I think running is one of the best ways to see a new place, so I decided to backtrack on Tuesdays on the Run and share some scenes from some of my travel runs. Some are from racecations, some are from vacations, some I’ll tell you a bit about, some I’ll let the caption speak for itself, some were taken on the run, so to speak, some were taken while just walking around.
No, I didn’t run the Boston Marathon. I ran the one and only Runner’s World Heartbreak Hill half (yes, I ran up that Heartbreak Hill). But I wanted to see the Boston Marathon finish line and pay my respects. Just so happened the restaurant I wanted to go to was nearby.
.
My Gettysburg half was run just outside the battlefield. We’d never been, so we took a tour the next day.
I know a lot of these photos I haven’t shared on the blog — some of them I’ve never shared at all. Seeing new places on foot is the best! Nothing like a good scenic run/race to put you in a good mood.
I’m linking up with MCM Mama Runs, Marcia’s Healthy Slice, and My No Guilt Life for the Tuesdays on the Run linkup.
Do you love to travel? What were some of your favorite scenic runs?
These are fabulous! I’m so glad you decided to share!!!

Glad you enjoyed! The one near Seattle? It wasn’t so much that I was sweaty; it was all the moisture in the air (but not actually raining).
I’m sure you’re familiar with that. 🙂

Lol! Yeah, every once in awhile we get moisture here, haha!! 😀

I loved looking at these! What beautiful pics and awesome experiences. I have to get better about taking pics when I run away from home. Thanks for linking up!

Oh, I’m definitely always stopping to take photos! At home, too. Must be my husband’s influence.

I loved looking through your photos and, especially, how happy you look. I know my runner friends roll their eyes at all of my picture taking, but it pays off on those days when I get to spend a few minutes looking back. Thanks for sharing!

Really? Of course I run with Darlene, and she’s a blogger, so yeah, I guess we’re both always taking photos. 🙂
Yes, I almost always feel better after running! Sometimes I even smile during. 🙂

Gorgeous pictures. I never take pictures when I’m running since I’m so focused on the run itself. Plus, I mostly stick to neighborhoods so there’s not much worth seeing most of the year.

For me, it totally depends on the run. On vacation — yes, absolutely I’ll stop as many times as I want and take photos!
I run in my neighborhood a lot too. Then I rarely take photos — you’ll notice I didn’t share photos of my local runs, right?

Some very beautiful locations. You know I don’t like to travel but Zion was quite pretty.

Someday I will get there!

Such lovely photos here!!!! I normally never bring my running shoes when I go on vacation, because we rarely travel and I can always run at home. You’ve posted some great places to run, though!

I’ve been lucky. And I always bring my running shoes with me! I get to see so much more than my husband, usually.

hehe, that can be a good thing, too!

Great pics! I love racecations. Best way to see the city while your running through it.

Thanks you! Yes, I’ve been very lucky. Running in the mornings in Kauia before sunrise was incredible! I didn’t plan to do it, yet I did it almost every day.

You have run in some really great places ! Your pictures are gorgeous. I was watching Boston when the bombings happened. I cried all afternoon. I lived in Boston 5 years and have been back numerous times, but not since the bombing. I hope to make it back one day.

This was after the bombing. It was part of why I really felt called to run that half.
I never lived in Boston, but my husband grew up in Wellesley, and then is parents retired to the Cape.
We hadn’t actually been in Boston for years and years; we’d always gone to the Cape.
You run in some very lovely places on a daily basis! What I shared is definitely not what it looks like on a regular basis around here.
That would’ve been too boring!

I had no idea you’ve run in all those places. Your pictures are amazing!

Wow. These are great! I love to travel, but rarely have I run in the places I travel to. Which is such a shame because it’s such a great way to explore a new city // area!

I’m so surprised — a lot of people said they don’t run when they travel — I always do!

Kauai is most favorite place in the whole wide world. I love running there, though when I’ve been it’s either before or after the Honolulu Marathon, so the running was pretty light. One of my favorite scenic runs was in Paris, where my husband and I ran a triangle, which started near the Eiffel Tower, went past the Arc de Triomphe and Notre Dame. Running in new places is the best way to see a new city!

I wasn’t a runner yet when we went to Paris. 😦
We love Kauai too — we’ve been there 3 times in the last 10 yrs! I’m lucky.
I keep saying I’m going to try SUP, but I never get around to it.
When my husband used to travel more for work, sometimes I got to go with him. All our Europe trips were work trips for him.

Some beautiful places you have been!
My favorite are still in Montana when I visit my Mom. The lack of humidity and beauty is perfect!

That is on my list of places I’d like to go! No humidity is wonderful!

Beautiful scenery! I have two favorites. I love the Calloway Gardens half marathon which is in the Georgia woods (you’ll have to google the site to get an idea). I’ve run it multiple times. So beautiful. The other was outside Denver in the canyons of CO. Spectacular! And all downhill. I hope to repeat the one soon.

Ooh, I’ll definitely google that! Unless it’s in the summer. Not planning to do GA in the summer!
