Even though I felt even better most of this week, there were a few days I didn’t. Very annoying. Even more annoying? I managed to tweak something in my dominant arm shoulder, not once, but twice! After a lot of SMR (self myofascial release), both times, the pain quickly went away — although it took some working on!
I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner, and still not running. Yoga + walking to keep the body moving.

Running Update
Still not running

Thanks for giving me a reason to be creative, Liz!
Favorites of the week
I had fun drawing Liz’s cats for my Happy Birthday sign for her. Thanks, Cari @ Travelingwithcari for the heads up and glad you had a good birthday, Liz!
I made chicken soup yesterday from the bones of a chicken we cooked. Nothing quite like home made chicken soup on a very cold day!

We also finally used a gift certificate our SIL had given us for hannukah. Above is our haul.
ICYMI, I did a soft launch on my Yoga Website here. Yes, a second blog. Some freebies. Still a work in progress, in fact hoping today to set up a Yin Yoga FAQ page to link up to all the short videos I’ve been created on that. Not being as active gave me the time I needed to work on that, and it was a lot of work — even though I used to design Websites as a living! That was a long, long time ago though. They were much simpler back then.
Have you ever tried to run two blogs simultaneously?
How would you fill your time if you weren’t able to run?
What would you love to do, career wise, other than your current job?
ICYMI: Before the inauguration I felt called to do a Facebook Live, leading a meditation for unity. I’ll help you move your body a little first so you can relax. guide you through a healing meditation, and we’ll spend a little time in gratitude. You’ll find the video here.
Coming up on Tuesday: I’m sharing six favorites from 2020. Yes, 2020 was challenging in so many ways, but there were good things that came out of it, too. Always better to focus on the positive. Friday it’s time to get a few things off my chest at the runfessional here — join us!.
I find running one blog to be a full time job these days so no, I can not imagine running 2 of them! Good luck w your new one and keep us posted. Hope you are starting to feel better this week. When I cannot run, I bike more 🙂

Yeah, that’s part of why I resisted doing this for so long!

Getting up a new blog is definitely alot of work! I think if I didn’t work at my regular job I would want to put more time into blogging and coaching. I’d probably run more too:)

Well, you’d probably be spending more time chasing Grayson around, too!

Those would be great careers, Paila! Health coach is definitely something I’ve thought about. Someday maybe when I have the $$.

So sorry that you tweaked your shoulder but glad that it’s feeling better. It’s crazy how just moving the wrong way can tweak a muscle.
Homemade chicken soup sounds amazing, especially with the freezing cold weather that we’re currently experiencing here!
Congrats on launching a new blog!

And today I made vegetarian chili. Now I have lots of leftovers. 😊 Even though Mr. Judy was very resistant to the chili, he admitted it “wasn’t bad”.
Thanks, Kim!

A different career? I’m pretty happy with being a pediatric nurse practitioner–I don’t know that I could do anything more fulfilling or enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a job and isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but I have to say that it is the right job for me.

That’s wonderful that you love your job, Wendy. So few people do!

Glad you are feeling better.
I have done several blogs at the same times. Designed websites Part of my last two jobs.
Depends why I could not run. Injury-wise I would quilt sew and knit. Otherwise I would play tennis walk or hike.
Not sure about a career. Too old to think about that now. I’m glad to have a job. Especially now when so many are unemployed.

Sometimes doing stuff that works the brain is more tiring than exercising, I swear! But good for us.

Different kind of exercise. Prefer to be outdoors.

Glad you’re feeling mostly better but I’m sorry to hear about the shoulder tweak. All the best with the new blog. I can barely manage the one I have. I wish I had someone to manage the tech side of it. I’m quite happy with all the coaching I do. I learned a long time ago that I do not thrive in a corporate environment.

I’ve never worked a corporate job. One year working for the government right out of college. Pretty sure I was the token female. Then 7 years working in printing. Then my own business & now *trying* to teach yoga — I was off to a good start but the pandemic has made it hard for me.

If I couldn’t run I would probably read more (in between bouts of sobbing.) My TBR list is insane. Sounds like you’re making excellent use of your time- I can barely run one blog, let alone two!

Well, I don’t have a job. So the new site is to increase my visibility & hopefully reach new yoga students!

My blog feels like my dream job LOL I’m not a fitness coach, but I love writing and my art geek tendencies get a little bit of a fix with the pictures. That said, I cannot imagine managing TWO blogs, so go you! If I couldn’t run, I’d find another sport…maybe cycling? 😉

Well, I don’t plan to be doing as many posts on the yoga site!

