Looking at the week, it doesn’t look like I did that much. Not noted is the three Yoga videos I filmed this week — finally catching up a bit. I actually cleaned a lot of our windows, too — it’s been bothering me for a while, and the longer days are helping my energy. The weather was actually relatively nice this week, and I really meant to do one of those runs outside — but chose to run inside and go on the longer walk with a friend outside. Getting outside doesn’t always have to be running (for me).

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner — happy to get in three short runs this week.

Running Update
Wednesday intention: take it easy
I ran into a slight problem with the Peloton You Can Run program — it literally forces you to take the prescribed number of rest days. You’re only running two days a week! So I just substituted a 20 minute easy run which went pretty well and the pace was decent — except I forgot to stop my Garmin as I did the cool down. I assure you it didn’t take me 25 minutes to run/walk 1.5 miles (even if it takes longer than that to walk Bandit that distance). Not that there’s anything wrong if it does take you that time!
Friday intention: keep going easy
Into the fourth week of the Peloton program. Three 4 minute blocks of easy running that somehow felt hard. I really dithered about getting out to run, as the morning was warm (it was very windy & much colder later). I ended up on the mill so I could squeeze everything in. Hoping to run outside Sunday . . .
Sunday intention: go a little longer
Obviously I didn’t get outside today, but that was because I wanted to squeeze in this run and shower before meeting up with my friend to walk. Again not “rested” enough to continue the Peloton program, so I chose a 30 minute progressive “beginner” run. Somehow this run felt kind of hard to. Very slowly increasing the distance. I’d rather come back strong than quickly (literally, I guess, LOL).

Favorites of the week
OMG the neighbor’s puppy is the cutest thing ever. Not so cute? The fact that they take this tiny ball of fur out off leash, and the minute it sees Bandit (and I’m guessing any other dog) it will just run out in to the street.

Getting together with a different friend whom I haven’t seen in a while; we’d tried a few times but the schedules never matched up. Such a lovely day, too. February is usually the worst month of the year weather-wise, but not this year, thank goodness.

ICYMI: I am seriously losing track of my videos, but this is a great Yin Yoga practice for runners; it works the entire posterior chain. Practice with me here.
Coming up on Friday: Maybe I’ll recap January? It’s been a while since I recapped anything!
Great job getting it done and staying active, Judy! Some of the Peloton series get lost on my app…I know they’re there, but trying to find them back (usually last minute) results in a lot of frustration on my part. I’ve been doing the Split Strength Program with JJ. For the first two weeks, it showed on the main feed (I think) and I could click-it and it would continue from where I’d left off. I don’t know if the format of the feed changed, but I’ve had to go back through my previous workouts and just repeat them. It all worked out in the end, but I doubt I got “credit” for completing the 3-week program (?).

Thanks, Kim! Personally I don’t care about badges or credits — but yes, the app can be confusing! This week will be a little harder to juggle since it includes a visit to my mom.

Agreed some of the programs can be hard to navigate the structure of. Sometimes is requires some work around. Seems like we are all having a warmer than usual February! Have a great week ahead

You have a great week too, Deborah! I am perfectly content with a warmer February! We’ve even had sun sightings. 😊

I’m happy to see you got some runs done. I think following a program like that would drive me mad – I want to decide for myself when to do what and how much I need to rest in between. Your weather looks sunny and nice!

Yes, the weather has mostly been nice. A few very cold & windy days here & there.
I definitely have no problems modifying Peloton classes for my own needs, but enforced rest seemed a bit odd! I guess they just want to make sure people don’t burn out. Oddly enough in another FB group I ran across someone else also doing it.

I’m all about playing outside in any form
And yes, I often add my own workouts to the prescribed ones. It’s about making it owrk

Hopefully tomorrow we’ll get a scenic walk.

I’m not a fan of prescribed workouts, especially when it comes to running. I know a lot of people like them, though. It’s great that you can use it as a framework and plan your workout around it.

For me it makes treadmill workouts easier. It’s still cold in the morning even though we’ve been enjoying some nice weather!

I have noticed that the sun is coming up earlier in the mornings and that makes me very happy! I hate the extended period of darkness this time of year.

I notice more that it stays light longer, but the earlier sunrises are nice, too.

I swear I don’t know about half of the Peloton stuff that’s on the app until somebody mentions it on a blog. haha! Nice job getting everything done last week. That pup is super cute but no bueno to running in the street. So scary. Our February is shaping up to be pretty stellar in the weather department as well. I hope I didn’t jinx it!

The puppy was at it again today. Obviously not puppy’s fault. I don’t know why they won’t leash him! But he’s SO freakin’ cute. Seriously just adorable. I wish I could’ve known Lola or Bandit at that age! Bandit has been surprisingly tolerant of him. He even play bowed to him a couple of times today.

I’m glad you’re having a nice February! I remember this month as being SO AWFUL when I lived up north- but it sounds like everyone is pretty happy with the weather this year.
You did a lot of yoga this week! I stopped doing yoga because of a wrist issue, and I miss it. I’m hoping to get back to it eventually.
The puppy…. so, so cute. I hope they’re careful with him running into the street like that!

Yup, February is usually the WORST — my Dad almost had to deliver me in the car due to a snow storm. But not this year!

ah, what a cute puppy! Was Bandit friendly to him?

Bandit has met up with him a few times (puppy comes barreling out of nowhere, makes a beeline for Bandit, rolls over onto his back, then lays down between my legs, LOL).
I don’t think Bandit is quite sure what to make of him, but as time has gone on he’s play bowed to him a few times — not sure how accommodating he’d be to longer exposure to that little bundle of energy, though.
He’s sooooooooo cute though!

I cannot remember the last time a February was this mild – I’ll definitely take it!
I think there’s so much that could be done to make navigating the Peloton app easier and more intuitive.
