Thankfully I’m feeling okay (well, except for the foot — which is on and off) — but sleep has been meh for a while. So it was a scaled back week, but there was a nice mixture of fitness all the same and I’m okay with it. I’d rather rest more than get sick by pushing too hard..
I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner and trying to find that right balance between activity and recovery.

Running Update
Tuesday intention: test out foot
Had to take it slow — the rest of the neighborhood was much clearer (we live on a dead end), but there were icy patches here and there I walked gingerly over.
Friday intention: time on my feet
This was actually the nicest weather I’ve had for a run in a while. I was able to step back to my transition leggings, rather than the Winter leggings I’d planned, and it wasn’t too windy. I’d like to say it was faster than Tuesday, and it should have been, but really not by much. Winter running is kind of like Summer running — they’re both hard, just in different ways.
Favorites of the week
The snow melted quickly. We had a lot of rain yesterday — but you don’t have to shovel rain, thankfully. Now it’s turned cold; if the storm had been today we’d look like the midwest.
Other than that really just chugging along.
ICYMI: Oops! I need to change the thumbnail; today’s practice is more about hips than the low back (and there is some funny parts near the end when that black thing on the end basically falls!) — click here for the video (live at 8 am).
Coming up next Week: WRD.
The weather is blur but eventually I will be struggling to find time to run.
Too bad about the foot. Hope that goes away for good.
And yes happy it was rain not snow. I want all our bike paths to stay clear for running.

It’s a blur for me too, but I do have my photos.

We had much more rain and wind and no snow yet! Like you said, you don’t have to shovel rain but it is not as pretty to look at. Hope your foot continues to feel better. Stay warm and dry!

My mom lost power yesterday for a few hours but knock on wood we’ve been okay. Very cold & windy here today. Brrrr!

We have a ton of snow and it is cold, so I’m stuck inside today. Enjoy your snow free conditions!

You guys definitely got hammered. If it had been colder yesterday we’d have a ton too — today it would have been all snow. Although apparently we might get some snow squalls today. Winter makes us tougher, right?

Sorry your foot continues to nag. My hamstring is teasing me with good days and bad. I think I have to ignore the good days — and not take them as a sign to do more.

Well my foot is clearly aggravated by running but it’s not that bad. Of course only a runner would say that, LOL! Then some days the Running doesn’t seem to bother it as much. Anyway ordered some new shoes (not running) . . .

“You don’t have to shovel snow,” LOL! It’s crazy how much snow we have and how much rain you have out there. Looks like ours is here to stay for awhile since the forecast isn’t showing anything above freezing for awhile…at least it’ll be above ZERO in a few days, woot!!!

We also having a frigid week next week but not quite as bad as yours. Your weather reminds me of when we lived in VT! I didn’t line it even way back then.

Looks like for now you’ve missed the worst of the snow… I’m sure you’ll get your fair share before winter ends! Hope the foot continues to improve- PF can take a while. And I hope your sleep improves- it’s hard to feel great when you’re not sleeping well.

Well last night it was snoring (not mine). I seriously considered going out to sleep on the couch but it’s unfortunately problematic with Bandit. Have to leave the door open because usually he’ll follow me eventually, then sometimes he doesn’t . . . I’ve always struggled with sleep in winter. Probably lack of sunshine.

Whoa, those icy patches would have kept me inside for sure. Well done going out there to enjoy the less icy areas and I’m glad your foot allows you to do some running.

The roads are much clearer than our driveway, but still some ice. We don’t get a lot of sun.

No thank you on that ice! My ankle is throbbing just thinking about it!
I’m laughing at transition leggings vs winter leggings. I didn’t even really think about having different kinds for the seasons!

Oh yes indeed. But then there’s people who run in shorts when I’d be in leggings. Everyone has different tolerances!

Definitely also team rest over pushing it. Poor little leftover Olaf!

Well sometimes I do push when I shouldn’t. That happened this week. Luckily nothing really dire.

That is icy! It was below (our) zero here today but fortunately there’s no ice on the ground apart from frozen dog wees, which are easy to see and avoid! Well done for taking care of yourself.

Main roads are fine, but I live on a dead end & they do a very poor job on the circle. It wasn’t much snow but it’s also been very cold lately — warmer weather *might* be coming in a week. I’m sorry it’s cold there too!