If I could not run then I would read more and use my Peloton. I cannot imagine managing two blogs since one is enough work. 🙂

As I said to Kim I don’t plan to write as many posts on my yoga site! And some will definitely be crossovers but haven’t yet decided how I’d handle that b
I don’t understand people who are bored — even without an actual job, LOL!

I would totally read more if I wasn’t running. Glad you’re up for some things, even if not yet full strength. I loved the sign you made for Liz. So creative.
My job has shifted some what this year and I miss some of the normal times things, but I still love what I do. I can barely keep up with one.

I love that you were able to stay employed this year!
I don’t know how people with jobs blog, although I have done it in the past.

If I couldn’t run I would find another activity I could do so that would likely be a mix of more yoga, more long walks and bike rides if it was warm outside.
I would love to be a full-time writer. This has been a dream of mine for years and probably a big reason why I started my blog.

I think a lot of bloggers are wannabe writers! Not me. I know where my talents lie & while I can write, enjoy writing — it’s not really my strong suit!

Long ago I had two blogs. One that was about being an expat in the Netherlands and lowfatpie which turned into run, laugh, eat pie. It was tough. I decided I didn’t need the “other” blog. Even back then I’d been here for like 15 years so I wasn’t sharing stuff that would be helpful for newbies or people considering moving here. I mean I could offer perspective but also no one was really reading it LOL. Sure I could do it for myself but then I can also kind of do that in one blog too.
If I can’t run, I walk. Even when I had the hernia one of my PT’s said “I know it hurts but if you don’t move it will not heal”. So I just think no matter what, I can walk. Or bike. I love to bike too.
What would I love to do if I weren’t working in an office job… that’s tough. 25 years ago I would have said I would have wanted to work for a band and tour the world working behind the scenes on gigs, etc. 20 years ago I wanted to become a massage therapist; I finally did my education for sports massage and found out my body can’t take too much of that physical work and energy. It’s quite draining. Now I don’t know. Maybe be a local tour guide, do walking or biking tours, or arrange meetups of internationals in the area or tourists to come and do something sporty in town while they are here. That’s one of the reasons I got involved with parkrun.

Luckily it doesn’t hurt to walk for me. 😊
I think being a massage therapist is a very difficult job!
A local tour guide is great. What about a food tour guide? We love taking food tours when we travel! I would not be good at that at all, I’m much too much an introvert & having to be on would be really draining for me. But like I said, we love doing that!
Too bad I didn’t know you the one time I was in the Netherlands; it was a long time ago & literally a long weekend. But it was a business trip for my husband so I wandered around a lot on my own! Then again it was to Delft & I suspect not so near you.

Good for you on starting your yoga blog. I can barely keep one going so I wouldn’t attempt starting another one.
I always said that if I wasn’t in the fitness business I’d love to own a lawn service or be a meteorologist. I’m sure a week of nonstop mowing lawns might make me change my mind on that career change, but I do love getting my lawn mower out on occasion and going to town. LOL

Sorry about your shoulder tweak…hopefully it passes quickly!

Is professional adventurer a thing? 🙂 I do enjoy the artistic things such as writing and photography, but also creating things. I think programming is a great career and outlet for me because when I make physical crafts I struggle with what to do with them. I mean, you can only have so many paintings or sculptures, etc (not that I paint or sculpt, but you get the idea!). With programming the object is just in the computer, so problem solved! Congrats on the new blog! You might just turn me into a yoga fan. Your yoga blog is very nice looking and I’m going to check out all of the videos. I did not know what Yin Yoga was! thanks for the info.

I used to knit, crochet, paint — you give a lot of stuff away!

I loved the picture you drew of my cats, thank you again! I was so moved by all the lovely things dear Cari made happen for my birthday!
As to your questions:
Have you ever tried to run two blogs simultaneously? Yes, I have a book blog and a professional blog. I don’t keep the latter up much but then that’s because I only work weekdays now and don’t have time to write the posts! But then I have enough work through repeat business and recommendations, so it’s not so important for driving people to me!
How would you fill your time if you weren’t able to run? I’d walk if I wasn’t injured, and I’d definitely read.
What would you love to do, career wise, other than your current job? I love my job and feel very lucky. If I was fitter and faster I’d love to be a running or fitness coach, but I know that won’t ever happen. Also it might be a bit peoply for me!

It’s wonderful to have a job you wouldn’t change. I’ve had a few — until I no longer wanted to do them. LOL!
