Running this week went much better than it has for a while. Our weather keeps going back and forth between unseasonably hot and unseasonably cool, but so far it’s all good.

Running Update

Tuesday: intention — recovery run listening to body
I felt as though as I was moving slowly (well, of course I actually was) but when I was done and looked at my stats, it was negative splits. Weird. It was much warmer today, although cloudy, which helped.

Friday: intention — enjoy being outside on a beautiful day, but remind my feet they can run fast
Finally! The stars aligned: great running weather and a run that felt pretty darn good. First two miles very consistent, last fast due to strides. V02max still being stubborn, I thought it would go up with this run.
I had wanted to run Thursday, so Saturday could be an option for my long run, but it was disgustingly hot and humid by the time the rain cleared out. No thanks.

Sunday: intention — enjoy the day, get friendly with hills again
Another gorgeous day to run, and another decent run. I went out hours later than I have been recently, which was nice (when I got up it was in the 40s!). I’m planning to sign up for the virtual 4th of July race, and make it a downhill race again — so it’s time to actually start running down steep hills again!

Favorites of the week
I was surprised when Mr. Judy wasn’t resistant to a vinyl decal for the wall in my room. He hates putting almost anything on the walls. You’re supposed to apply them not long after they arrive. Oops, a month later . . . it was a challenge but Mr. Judy got it done and I love it!

What is brightening your spirits right now?

Do you just get out there & run good weather or bad, or are you waiting for nicer weather?
Coming up on Tuesday: The Tuesday Linkup gals (check it out here) are asking us what our training philosophy is. On Friday I’ll be sharing where you can get face masks specifically designed for running — if you wear them for running (I don’t). If you have one you love, feel free to share it in the comments! Don’t forget that Skirt Sports is selling off its inventory, so check out the sale here — inventory & prices are decreasing!
We have had weird weather here and it was SO MUGGY this morning, ugh. I have run all my runs this week with other people (just one each time) and so my VOMax has gone down but I’m OK with that given that I have RUN WITH OTHER PEOPLE! So good to do.

I’m not really terribly hung up on vo2max, just perplexed. Glad you can run with others! I can but am not for personal reasons. I definitely miss running with someone.

Our weather has been the exact same (just on different days)…unseasonably cool and/or hot. Of course, the heat is totally fine with me, but the cold mid-50’s (most of these mornings) is a tad too cool for my liking. At least it hasn’t been snowing LOL

For me mid 50s is really perfect running weather. We haven’t had hot temps for a sustained period of time yet so that hasn’t bothered much, especially as I’m not running as much & can move around days more easily.

I love your neighbourhood photos! Such a pretty area to run!
That Friday run sounds great – and I like that you added your intentions to the runs ❤️
You are going to sign up for the 4 July race!! Great! 😊👍🏻 You won’t regret it.

Friday & today were nice runs. The nice weather helped a lot!

Happy to hear that running went better for you this week. We had similar weather here and I was glad that we had super gorgeous weather for the weekend!

Actually, yesterday was a little too cool! Too cool to do Yoga outside, although we did eat outside. But it was a nice break in between the heat. 🙂

We have been having some low-humidity days here too. It is good running weather!
Setting an intention for your runs is so cool! And such a yoga-ish thing to do. I should do the same. Sometimes I do negative splits without meaning to also. I think my first mile is usually pretty slow until I get warmed up.
I have been trying to watch my VO2 max too, although I am not really sure what it indicates. I get a notification every time it goes up, but I don’t think the number can be correct. It’s very high for a woman my age and I am certainly not “off the charts”.
Love your decal! 🙂

I’ve actually worked on using intentions for runs before I became a Yoga teacher, too. It’s been an on & off thing for a few years. I just like to mix the goals up so that seemed like a good idea.
I know Garmn’s VO2max isn’t super accurate, but it’s just another data point to fitness.

I run when I can fit it in. Only rain stops me.
Saturday’s weather was perfect. Around 50 at 7 am. Enjoying the almost normal social running again.

Today’s weather was just as nice as yesterday’s. Maybe nicer, it was just a little warmer. Yesterday was actually kind of chilly all day!

I don’t remember it being chilly. I ran in a skirt and tank and did yard work outside.

Maybe it was warmer where you live. Here it barely got over 60. It was too cold to do Yoga outside (although yesterday I was able to, it was quite a bit warmer).
It’ll be hot enough soon enough.

Running comfortable temps and yoga temps are way different. It was warm running. But cool when the sun went in later after running.

Glad you had some nice runs this week!
Haha, my husband is anti- putting stuff on walls too…he has to think about it a long time before he’ll do it!

I was really shocked when he was ok with my project — so happy he was also able to help me out with it.
Of course, my room also has quite a few bags of stuff to be donated that weren’t in that photo, it’s kind of comical that it’s so nice & calm on the one side, and still cluttered on the other.

