!

Sorry about the earworm. 🙂
I do love to snuggle with Giz, and basically it happens morning, noon, and night. Although not as much when the weather is warmer.
But sometimes, it’s not what I want to do — I don’t really want to sit down, but I do it. For him. That’s my story & I’m sticking to it!

I have one cat that insists on my lap while I eat breakfast (which almost makes me late for work everyday) and another that sits on my lap when I knit in the evening. My other 2 prefer my hubby Thank God.
I have no aspirations on doing a head stand. Zero interest so no envy here. Katie Couric is an older women?? Not to me LOL.
I admire all those older ladies at races in their 70s or 80s who are still out there running. I hope that it is me.

Katie Couric is older than me. Even if you have no headstand aspirations, you can admire it!
Gizmo only lays on hubby — and only very occasionally — when I am not here. And yes, he lays on my lap while I eat breakfast. But not lunch or dinner.

I love that song!! And I have a dog who thinks she’s a cat and sometimes she does sort of a purring sound. It’s the funniest thing! Also, she wants to sit in my lap on the regular and she’s a lab. LAB. I tell her she’s a lab, not a LAP dog. Ugh. Haha!

Oooh, you need to tape the purring dog! I’d love to hear that! Bandit makes some really weird noises but it’s pretty random so I haven’t been able to catch it yet.

I’m still learning, and I’m still using the wall as a crutch and kicking up — but hey, that’s progress!
I also keep working on crow here & there, and I have a block I can put my head on — it’s all about the props for me, apparently!
