If all I did the previous week was clean, all I did this week was run the dishwasher! Seriously, it’s surprising it didn’t burn out (and it is still working fine months after not draining properly).

In the past I’ve gone the paper plates and plastic cups route for Thanksgiving, but since I decided to use my mother’s silver, that didn’t seem appropriate. And not just here sterling — almost half that table was hers!
I’m joining up with the Weekly Wrap from Holly @ Hohoruns and Tricia @ Misssipppiddlin to show that even when it gets tough, the tough keep moving — as much as they can!

Running updates
Monday
There was only one reason I ended up on the treadmill again today: time. The weather wasn’t that bad, despite the snow showers in the morning (yes, I said the dreaded s-world).
I also had to cut this run short by a mile too, again, due to time. Thankfully I’m not training for anything. Sometimes it’s nice not to be training!

Tuesday
It was going to actually be warm in the afternoon — after snow yesterday! — but Lola had her dental today and I wasn’t sure when I’d need to pick her up, so I went out & did 2 miles with Bandit, dropped him off, did my strides and cooled down.
It was a bright, sunny day, and I actually wanted to run longer . . . but alas, again, no time. Is running strides on a decline cheating? Running them into a 20 mph headwind makes up for that, right?

Thursday
I was solo for my Turkey Trot. I knew a few people who’d be there, but not enough to make plans to meet up with them and I didn’t bump into them before the race. Since I’ll be wrapping up my month on Tuesday, you’ll have to wait til the following week for the recap (unless I’m motivated to get it up Wednesday . . . maybe).
So, what do you think? It’s an odd distance; 3.5 miles. 3.5 hilly miles. Did I PR it?

Saturday
The group shifts from week to week, but we’re still mostly running long each week. Running Buddy J & I had swum together Friday (with Mr. Judy home, I had a bit more leeway with being out), and we ran together. Just keeping up the base.

Favorites of the week
I’m not sure you can actually call taking Lola in for her dental on Tuesday a favorite, especially not since she ended up having 3 teeth pulled, but she came through it beautifully. It didn’t effect her appetite/eating at all — in fact, she whined the whole way home from the vet — she was hungry! Although the vet warned her tongue might loll out since she lost a lower canine, it doesn’t, and I actually think she looks better without it (she had a very severe underbite).
Thanksgiving went well. Mr. Judy says my Dad didn’t like the turkey, but hey, I didn’t hear it so it didn’t happen, right? No one else complained. We don’t have to drive, the pups get to stay home, and my sister doesn’t have to host. It’s a win-win all the way around.

There was one minor incident with Bandit when my sister tried to gently move him and he growled at her. We can move him no problem, but obviously we still have some work to do with strangers.

And that’s a wrap
This week I am also linking up with the Sunday Fitness & Food Linkup brought to you by Ilka @ Ilka’s Blog and Angela @ Marathons & Motivation.
Let’s get the conversation started:
If you celebrated, how’d your Thanksgiving go?
Any great Black Friday deals (I didn’t buy a thing . . . yet)?
What leftover are you still loving (we actually had very few leftovers!)?
I’ve been getting Black Friday offers for races- I’m thinking of signing up for a series of 10ks at £20 each 😜

The races seem to miss me! Seriously, I’ve bought nothing . . . yet. There were a couple of things I wanted, but I didn’t do it fast enough. One changed price & the other sold out.

Looks like a great Thanksgiving. Who doesn’t like turkey? And who doesn’t love a low key turkey trot?

Actually, turkey really isn’t my thing, but I do love my turkey trot. And a friend did it for the first time this year — she’s thinking it needs to be a tradition, too.

I’m going to guess that you did PR your Turkey Trot – can’t wait to read your recap!
Happy to hear that Lola handled everything like a champ and that she didn’t lose her appetite!

Lola was really pretty amazing. Nothing comes between that girl & her food, LOL! And she’s 12!

Mmmm, pie(s)! With only the two of us for dinner, I only had TWO plates to put in the dishwasher on Thanksgiving – I still made most of the fixings to take to my Mom and eat as leftovers all weekend.

