I was listening to a talk this morning and they shared this quote from Albert Einstein:
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.
I realized that even though I’m a pretty positive person, I have gotten a bit into that rut of woe-is-me lately. So take note of all the miracles in your day today: you got up, the sun is shining (even if it’s cloudy), you had food to eat and water to drink, shelter when you need it, nature just waiting for you to be out in it.
Find your miracles today, my friends.

Running Updates
Monday
My RHR said today would make a good rest day (especially after a restless night), and I went back & forth, but decided to take it to the mill for a short, easy run (it’s just faster that way for me). I was happy that this time, unlike last week, I actually felt better post run.

Wednesday
At my mom’s again, wasn’t sure if I wanted to run when I got up after lots of driving the day before to take her to see my dad, but as the morning went on I felt better so decided take on the hills again. It went pretty well til the last mile, which has some really steep uphills I was forced to walk up at times in order to keep my heart rate in check.

Friday
It was a beautiful morning. I got out late, but not too bad. Yet another slog while trying to keep my heart rate low. I feel like I’m getting slower and slower, although I know it’s mostly the result of too much stress and not enough rest. Better slow than sick, I figure.

Favorites of the week
Mr. Judy was away until essentially Friday, which was his birthday. He wanted lobster for dinner, but asked for deli for lunch. I suggested the brownie sundae we shared — I generally only get one once a year!
We had a late lunch due to my run, and we were both full a long time afterwards. He didn’t get that lobster — although he had that last night. Brought me home some sushi/sashimi, too, as I’d spent the day driving my mom to CT to see my Dad. I was extremely tired when I got home.
My sister & brother were there in CT, too — my brother lives on the west coast, so hadn’t seen my parents since almost February. He happened to be in town for his daughter’s college graduation so went the extra mile, literally, to make the visit to my parents. Always good to see him, but of course the circumstances are difficult.
I initially had planned to run today, but my RHR told me I was better off with a rest day today. I was excited to be able to run four times in one week, but again, better to stay healthy.
I am teaching yoga this week with one of the chiropractors at the practice I go to. I’m very excited and really hope she enjoys it!
What miracles did you notice today?
Is it feeling like Fall today? Here it feels like summer today! Except for the nice, cool mornings.
What’s one of your favorite food indulgences?
I also try to find my miracles. There are so many times I am happy about and grateful for in my life. However, there are not so positive things but those are the ones that make us stronger and sometimes see things in a different way. Right now it is a mixture of fall and summer. It is warming up again with high humidity but I also like it when it cools down.
Happy Birthday to your husband! Thinking of you. Get some rest.

Thanks, Zenaida. I have a few days home before I will be going back. That’ll be another really long day, though, as I don’t plan to stay over.
The cool mornings are absolutely a blessing right now!

I hope things go well. I know it isn’t easy but I hope it does. Things are a bit easier now for us and I am so happy about it.

You are so right that it is easy to get into negative thinking when something does not go your way. There is always something to be thankful for even on a bad or stressful day. Glad you and your hubs had a nice date. Hope you enjoyed your ice cream 🙂

The sundae was wonderful, as always. And plenty big enough for us to share, too! We were both so full after that.

That is one good looking sundae! I can imagine how stressful it must be to care for your parents the way you do. I’m glad your brother paid your dad a visit.
It’s always a good thing to take a step back and objectively notice where one’s headspace is. My BIL lost his job last week. It’s the 4th time he’s stayed at a company that was struggling financially and “rode it out” until it his position was eliminated. I’ve watched my mom and my sister go through the “victim” mindset . They can’t understand why “terrible” things keep happening to him. To me his pattern of inaction is pretty clear.

My guess is my brother doesn’t know how many more visits there will be. He really kind of killed himself to get there,
That’s kind of said about your BIL, mom & sister. 😦

I really love that quote! I’m usually a glass half full person but sometimes I can be negative, especially if I’m very stressed out. Thanks for the reminder to be thankful for miracles every day – there’s so much to be thankful for.
I hope that you’re able to get some extra rest this upcoming week.
Happy belated birthday to your husband!

Well, right now as it is, I only have to go down to my mom (and dads) one day this week. It’ll be a very long day, but I’ll also get to sleep in my own bed every night, which hasn’t happened in a couple of weeks.
Thanks, Kim! Have a great week!