Glad you had some better runs this week. I did too. The lower humidity days make a huge difference for me too. Love the daily intentions you set! I am a big fan of wall decals as well. Thanks for linking up.

I’ve always admired your wall decals! I probably should have put mine higher, but most Yin practices are close to the ground, I figured (I’ll be filming in there when it’s colder — like this week, LOL!).
Low humidity is a gift in summer. 🙂

We’ve had some very hot humid days that made running a sufferfest but I’m happy to remind myself that I don’t really even HAVE to run on those days since I’ve got no races coming up. We’ve also had some super gorgeous weather that’s made running pure joy. Love the wall decal! Glad Mr. J was willing to install it for you.

I’m very glad he was able to wrangle the decal onto the wall. 🙂 Our weather has been much the same.

Our weather was pretty great this week except maybe Wednesday. Bandit is so cute! I don’t wear a mask running, but I did get one from InkNBurn.

Thursday up here last week was just horrible. The rain didn’t cool anything off, it just seemed to make it more humid! But mostly it was great running weather last week.

I love all the rainbows in your neighborhood! I haven’t seen a lot of that, but what I have seen is a lot of kids’ artwork on display. I don’t mask when I run either. The recommendations are that being outdoors really keeps the risk of transmission low.

I don’t mask when I walk, either. We’re usually far enough away from other people.
I did have one guy run up right beside me on one run, though. I didn’t hear him coming, or I would have stepped aside. Rude!

I ran in my Lotta Breeze skirt today, forgot how much I love those. I should check to see if they have any left.
I love my new Zensah mask but honestly the most comfortable thing I’ve found to run in is the normal standard mask.
Love that decal

I’m in between sizes in that skirt. So I don’t run in it as much.
Luckily I don’t plan to be running in a mask, but I do like copper infused things so I ordered that & a neck gaiter. Too bad it probably won’t come before Friday (although then I could get a second post out of it!).

Our weather has gone back and forth too but its nice to have those cooler days mixed in! That decal looks great on your wall! I haven’t been wearing a mask when I run since I dont really see anyone while I’m out there.

It is really nice to have the cooler days! I wouldn’t be happy if that’s all we had, but the break from the heat is nice.

It was warmer on Monday and Tuesday and then stormy weather. Now it is much cooler in the morning but gets warmer during the day and then cool again in the evening. So crazy!
I don’t run in a mask. I don’t see a lot of people when I am running.
I don’t see a lot of rainbows by my house. I guess I need to look for a different route.

There was an initiative for rainbows in our area code, that’s why there’s so many. But sometimes you really have to keep your eyes peeled for them!

I see. I like that initiative!

Glad your running felt good. Our weather here was all over the place too, but thankfully we had more cooler days than humid.
I’ve seen one or two runners wearing masks. I haven’t yet – my goal has just been to get out extra early which allows me to avoid people.

Even though I’m always up early, I still have trouble getting out there early! I need to eat something, I need to foam roll, do a quick warmup . . . I never seem to get out there as early as I want to.
I do see people, but it’s not crowded in my neighborhood so it’s not really a big deal either.

I love your intention setting during running! How cool! If I waited for good weather I’d never run here; Florida doesn’t like to play nice where that’s concerned haha. The only time I skip a run for weather is if its really storming out- lightning is no joke and I don’t have a death wish! Other than that I suck it up.

We could say the same of Winter up here.
I once got caught in a thunderstorm on a run in Miami — it was very frightening!

Our weather has been pretty wonderful here! I really run based on my schedule, and my time – but not weather. I don’t wait until the afternoon when it will be warmer, or evening when it’s cooler. I’m usually not in the mood to run then!
I have not seen anyone wearing masks to run in here. Barely anyone wearing them any place other than stores now.

I used to run early in the mornings, and sometimes later in the afternoon. With my husband working from home, I’m a little freer (don’t have to worry about the dogs so much).

hooray for some good runs and better weather. sure makes a difference! I had a run last week too I think where it was the same exact average tempo as the day before but felt still a bit sluggish but still WAY better and was negative splits. So odd.
Our weather is typical Dutch – cool and gray one day, warm and humid the next and then throw in a thunderstorm occasionally 😀

The Netherlands sounds a lot like upstate NY! Although I can’t complain, not yet, we haven’t had too much humidity yet. This week is heating up, but so far not too humid, so not too bad.

I love your vinyl decal – it’s perfect for your yoga spot. LOL on Lola curling up in a pot. It’s adorable, but she doesn’t look very comfortable.

Oh, I have one of her looking even more uncomfortable this week. It’s not a pot, though, it actually is a pet bed. Bandit’s got a good 5 pounds on her, but he gets in there too (during the winter it’s heated).
