Thoughts from a run: Tea/coffee Date September 2023

Ultimate-Coffee-Date-1-300x300

I’m joining  Coco and Deborah and sharing thoughts from one August run, and a Bandit update.

This was the photo from 2022. No mosquitoes lurking then.

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d tell I set out on a run on a beautiful day in August, stopping to take a photo before the run. Turns out I’d taken a really nice photo on the exact same trail, in the exact same place one year ago to the day.

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d tell you that’s the day all the mosquito attacks began. I know many areas are in drought, but we are the opposite. I don’t think we got as much rain in August as we did in July, but there was still plenty of it and the mosquitoes are thirsty.

Now I have two! As long as I don’t misplace one. What are the odds? Probably high!

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d you that at the end of that horrible run, I was thinking about how nice it would be if I found my original boot brush, so I could have one in the house and one in the car. I found the original on the drive home that day.

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d tell you after that same run I was bemoaning to myself that the general store I was going to stop at never has chocolate chip scones. Yet that day they did — and it was delicious!

Still crazy after all these years

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d end with Bandit (again). It’s at least time to call the vet again. He’s doing okay, and thankfully still not coughing at night — it is most likely a matter of time, though. Because the coughing during the day is increasing again and that’s how this all started, with increasing daytime coughing. He’s still enjoying walks and he’s still eating relatively well.

I am thankful that I’ve been able to get out and about more in August, but it’s really hard on him. We went to see Oppenheimer this week, which if you don’t know is a very long movie (too long IMHO). He was okay, but it took a long time for his breathing to come back to normal when we got back home.

We actually have an appointment on Sunday now, which was shocking. In the way of dogs yesterday his coughing wasn’t so bad, but I know in my heart that it’s time for a recheck — before we get to the point where it’s really bad again. It’s odd because after his initial diagnosis Chester no longer coughed at all, and Lola never did (aside from her bout with bronchitis); but Chester was almost half the age of Bandit.

Have you found something that’s gone missing lately?

Every noticed you’ve taken similar photos on the same day?

  1. I just found stamps that I no longer need.

I have taken photos on the same week but rarely the same day. Sunday boating is not Sunday this year etc. Thursday hiking etc.

Not seen Oppenheimer. Most likely when it’s streaming. Too long for the evening. Weather is too nice for the weekend.

Sorry to hear about Bandits declining health.

    1. I think Oppenheimer would’ve been much better as a much shorter movie (and have other thoughts about it, but no spoilers — about the movie’s construction, obviously you know at least partly what happened).

I wouldn’t have known I’d taken the photo on the same day except it happened to come up in my memories that day; ironic!

  2. I definitely take WAY too many similar photos- I’ve been trying to branch out, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all to have pop up from a year ago that’s identical to one I just took. (Your photo from 2022 is beautiful!)
I haven’t seen Oppenheimer yet. I’ve heard that it’s long, and I’ve also heard that it’s amazing. So… maybe I”ll see it? I don’t see too many movies, so odds are I won’t get around to it.
I’m glad Bandit is doing okay- I hope the vet appointment goes well!

    1. I do have a lot of spots I photograph regularly but I always keep an eye out for the unusual.

Today Bandit is coughing a lot. 😦 I’m so glad we were able to get an appointment so soon. I really expected to have to wait.

  3. Yay for scones — they’re so tasty (it’s been a while since I’ve had one)!

Oppenheimer was definitely long but I really enjoyed it. I feel like I should’ve watched Barbie afterward (nice to end on a more light/fun note, haha).

Sending lots of love to Bandit! ❤ I hope the appointment goes well!

  4. We are definitely in drought conditions here and as a result enjoy very low mosquito activity. I did not see Oppenheimer but my daughter loved it. I hope Bandit hangs in there. He sure is cute!

    1. Thanks, Michelle. The rain has been off the chain this Summer! Mosquitoes too. I’m going to burn incense & a citronella candle while filming today, and hoping I can escape more bites.

One of the weathermen I follow had a photo of a tortilla against a blue background for the blue supermoon. 🙂

    1. Thanks Coco. Unfortunately it’s the nature of heart failure but I’m so happy we could get an appointment so quickly. I really didn’t expect that. I also think with some adjustments he’ll perk up again — he’s not doing too badly but you can just see him declining again. I didn’t expect it so quickly. 😦
