Despite the very warm stay at my moms, I rallied back this week — which still only meant two days of running, but it is what it is.

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner, and grateful to be feeling better — I think some cooler weather for a couple of days helped; today, however, is very humid and then it’s supposed to rain for a couple of days — but we need that rain.

Running Update

Friday intention: keep it easy
A very Fall like morning got me out later than I probably should have gone, but it was lovely not to have to get out so early. I wasn’t sure I had 8 miles in me, but apparently I did. I was tired — and sore — the rest of the day, but all that was gone the next morning.

Sunday intention: easy + speed
In other words, a fartlek in the middle of a relatively slow (and very humid) run. Ah, the difference humidity makes! I was able to pick up the pace, slightly, for about a mile and a half. I saw a very persistent groundhog at this trail — although I’ve certainly seen groundhogs before, never at this trail. It was too buggy and humid to enjoy my post run snack outside, sadly.

Favorites of the week
I stopped at this Arboretum above on the way (well, sort of, it actually basically took me an hour out of my way, LOL!) to my mom. I thought I’d eat my lunch outside but you’re not supposed to so I ended up eating in the car. With all the pollinators around, that might have been a good thing.
Getting back home mid week and sleeping in my own bed, with the AC set to a comfortable temperature, was absolutely a favorite, too.
I’m not sure it was a favorite, but the other first was seeing a fawn (motherless) at my moms while I was there. I’ve seen deer there before, but I was actually able to get fairly close to the fawn — close enough to take some videos. It’s a busy road, though, so good luck little one.
ICYMI: I’ve got a lot coming this month on the channel! What runner wouldn’t like more open hips? Say yes and practice with me here, You can also listen to my Intro to Affirmations here, Good luck Affirmations here, and learn a Humming Bee Breath (and its benefits) here (which we’ll be using in all the practices in September).
Coming up on Friday: I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it! I do have several topics tucked away.
Congrats on a long run. You’re on your way to your half.
I did not think it was humid this am. It I was out early and only walking
Hopefully we will not get rained on tomorrow as I want to get in my Monday hike.

Depends where you’re going. A good chance of rain but not necessarily a washout.
Incredibly humid where I was. Luckily a shorter run and had nicer weather for my long run this week.

Even when I’m only away for a few days, it is always nice to be back in my own bed!
Nice going on the long run. Our humidity is not at its worst, but not as low as I like it yet!

No, not at its worst, but after a few nice mornings . . . anyway glad this was just a short run!

Great job on your 8-miler! Do you have a race on the horizon?

Maybe to the race. I have one in mind — a.though I’ve gone up to 9 miles before without a race! — we’ll see if I can get there.

Yay for a good Friday long run (that picture of the lake is beautiful)!
Too bad you couldn’t eat outside at the arboretum, but it sounds like you were more comfortable (cooler and away from the bees) in your car.
“…with the AC set to a comfortable temperature…” LOL I know EXACTLY what you mean, and I think you and I have even talked about that very thing. 😉

LOL, I actually recorded a short video there I haven’t uploaded yet, I walked in Monday, no AC at all on, it was 82 degrees in the apartment . . .

Nice work on that 8 miler! I saw a bald eagle on the road to my trail run today. There are a lot of them around here, but I’ve never been that close to one!

That is cool! We have them too, but I only see one once in a blue moon.

Sounds like a great week. Even though you only ran twice, you got in a long run AND a little bit of speed! I’m envious of your fall-like weather. And as always, I love your photos!

Well, there were only a couple of fall like days this week, but it’s definitely creeping in. Thanks, Jenny!

Indeed, Kim! I can get by without a hydration vest for 8 miles — even on hot days. Love my pockets. 🙂

It’s the best when the humidity gives a little bit of a break at we are speedy! Looks like a nice side trip to the arboretum.

Ugh, today was SO humid. It wasn’t hot, but the humidity was uncomfortable. Caught me by surprise.
