It was a busy week (for me, for some this would be all in a day!). We saw Mission Impossible and I gathered with my running friends outside of running for the first time pretty much since the Pandemic. Plus a little drive for lobster rolls & ice cream. So how did running go?

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner and a variety of runs.

Running Update

Monday intention: remind the feet to go faster
No, I am not training for anything. I believe you get the most benefit from activity when you’re not doing the same thing, day in and day out. You gotta shake things up sometimes! I was really shocked I felt good enough to run the next morning after visiting my mom but I did. Unfortunately Mr. Judy managed to disrupt my sleep early in the morning again, so even though I was up early I got out later than I wanted to — but it all worked out in the end.

Wednesday intention: rolling hills (is that speed work)?
I chose the way with plenty of hills — if you choose them. Which I did. Mostly small ones, just plenty of them. I’ve thought about extending my long run, but I see no reason to during Summer. Summer running will never be my jam.

Saturday intention: go long-er
You know those runs when you feel you’re running slowly, you look at your pace, and realize it wasn’t that bad? This wasn’t that. It was really slow. I think because I slept really poorly the night before (not idea why). It was really lovely running weather, too, so I can’t blame the weather! I wanted to hit the trails, but with a brunch to go to, there just wasn’t time. It probably saved me from more mosquito bites.

Favorites of the week
We went to see the Mission Impossible movie before it disappeared. I liked it, but thought it could be shorter (like, a lot shorter). Since we ran out of Yellowstone (the last season is not finished due to the strike, and that just left everything hanging), I decided we’d go back through the Mission Impossible movies. Since I don’t usually want to watch that much TV at night, that’ll take a while. My how young Tom Cruise was in that first one!
The next day we went out for lobster rolls at a new-to-us place and then ice cream at my favorite ice cream place — we hadn’t been there once all Summer. In fact, we only had ice cream one other time this Summer!
After my run, as previously mentioned, I joined my running friends for brunch. The stars just aligned that for once and I didn’t have other obligations.

ICYMI: Strengthen your hips and hamstrings while tapping into your Sacral Chakra and your creativity — click here for the video (live at 8 am). I am releasing a PDF with 5 Yin Yoga Poses to help with stress in Summer to those who want it in my FB group, which you can join here.
Coming up next Week: I guess it’s time for runfessions already!
That piano: wth?? Crazy. I’m pretty sure I haven’t had a lobster roll since I was in Cape Cod many years ago! Yum!

Mr. Judy LOVES lobster. Why do you think he loves going to ME so much?
I know — I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with the piano!

I only have eaten lobster rolls in Fla and NH and ME.
Yesterday’s rain was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity for running but I was looking forward to swimming and kayaking. I was even planning like the last time to bring my SUP.

I was pretty sure there wouldn’t be swimming. The forecast was pretty clear. I’ve had lobster rolls here (obviously), the same places as you, on the Cape — my husband LOVES lobster. Did I mention he loves lobster? What he doesn’t love is the price. Actually, we had them in Vegas a very long time ago, too.

That piano. Crazy!
So glad you were able to catch up with everyone.

Weird things you see running outside. Although you know I’m also okay with the treadmill! I just know I’m a lot more likely to be on it in Winter.

Yum! That lobster roll looks delicious!
Sounds like a really fun week Judy!

August has been a relatively fun month so far. And the lobster roll was pretty good! The fries were meh (IMHO); maybe next time we should try the onion rings.

You know summer running is not my jam either. Home stretch though we are almost to fall running weather!

The past two mornings here felt fall like! Which is great. We are definitely in the home stretch! Which is also a little sad (but nice for running!).

Nice way of mixing up your runs with speed and hills!
Oh, a piano out in the rain. That makes my heart hurt. Do you know the story behind it? Why is it sitting out?

I have absolutely no idea about the piano. It was just so weird! I’m guessing it’s pretty old, but still, I can’t figure out why they would have it out there.

You had a fun week! I agree that it’s good to mix things up, pace-wise. It’s not like I’m training for any road races where I think I’ll be running fast- it’s just nice to move my legs faster sometimes, instead of plodding along at the same pace.
This is the time of year where I start to get envious of everyone’s “lovely running weather.” It’s going to be super hot here for quite a while.

We do move back & forth at this time of year. And don’t forget, in just a few months it could be snowing here. That said I really wouldn’t want to run in FL in the Summer.

That piano, LOL! I an relate to the “weed” garden. I recently hired someone to tackle my numerous flower gardens. The weeds and random clumps of grass were just too much for me (I fail to understand how weeds and grass are so hardy, even in the midst of a major drought).

They do have someone cut it all down at the end of the Summer. We are not in a drought — quite the opposite! I have several plants that rebloomed & they never do!

We went to see the Barbie movie this past week. It was good! I did see the poster for Mission Impossible and I’d like to see it. Glad you got to hang out with your running friends (outside of running!) again!

We should wrap up watching the Original MI to the current one in a few days. Watching Tom Cruise age on screen . . .

Poor piano! I always seem to see toilets in people’s front gardens – everyone must be having their bathrooms renovated at the same time!

LOL we do see toilets occasionally but thankfully not too often!

Lobster rolls sound (and look) delicious! I’ve only eaten lobster on seafood platters. How fun to hang out with running friends!
Although pianos are not my thing, as a musician it still sort of hurts seeing a musical instrument abandoned outside. But is it made of copper or does it just look like it?

The piano was wood. Maybe they stripped it? No idea. It was near their garage, but we’ve had some heavy rainfalls so doubt it’s really protected. I assume they are getting rid of it.

Sounds like a good week!
I hope that piano was headed for the dump. I’m sure it’s worthless after the rain. 😦

I assume the piano will eventually be gotten rid of, but when you think of it, how do you get rid of a piano?

That poor piano!
And lobster rolls and ice cream??? Say less!
So I despise Tom Cruise, but I just can’t quit some of his movies. The MI series was so good, and I can’t help but be impressed that he does so many of his own stunts still.

LOL about despising Tom Cruise but loving some of his movies. It’s that damn Scientology.
So many actors have feet of clay (Kevin Spacey comes to mind).

I had lobster twice when we were in Maine last fall and I’ve got to say, I didn’t love it. My sister-in-law, though, had it every day! She’s gaga over it. 😀
What’s up with that piano? Such an odd item to leave out on the driveway.

Did you just have whole lobster or lobster rolls? They’re very different. Mr. Judy LOVES lobster but I usually won’t eat it. I do enjoy lobster rolls, though.

The only other time I had lobster was several years ago and had a whole lobster that time. In Maine, I got lobster rolls both time. I do enjoy crab very much though.

Well, both crab and lobster are pretty much equally expensive, unfortunately! But crab is readily available where you live. We used to go out for crab when my now husband came to visit me when I lived in MD.
