Let the Sun Shine: 4/25 – 5/1 WRD

Some days, anyway. More sun then we’ve seen around here lately, with a truly lovely weekend and I’ve been spending time soaking up some Vitamin D outside. Sadly no hikes this week, but I think I actually needed a bit more downtime this week.

Running Update

iPhone does a great job capturing daffodils blowin’ in the wind

Wednesday Intention: get strong
An easy run with not-so-easy hill repeats. Sort of easy: since I walked down, it was a very slow mile. The wind was back. The sun was in and out and I thought my Winter hat was overkill at first but was very grateful for it by the end of the run. I have a few potentials picked out as a May 5k, but no particular attachment to anything.

When your clothes match the magnolias you stop & take a photo

Friday Intention: fast finish
Yes, more wind, and still cold enough for a Winter hat (in the morning). You may have noticed the sunshine though! An easy run with about 7 x 200m strides at the end. A strong run and a fast last mile — because I do pause my watch while walking back to start the next stride. So don’t be too excited.

Finally able to ditch the damn Winter hats!

Sunday Intention: a little speed in the middle
Wasn’t easy to make up my mind for today’s outfit. I went with capris (they’re so comfortable and love that have 4 pockets — 2 large, 2 small. I still needed more pockets though! So I started out in the vest & then dropped it off at the car before finishing off my last 2 miles. A strong run with pace all over the place!

Sadly no hikes this week; daffodils blowing in the wind from the previous week at Montgomery Place

Favorites of the week
Nothing terribly exciting going on this week. Mr. Judy was knee deep in yard work. I was catching up on some Yoga work and reading, sometimes outside which makes me happy! It seems we are actually having a Spring this year (sometimes), another thing that makes me happy.

ICYMI: Take it easy while gathering up your scatter thoughts. You mind — and your body! Will thank you! Join me here. What’s the deal with Inversions? Listen to my short vlog here.

Coming up on Tuesday & Friday: Tuesday I’m wrapping up April. On Friday I’m joining the Coffee date with tea or hot chocolate — and putting a slightly different spin on our monthly get together.

  1. I’m knee deep in yard work. It’s more tiring than running.

A cold windy week. I’m sure I was in a winter hat.

Today was warm. Ran in a skirt 3 weekends in a row. Woo hoo. It’s the little things.

There are so many 5ks I’m sure you’ll find one if you want to. I’m sticking to longer ones in May. 5ks are hard. Lol.

      1. I don’t care about the weather for a race. Obviously. I sign up way in advance. But so far beside Florida it’s been dry.

  2. We haven’t been able to do much yard work because we’ve had so much rain! Cocoa has been enjoying playing in the mud, which means she’s had a few baths. When will she learn?

Hoping you have a good week!

  3. Sounds like you had some nice runs this week! Seems like a more laid-back week which must have been nice. As usual, I love all your photos. The windy flower pics are great!

  4. Great week, Judy! Just when I wash and put away my ear warmer headbands and gloves, it gets cold again and I have to get them back out. Surely, since it’s May 1st I won’t need them again until late fall.

  5. Oh, I love those daffodils in the first pic! I don’t see white ones very often. Like Deb, I’m ready to wash my head gear “one last time,” but that ritual has been on repeat for the last several weeks.

  6. I love all the flowers in your photos. I am not good at yard work or plants sadly. We also had a lot of wind this week but I have decided I am wearing spring clothes 🙂 Have a great week

    1. Thanks, Deborah. Layers are still the way to go here!

I gave my mom an arrangement of bulbs recently. After the flowers die she plans to give me the bulbs to plant. Not sure if they’ll grow but it will be fun to see if they do!

  7. I can’t remember the last time we actually had a blue sky here. The rain and overcast are soul sucking. The wind seem to be never ending. We do have goslings in the yard as of yesterday. They all went for their first swim today. Hooray for ditching the winter hat at least!

  8. I hate yard work, but I do want to do some potted flowers next weekend … and see if I can plant the peppers from my Aerogarden, since they’ve really outgrown it.

I don’t really have any spring racing plans. Lawyers Have Heart is in June, but I might have to be in Chicago that weekend.

  9. Yay for reading outside! We got the lawn mown (Mr Liz) and the big St Johns Wort bush at the front and some of the buddleias pruned – wrong time for the St J W but it had got massive and gets in the way of us taking our wheelie bins in and out of our front yard, so I had to do it really carefully and it took ages.
