Running updates

Monday
I spent the morning/afternoon desperately searching for Hannukah candles (came up empty) and at the movies. The temps plummeted and some freezing rain coated the driveway.
I figured I’d just try. Grabbed the trash and was like uh-oh, this is really iced over — but then the road itself was fine. I might have tried for more, but I didn’t want to worry about the roads icing up as it got dark. I just took it nice & easy & concentrated on staying upright.

Tuesday
I’d originally planned on running in the neighborhood, but since most of the snow/ice was gone, I just had to take advantage of clear paths and go run at the park again. Sorry, Bandit!
Nothing remarkable about this run, unless you consider the fact that the first three miles were almost all at the same pace. Snow is supposed to be coming back, ice maybe too, so I’m glad I got out here while I still could.

Wednesday
I don’t normally run three days in a row. A snowstorm was headed our way the next day, and I hadn’t run with Bandit in a while. I had to take advantage of clear roads while I could!

Sunday
It was a really nice day for a New Year’s Day race. Not too cold, no snow or ice on the roads (but still a little snow on the ground). Chatted with friends I don’t get to see too often, and others that I do.
Oddly enough, Darlene put her bag next to mine . . . without knowing that it was my bag!
I wish I could say I started the year with another PR, but I didn’t. But I enjoyed the “race” and the company — that’s really what it’s mostly about, right?
Favorites of the week
We started out Monday with a movie, and ended 2016 with a movie:”Rogue One” — Mr. Judy enjoyed it — I thought it was entertaining but didn’t live up to the hype; and “Lion” — I enjoyed it; Mr. Judy liked it but found it a little too slow.
Actually, we also watched “The Secret Lives of Pets” on NYE — I thought the beginning was just hilarious, and most of the rest just mildly amusing — but you’ll probably enjoy it if you’re a furmom/dad.
I talked a few friends into running this half. And they talked a few more friends into it. It’s going to be epic!

There were several of these trivets for Hannukah — one that looked like the boys (Simba & Gizmo), above, and one that looked like Bandit. They’re by the same artist that did the print of Chester after he passed. There was also a pair of small heart earrings.
And that’s a wrap
This week I am also linking up with the Sunday Fitness & Food Linkup brought to you by Ilka @ Ilka’s Blog and Angela @ Marathons & Motivation.
Let’s get the conversation started:
Did you make it to midnight?
Any New Year’s races?
Have you nailed down your 2017 goals yet?
I”m not minding our snow free winter at all! It’s nice not to worry about slipping. Altho yesterday I fell in the park while attempting one of my jumps! I got up and made sure no one saw me…

I’m cautious with the jumping because of that. We do have snow — not a lot, but enough to make a lot of paths icy. 😞

We recently went to the theater to see Passengers. I had low expectations, but ended up liking it. I did make it to midnight…if Eastern Time counts. It’s great you were able to run with friends today. There were no races around here. I haven’t made plans for 2017 yet. I’ve got to get the marathon out of the way. Your grass looks so green after being under the snow. Thanks for linking, Judy! Happy New Year!

Mr. Judy wanted to see Passengers but since Rogue One was his choice, I thought it was fair I got to choose yesterday.
Totally understand about getting through the next one before tackling the rest of the year.
Happy New Year, Holly!

I don’t normally see movies in the theater, but in November and December I saw three. I also got one trailer all three times, and the movie was a definite no the first time around.

Since our movies were technically in 2 different months (and one theater wasn’t a chain theater), we didn’t see the same trailers. That does get old!

I did NOT make it to midnight. We saw Rogue One last weekend – we might see La La Land tomorrow unless we’re motivated to do more around the house …

Mr. Judy is not a huge musical fan. I do want to see it . . . going to the movies sucks up so much time, though. Hopefully I’ll get to it — *I* love musicals!

That park you run in looks lovely! I haven’t had to run in any snow yet but I like the feeling of trying to get your run finished because you know its coming! I love seeing the sky before a snow fall!
Cool trivet, I’d like to see the one of Bandit. Did you post it somewhere?

No, I didn’t take photos of the other 2 trivets yet. I was just glad he didn’t get me one that looked like Chester — a year later & it’s still too raw for me.
It’s hard to get the runs in when the snow really takes hold — we’ve got some back on the ground and it would be easier to run at home today (and I’m sure Bandit would like that), but since Mr. Judy is still home I’m really tempted to go back to the park . . .

Awesome that you were able to get in so many runs before the snow and ice! 🙂

It’s almost always threatening snow or ice here! Although so far not so bad.

I did not make it to midnight. Tapped out at about 10pm. #lame Interestingly enough, I did wake up right at midnight to the sound of fireworks. That counts for something, right? haha
What a beautiful park to run in! I can’t wait until I can get back to running!

Kind of cool to wake up at the stroke of midnight.
I probably won’t be able to run in the park much longer — they clear paths but they’re still icy. 😦

Both Lou & I really enjoyed Lion. A late dinner kept me awake til the ball dropped.
Nice seeing you at our fun race. Hope there is more runs in our future and that the weekends are not rainy or snowy. I plan to run next Sunday.

It’s already hard to find clear places to run.
I really enjoyed Lion, too. Interested to hear what you think of La La Land.

I’ll let you know. Not sure where I will run this weekend.

Last weekend before a couple back to back races and I’ve actually enjoyed it. I had a very low key New Years Eve and even day. Still thinking about goals, leaning towards a mileage, maybe. Thanks Judy for joining us each week!

I’m still thinking about goals, too, but with Mr. Judy still home . . . just an excuse, really . . . it won’t be a mileage goal, though!

New Years Day run (with a few friends), certainly not a race LOL My calendar is slowly in the works….only two paid-for events at the moment…stay tuned 😉

I only have 2 paid races at the moment myself!

I have to remember how lucky we’ve had it in Philly…it’s been cold but not really icy or stormy! Nice job out there. I’ve heard great things about Wineglass…my fall is still a big question mark but that race sounds tempting!

But it does sell out (by March, I think).

I haven’t seen Rogue One and probably won’t. Although my boys really enjoyed it. I’ve been wanting to see Collateral Beauty but just haven’t made it yet. May wait on that one for “on demand”. I am however anxiously awaiting Patriots Day…the movie about the Boston Marathon bombing.
Btw, love the Hanukkah hat!
Happy New Year Judy!

I’m anxiously awaiting Hidden Figures. Which comes out a lot sooner than Patriot’s Day — that’s probably going to be a hard one to watch.
