When the anti chafe gel I had been using for years disappeared from Amazon, I was very sad. It had served me well. Now what?
I had long heard about Squirrel’s Nut Butter (buy it at my Amazon Affiliate link here). It was time to give it a try! If you’re a male cyclist, you’ve probably heard about this one.
Great ingredients
You can’t get much cleaner ingredients than this:
- Coconut oil
- Cocoa butter
- Beeswax
- Vitamin E oil
Will it stain my clothes?
SNB goes on clear.
Is it sticky?
A little when it first goes on, but after that you really won’t know you’ve applied it. In a good way.
But does it work?
So far, so good. I did have one long run not too long ago where there was a little chafing in an unmentionable place, but I hadn’t applied anything there — because I don’t usually chafe there. You can bet I applied some the next time I ran long! No chafing the next time.
Final Thoughts
I liked that the previous anti chafe gel was a clear gel and went on very easily. SNB goes on clear, but it’s a roll on, so it’s a bit difficult to apply in those unmentionable places. In those cases, I usually just roll some on my palm to apply.
So far it seems to be doing its job, and truly, I love the ingredients.
Is chafing a problem for you? Not usually for me, which is sometimes the problem because it’s random!
If yes, what do you use for it?
Linking up with Zenaida Arroyo and Kim @ Kookyrunner
This week I am also joining up with the new Runners’ Roundup linkup.
I like that the ingredients are all pronounceable! 😄 Thanks for the review, Judy.
I rarely chafe, fortunately. I sometimes get chafing cream in my swag bag, but I always give it away. Plenty of people who need it!

I actually don’t chafe often, but it does happen & isn’t fun when it does.

Like Catrina I never chafe.
I’m sure many runners do and will appreciate this review

You’re very lucky. But of course we all have our different areas of struggle when it comes to running.

I used to chafe all the time around my sports bra then I changed the company I buy mine from and no more chafing! I know a lot of people love Squirrel’s Nut Butter and swear by it.

That’s great that you were able to solve the problem! Mine is utterly random so I’m usually lubing up the suspect areas (and then a different area will randomly chafe!).

I first heard of Squirrel’s Butter at a trail clinic in 2019! Everyone was singing it’s praises but I’ve never used it. I’ve had some very random chafing incidents but more recently on my back when I go for my long runs. I think it’s a combination of a poor bra choice and my backpack rubbing the wrong way. Not fun!

My chafing has always been completely random. Every time I think I’ve figured it out it rears its ugly head somewhere else!

Like you, I don’t chafe very often…so when it happens, it’s always an after-shock ordeal (like in the shower, LOL). I LOVE that this is made from natural ingredients!

The ingredients really are great. I mean, I could make it myself, but . . . not gonna lie, not happening!

I rely on compression shorts more than anti-chafe products, but it’s good to know about a good product. I think I have some really old Body Glide in my stash of random running gear.

The area I’m most likely to chafe is underarm area, so compressions really doesn’t work there, LOL!

Okay, am I the only one that thought you were reviewing an edible nut butter? Lol.
I don’t usually chafe either but did a couple races ago. I thought of applying some anti-chafe cream for my last race but forgot, fortunately I didn’t need it anyways.

Apparently you are not the only one that thought I was reviewing nut butter, LOL! I have tried a new one recently I liked, btw — from Soom — chocolate Tahini. I recommend that!

I don’t chafe very often but when I do, wowza it hurts. I do use body glide sometimes and have not heard of this one. I too thought it was an edible butter!

I’ve heard of this one for years, but I was happy with what I was using — until it disappeared!
You could almost eat this one. 🙂

WHAT? How are all these other commenters not chafing??? If I run longer than 5 or 6 miles, I will definitely chafe. I’ve recently been using this product and I love it. It actually does come in a different form- I have the roll on and a little tub of it, where you scoop some out. I like the tub better, but the roll on works as well. I was having major chafe issues from my hydration vest and SNB seems to have solved it.

I know that it’s not just you & me out there chafing! I’m sure for you a lot of that has to do with running in the hot, humid weather.
I figured it must come in a tub, which probably would be better for me. But for trying it out I didn’t want anything too large — even though I’d heard plenty of word of mouth that it was a great product.

I chafe mostly in the back because of my bra. It is hard to put any kind of glide back there. I do use it in my inner thighs because I don’t want to chafe there at all. I chafed really bad one year while running the Chicago Marathon – so bad that it hurt to walk! Never again!

I am sure if I ran a marathon there would be chafing. Just douse the entire body?

Also team random chafing spots. Today, under my arm. Luckily not too sore
Will look for this if mine is ever discontinued. I basically cover myself in all the spots where bra, shorts touch. Especially the waistband!

Underarm is a fairly normal p,ace for me. Rarely happens since I always apply something there. Never had the waistband thing — until one run I did. I’m always forgetting that one.