Our weather feels like yuck today LOL Kind of cool and damp (#rain), but at least it ain’t snowing 😉 I actually spent some of the morning in the ER with my parents…my father woke up and had severe pain in his foot and was having difficulty putting any weight on it. Turns out, it was “just” Plantar Fasciitis….not an easy condition, by any means, but definitely much better than a fracture…so, I consider that a substantial blessing for today.

Oh, we were hot yesterday. Summer hot. We bathed the dogs. And this morning is disgustingly humid.
I am so sorry you had to spend time at the ER. That’s the worst. Unfortunately my sister is always the one that has to deal with that, because she’ lives so much closer than me. Someday she’ll move (as will we), but I’m definitely hoping not while we’re still dealing with all this.
Glad it was PF? Well, never glad for that but yest, better than a broken foot!

I hope your yoga class with your chiropractor goes well this week!
It is NOT feeling like fall here. Yes, the mornings are cooler, but today it has heated up to 89°. I didn’t let that stop me from putting up my fall wreaths on my front doors yesterday, though.
In the dessert department, my favorite indulgence is mint chocolate chip ice cream. I know it’s pretty simple, but hands-down it’s my favorite. Oh course, throwing a brownie underneath wouldn’t bother me at all. 😉

No, it isn’t fall like here either right now. We got up to 86 here yesterday!
Nothing wrong with the simple pleasures in life. 🙂

Congrats on your first yoga teaching gig!!
Thanks for the reminder about being positive – I’ve been down in the dumps lately – nasty people at work, sick hubby, broken washing machine and the list goes on and on but as they say “This too shall pass.”
Lots of positives lately: No rain after work all last week, I am healthy, I am blessed with so many supportive friends, I have a job to pay the bills. Yes life is good.

I thought your folks were in the HUdson Valley too – didn’t realize you had to go to CT. Stay safe with all the driving.
I definitely try to look on the bright side, but I could be better
great shot of the bees

My parents are in the hudson valley. But my dad is in rehab in CT. And my mom has basically no way to get there (30 min away) for the most part unless my sister or I drive her. My sister works & right now is her busy season — if it weren’t for my brother coming in, she wouldn’t have been there.
The original plan was I drove to my moms & then my sister drives us to CT, but my brother came in on a much later train than expected due to flight delays, so I drove my mom to CT & then drove home from there, with my sister taking my mom & brother back.
I was proud of myself for taking the photo of the bee, because I’m scared of them! Although less so of bees than hornets.
When we went out on our deck to bathe the dogs yesterday, there was actually a queen bee & a worker bee — mating? or maybe she was feeding the worker bee? Don’t know. Mr. Judy managed to eventually sweep them off because Bandit has a nasty habit of trying to eat bees.

Glad Bandit and the bees are apart. My friend’s cat foes that. Luckily isn’t allergic, but somehow never learns despite the stings

My cat would try to chase bees on the rare occasion they got inside.
Bandit hasn’t actually caught any luckily — yet!

Positivity can really help in stressful times. I am usually a very positive person, but luckily have not been hit with a tide of challenges that would test me either. Keep up the good thoughts. I’m sure you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders at times lately!
We have an ice cream shop just a mile from our house and I keep thinking we need to stop by again before it closes for the season. Gotta make that a priority! Your treat looks awesome.

Stuff with my parents have literally been going on, off & on, for years. Probably the last time my Dad was in rehab, 5 years ago, started it all off. At least it’s not constant.
Luckily this ice cream place is close, but not that close (although a mile would make for a great run, right?). Usually I just get a kiddy cup , but once a season I really do enjoy me a brownie sundae. Usually around some heavier running, but I wasn’t going to deny myself even though I’m not running as much. 🙂

My favorite indulgences are the salty kind – probably a big pile of nachos or chips and queso.

I often do like salty after a race. I am a salty runner (hey, that would make a great name for a blog, right?). Eating something salty can help prevent the post-race cramps sometimes.
I don’t really see a whole lot of rest going on in the next few weeks, but yes, this week was a tiny bit better (especially since I should be sleeping in my own bed all week, as far as I know).
