The temps dropped 40 degrees over night. Goodbye Spring, “welcome back” Winter. Gratefully it’s just a bump in the road on the way to “real” Spring.

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner and slowly adding on a little mileage.

Running Update

Wednesday intention: go easy
I didn’t want to push anything since there was a very slight knee niggle. I was brought up short by this tree across the path almost immediately, but it was the only one actually blocking the path. I’d forgotten how hilly this path is. Nothing killer, but rolling hills the whole way.
I was working on negative splits until that last uphill mile.

Friday intention: still taking it easy
Knee feeling good but really no reason to push it. I did some really short and easy pickups in the middle. Negative splits again — which really surprised me.
Sunday intention: take it easy but add a little speed
I don’t want to strain my knee, but man, my runs have been so slow! A little speed won’t hurt, right? I retreated back to the treadmill today. Very windy and very cold and I know there will be a very icy area on the road I can’t avoid.
I chose a Peloton intervals run, which was a bit disappointing — not so much speed, really. Got in my 3 miles anyway.

Favorites of the week
Life has been pretty quiet lately — which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. We are in the planning staging of an upcoming trip, so that’s exciting.

The crocuses have clammed back up due to the very cold temperatures again. The good news is looking forward it should warm up (warm being a relative term, at least warm for here during Spring) quickly. Please God could this be our last morning in the feels like low 20s? Thank you.

ICYMI: This Yin Yoga practice should feel great — and even helps to strengthen you upper body. Practice with me here. If you’re short on time I’ve got a shorter Spring Yin Yoga practice here, too — I’ll let you know what’s coming up in April. Hint: there’s some Runner Yin Yoga coming!
Coming up on Friday: Time to chat over hot beverages. Today I need that hot chocolate!
tell me about… We ran in that wind today!! Happy to be inching up my miles up to 6.
glad to hear that your knee is not affecting your running.

Zero desire to run in that wind. It should not be this cold in April!

well it wasn’t cold yesterday and hopefully will warm up. Crazy weather!!
No one WANTS to run in bad weather but you do what you gotta do. We survived.

We haven’t seen 70 yet this year! But yes, the wind has been brutal. So many downed trees in the woods. It looks like a war zone!
I hope your knee calms down. At least I know what my niggle is and I do my VMO banded work to pull that kneecap back in place.

Thankfully it seems to be ok. I had recently read a Yoga therapy book & I’m really liking exercises from it. They’ve helped a lot!

How depressing with that weather! I really hope that warmer weather is coming. The crocuses are wonderful. The purple ones are the prettiest. And I love your colourful running shoes! It’s great that you get some running done even if it’s slow.

Well I haven’t had to shovel snow in a couple of weeks & that makes me happy! It was sunny today, but very cold!

That’s some progress at least!

Oh, can’t wait to hear about your trip!
I find a lot of the Peloton interval runs are more like tempo runs — with longer blocks of work. At least now you can check the class program to find out, but that’s time consuming.

Well we’re just in the planning stages.
Yes it was more like tempo intervals & that was not what I wanted. Oh well I got it done.

We’ve lost so many mature trees in the area, it’s kind of sad. Wow I’m jelly you’ve got blooming flowers in your area. Nothing even close here just yet, although I’m hopeful this week will be a bit milder…after more severe t’storms tonight. Ugh.

Well with a couple of mornings in the 20s those bulbs are closed up tight. Nothing to see here. 🙂

“False Spring” is still going on strong here. I can start off the day with a scarf and coat and then only need a sweatshirt by late afternoon, lol.

Spring is coming, if the extended forecast is correct. I’m excited! I can’t really remember the last time we had Spring.

No trees down here that I’m aware of even though it was quite windy here over the weekend (at least it wasn’t frigid)! Now that it’s sunny and warm, work and my dermatologist appointment are going to keep me from going out on a nice long bike ride until Thursday when it’s supposed to rain all day. Oh well…

Oh I’m sorry you can’t take advantage of the nice weather. That’s always a bummer.

Poor old crocuses! We’ve been up and down with the weather, we’ve had three lovely sunny days, and I’ve been for two walks in my lighter coat, hooray, but it’s supposed to rain ALL this coming week. Sorry I’m behind, only skating through a few, cherished blogs till I get caught up …

No worries. I’m sorry you still can’t run. Spring can be an iffy time weather wise!