And I’ll bet your mom was happy! I know my mom wouldn’t eat when she was in the hospital last year (my Dad was a different story).

All the emails I’ve gotten since Friday have been for Black Friday deals. I normally don’t buy anything unless I know something I’m shopping for is on sale. I prefer to put up Christmas decorations that Friday and let the shoppers have the roads.

Oh, if I buy something, it’s online, for sure. Which we just did . . . not as good a deal as what I saw on Friday, but still a good deal. But zero shopping over the weekend! Today might be a different story. 🙂

I’m one of those oddballs who likes the dark meat on a turkey. Sadly, my MIL cooked two turkey breasts so I didn’t get any. I have no tempting leftovers or desserts since I didn’t host (wishing I did!). Hosting and cooking is a lot of work. I hope you’ve gotten some rest this weekend. Thanks for linking!

I only made dark meat; you would have been happy. 🙂
We actually didn’t have a whole lot of leftovers (which to me means I planned well), except for desserts. Some went in with Mr. Judy today.

I have not swam since August! I am going to have to start all over again I think. It’s kind of more annoying in the colder weather. I hear you on the dishes and cleaning up. We had 10 people for dinner and I am finally cleaned up today.

Well, I don’t know how much I’ll swim in the winter. It’s really hard to motivate yourself when it’s frigid out. But since I started putting my hair in a bun it stays pretty dry (I just do breast & I keep my head above water), so that makes it a little easier.
I started the dishwasher as soon as the soup & salad was done (multiple courses) and pretty much just kept it going. The only real pain was cleaning the silver, but it makes my mom happy to see it used.

Overall, out Thanksgiving went well (despite that icky tummy bug our daughter had for a couple days). I found some good Black Friday deals (on foot) and also this afternoon (via computer). win-win !!

I hosted mah jongg Friday so I have lots of leftovers from that.
No Black Friday. I’m trying to convince my friends and family not to exchange gifts. Friends are harder.
I’m trying to declutter my closets. 12 bags of clothes cleaned out today. And I’ve only just begun. Oy

You need to use the larger trash bags. I do!

Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving! Great job keeping up with all of your workouts this week. I totally think that’s a PR (especially if you haven’t run the distance before lol)!
I’m not a black Friday shopper but I did go out and pick up a few things on Wednesday.

Oh, there were definitely some skipped workouts last week & I have run 3.5 mile races before. There are actually a couple here (there’s one I do New Year’s Day).
I suppose the good thing about hosting Thanksgiving is that I’m too busy to shop!

It looks like you had a lovely holiday… and totally worth it, right! I’ve been eating leftovers all weekend… it’s the best thing about the holiday, haha. Black Friday/cyber Monday deals have sucked me in… I have a nice jump on my holiday shopping… yay!

We finally bought something today. Not as great a deal as what I saw on Friday, but still a good deal. Just been too busy to shop!
I’m actually happy that we don’t have a ton of leftovers. Of course they leftover the dessert, which is quite odd for my family — I guess I stuffed them too much. 🙂

I bet you did PR your turkey trot. 🙂 I bought a spiralizer online on black friday. I love it!

Looks like a great spread for Thanksgiving! And that’s good news that Lola handled the dental visit pretty well 🙂 I feel like it’s always a good sign when the pets are hungry!

That is one thing I look forward to at Thanksgiving is playing game with my family. We are so loud and laugh that I don’t think anyone could have slept during that if they wanted to.

Well, I was basically too busy getting dinner on the table to play, but I got to observe.
My dad is 91 . . . he sleeps a lot. Although my nephew is only 27; don’t know what his excuse was, LOL!

Happy Thanksgiving!!! It was a quiet one for us. We ran a 10k in the morning, fried the turkey when we got home and had all the sides on the table by 1p!! Nothing exciting on Black Friday for me, pajamas and running capris.

Running capris are always exciting. And nice pjs, too! I did make up for it big time on cyber monday.
