Running Update

Monday intention: remind the feet to go faster
I do like my strides on a Monday. It’s a cutback week (from what, you might ask?) for me this week, so a few less strides.

Thursday intention: run easy, recharge
Although I didn’t even make my base number of steps on Wednesday, it was a lot of driving. So a nice, easy run on a nice morning.

Saturday intention: maintain
It was supposed to be humid, but due to the ample cloud cover and getting out just a tad earlier, this run wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. That and not pushing in the least.

Favorites of the week
Like Darlene @ myfirst5k, I’d been closely following this local sunflower field. Although she went Monday, my friend couldn’t go then — which worked out well, we had such a gorgeous day for it! We enjoyed a nice lunch afterwards, and a visit to a nearby preserve that has amazing waterfalls (you can see those photos on my Facebook feed here).

We wrapped up the Mission Impossible Movies, where we realized that Tom Cruise is always running, climbing up something, riding a motorcycle, crashing a vehicle, and occasionally brought back from death. We were going to move on to the Indiana Jones franchise, but turns out we don’t have the first except on DVD and are too lazy to go through the hoops to play that. So we started the Marvel movies. That could keep us going a long time!

ICYMI: TCM recognizes a fifth season — Late Summer — and it’s important to start grounding after all the activity of Summer so you can go into the cooler, less active months feeling more balanced. Plus you’re strengthening your low back & glutes! — click here for the video (live at 8 am). I am releasing a PDF with 5 Yin Yoga Poses to help with stress in Summer to those who want it in my FB group, which you can join here. Plus I even have a new post on what to do when you get a cramp (on my Yoga blog here).
Coming up next Week: Time some hot or cold beverages & catching up with what’s going on.
Love the sunflowers — and the other flowers!
Those are weird mushrooms.

The mushrooms are, indeed, weird. We get some pretty odd ones up here!

I love the sunflowers! They just make me feel happy. I always seem to miss the bloom at the fields around here. Hoping to see some mushrooms on my trail run this morning.

I agree that sunflowers are like a dose of sunshine! Hope you found interesting mushrooms on your run!

As you know I visited the bigger sunflower field twice already and plan to go once more. Who doesn’t love sunflowers?
Lots of mushrooms on the lake George islands because of the rain.
Very sad that it’s getting dark earlier.
My hubby likes those movies. I rarely stay in to watch TV. And when I do it’s chick flicks on my iPad.
I bet you’re glad we didn’t get that Midwest heat. Our running weather has been nice.

Very happy we didn’t get that heat!

Sunflowers do always make me smile too. Those wildflowers are gorgeous. Seems like a lot of the flowers are starting to die at this point of the summer. Still lots of green here!

We’ve had SO much rain. Of course that’s also behind the mosquitoes. . .

Those mushrooms are freaking me out a little (I’m not a mushroom fan- long story but it involves food poisoning. I know you’re not eating those!) Your flower photos on the other hand are beautiful! And I like that first hint of fall in the trees. It’s coming!

Eek on food poisoning! Although I got a mild case (I think) from a restaurant salad once. Naturally before a race. Nope, those are not mushrooms to be consumed!

I love all the flowers! It was autumnal in the park yesterday with colour coming into the trees and some leaves falling.

We go back & forth between summer & fall. The weather this month wasn’t as bad as July.

All your flower pics are so beautiful! Believe it or not, I have never been to a sunflower field. I’d guess the bees would be plentiful? I know they are obsessed with my sedums.

SO many bees. But bees are not wasps! I’d never been to one, either, until a couple of years ago. Maybe they weren’t a thing growing up?

You took some great photos on your run. I often forget to stop and take pictures.

After seeing your and Darlene’s sunflower pictures, I added that to my fall todo list. 🙂 I would love to plant flowers for cutting, but most varieties are also loved by our groundhogs who get to them before I have a chance to cut them.

There’s a groundhog who lives next store & occasionally the babies come into the yard. Haven’t seen them at all this year. Although the rabbits do a good too.

That’s some lovely flowers, and the sunflower outing with your friend sounds lovely!
Here the signs of autumn come very late but there’s the autumn feel in the air in the mornings now. We usually get a lot of mushrooms in the garden.

Some mornings are Fall here, some are still Summer.

Brilliant flowers! Great photos too. There are so many varieties of mushrooms- those are not ones I have ever seen before, that’s for sure! Looks like a lovely week Judy!

I think you’re picking up some British talk (brilliant, LOL!).
The odd mushrooms we get in this lawn really makes me wonder what was here before us! Although I spoke too soon, I’ve had to pick more mushrooms in the last few days. Bandit never bothers them, but I do know people who’ve had dogs die from eating mushrooms. Things they never tell you when you get a dog (like you’ll have to pick up rabbit poop).

I didn’t have time to visit the large sunflower field here when they were in bloom in July, so it was nice to see your and Darlene’s photos.
It is crazy how over-the-top Tom Cruise’s stunts are and that he does them all himself, even still in his 50’s. I haven’t seen the new Mission Impossible movie but can’t wait to see it!

It was cool to watch MI from the beginning. They’ve woven the story through them all very well.

Bandit!
The Marvel movies will keep you on for a while. We just watched the Flash this weekend, which I mostly hated. There were some really great moments for old-school fans, but the rest was not my favorite.
Those wildflowers are so lovely!

We don’t have all the Marvels but even so it will definitely keep us going for a while!

I also just uploaded a short of Bandit. It’s really horrible, it took way too much time for 1 minute, then there’s a typo in the thumbnail & you can’t change that! Argh. You’d do a MUCH better job.

The wildflowers are so pretty!! We have gone twice to pick wildflowers in a local garden and I keep thinking I need to plant some of my own.

I feel kind of divided about growing things that need to be watered. But I don’t think that would’ve been a problem this summer!
