Running Update

Tuesday Intention: easy
It had basically been a week since I’d run. The road by my friends’ house had no shoulder, and the paths I could drive to were mostly concrete. Not to mention the heat wave . . . I was still plenty active, but it had been a while since I ran! I was also still tired. Which showed in the pace. Forward is a pace. 🙂

Wednesday Intention: recover
Another cool morning — Fall is definitely on its way! It wasn’t hard to keep the pace slow enough to count as a recovery run and that was just fine by me. Mr. Judy was heading out on a walk with Bandit just before I got back to the house, so I joined them for my cool down.

Friday Intention: go long-er
Cooler weather. Good running weather. Some relaxing mornings. Nothing terribly exciting going on & that’s okay! Unfortunately, the top of my right foot hurt after this run. It was still sore on Saturday. Maybe I should have kept this run shorter since I didn’t run long the previous week. Hoping the soreness leaves soon!
Favorites of the week
This week was both busy and quiet. I did meet up with some running friends I haven’t seen in a very long time yesterday. I’m also really digging the Fall-like weather — it’s perfect for running!
ICYMI: If you’re traveling I have a great 20 minute Yin Yoga practice here. I also talk a little bit about what clothing you can wear to practice Yoga here. Hint: pretty sure the ancient Yogis didn’t wear tights and I love practicing in my pjs (which I didn’t mention in the vlog).
Coming up on Tuesday: Tips for new runners. On Friday I’ve got 5 tips for colonoscopy first timers. Yup, I went there. Nothing gross, I promise!
Glad you were able to enjoy some time away and see some friends. The cooler temps are a welcome chance. Looking forward to hearing your temps as I have my first Colonoscopy this year too

I knew a few people were having colonoscopies coming up so I figured I’d share. 😊 I am totally digging the cooler temps.

It’s alway nice to get away. Even for a short time.
Hope your foot pain goes away soon.

It’s much better today but still there so I’m thinking I might have to scratch tomorrow’s run. It’s tricky next week because I’ll be down at my mom again helping with a few things. It is what it is.

As you know, I had similar weather here as well. I don’t hate the cooler weather (it is refreshing), but it’s REALLY cold in the early hours (especially if I’m on the bike). But, that’s the change of seasons…I’d miss it if Ididn’t have it LOL

I’ve needed a sweatshirt for morning walks so brrrrrr to the early morning rides! I know you love them, though.
I didn’t miss the seasons when I lived in TX but everyone is different.

Ha, you saw the apple and I saw a snake this week on the trails. EEEEEEK It was only a little garter snake, but snakes just give me the willies.
Hope your foot pain calms down quickly. I’ve had that before!

Little snakes really don’t bother me but sometimes when they just suddenly slither out it’s definitely off-putting.
So what was it when your foot hurt that way? It’s a lot better today but still a little sore so I’ll probably keep taking it easy another day.

Happy to hear that you enjoyed your time away and that you were able to meet up with friends! One of my best friends is visiting NYC in 2 weeks and I’m hoping we can get out schedules in sync so that we can meet up 🙂
Sorry to hear about your foot pain and hope it starts to feel better soon.

I definitely hope you are able to coordinate with your bestie!
The foot is better, but not completely normal. Sigh.

The mornings are feeling very autumn-esque in Minneapolis too! I don’t mind, but wasn’t ready for the darkness yet.
Hope the foot pain goes away Judy!

Thanks, Jessie, I was hoping to run tomorrow but I think I’ll have to give it another day. I definitely don’t want a stress fracture!
Luckily I don’t generally have to get out super early in the morning. 🙂

It’s crazy how quickly fall seemed to sneak up on us! Not complaining. The cooler nights and mornings are so nice. Hope your foot is ok!

I find seasons here, at least seem to be that way. One day it’s suddenly fall (even if it’s not fall yet).

We’ve had a few days of fall weather, but it’s too soon for us to count on the summer humidity being gone for good!
I love those fall plantings too! Great colors.
Glad you had a good week at home.

Same here, too, but looking ahead it looks like we’ll continue with some seasonable weather, which is a nice change!

Every day it’s seemed better. I think I’m going to try a rest run tomorrow. Fingers crossed that’s behind me!

Hmm, if your foot just feels kind of irritated, you could try lacing your shoes a different way. There are YouTube videos on how to do it, but basically you do it so the laces don’t cross over themselves, and it takes some pressure off the top of your foot.
Glad you’re getting some cooler weather and yes- forward is a pace!

I’ve had something like this on my foot (not the one with the Achilles, of course) before, but this was a lot sorer. Each day it seemed better. Hopefully tomorrow it will feel normal!
I wasn’t on a hilly path or running fast, so I think it was just too big a jump in mileage. Never really had a problem with that before.

Glad you could enjoy some time away and meet your friends.
I hope your foot gets well soon. I had a similar problem and the pain disappeared in a couple of days with no cures. I am sure you will come back to run very soon.

I think (hope) my foot is the same, I’ve taken a few days off of running and and hopeful tomorrow will be fine.

Today was a bit warmer, but still, pretty seasonable so I’m happy. I’m really just happy that I don’t have to get out there so early in the morning!

Oh, I wish we had apple trees. That would be so very nice. Last year, we went apple picking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and it was heaven. I will have to get my fall fix vicariously through you.
So happy that you are running!

We always went apple picking growing up. Now there’s just too many stinging insects at this time of year!
