I know a lot of people suffered with Mother Nature’s actions last week, and if you were caught in the Derecho or in the wildfires, know you are still in my thoughts.
We were treated to a dose of cool, almost Fall like days until the weekend. It was a much needed break from the heat and humidity!
Joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner, and enjoying that break in the weather immensely!

Running Update

Monday intention: enjoy the weather!
After a mostly sleepless night (no idea why), it was a pleasure to get out later and still be cool. My only intention was to take it easy and enjoy the cooler weather. Thank you, Weather Gods! Best part: not a single bug!
Took a break about 2/3 of the way through my long run to explore
Thursday intention: enjoy the weather — again!
It was the nicest morning in 2 months. No joke. I don’t usually do a long run on a Thursday, but I can — and I didn’t want to pass that opportunity up! I changed up my route — because, boredom — and explored a little bit. And I thoroughly enjoyed the weather! And again: no bugs. Except where I explored, briefly.
Saturday intention: getting stronger via speed work a la Bootcamp
I did a Peloton Bootcamp (intermediate) that was roughly 20 min running (broken into 3 intervals) and 20 minutes strength training. I also discovered when I did a walk CD that walk/run intervals are under Walking. Seriously, WTF, Peloton?
There are also running classes that use intervals, and you could certainly turn those into walk/run intervals. Anyway, good to know going forward. Only took me about 4 months to figure that out, completely by accident.

Sunday intention: get body used torunning downhill again
I got out early and although warm, it was a short run and still relatively shady so it felt ok — mostly, but not completely, bug free. With my Dempsey Challenge coming up next month (you can read about it and donate here), I’m hitting some downhills again, so it’s was time to ease into it today.
Favorites of the week
It was a pretty quiet week. I did sort of get in four runs (if you include the short bits of running in the Peloton bootcamp). I got in three ST sessions. Some Pilates, some Yoga, not too shabby.
I met up with a friend I hadn’t seen in a while for a good long talk. She did the virtual XC series “with” me and I gave her her mug.

Did you get pummeled by weather in the last couple of weeks?
Still finding new places to explore locally?
What was the highlight of your week?
ICYMI: Turns out a stuck shift key on our keyboard caused our computer to not boot. Seriously? Well, at least it was an easy fix in the end. This week I do have the video to help you work on your balance up. Watch it here.
Coming up on Tuesday: 3 things you should think about changing as you age. On Friday it’s time to join Marcia’s every popular runfessional here. What do you need to get off your chest in August?
