You may notice there was a lot of Yoga video filming going on this week. Even very early in the morning. That’s because for the first time in almost 2 years, Mr. Judy went to see his mom and sister (who live outside of Seattle). We’ll get to the stuff that made me happy this week in the Favorites section!

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner, and enjoying the some extra time to get things done — at least for part of the week.

Running Update

Tuesday Intention: easy
Gotta say I wasn’t feeling that great this morning, but even before I started to run things felt easy and this run just flowed. Not fast, but faster than I’d been dragging myself around lately. Go figure. Another bell curve run with the last mile the fastest.

Wednesday Intention: recover
This run was absolutely a surprise — again! Was it the almost 2 mile walk with a friend beforehand? Was it the Yin Yoga video I’d filmed early in the morning? Of course I’m not trying to run fast — and this didn’t feel easy like the day before, although not truly hard — but this was the fastest 1 mile I’ve run in a month. Now I’ll take a feels-easy-faster long-er run this weekend, thank you very much. Of course I’m gonna take whatever actually happens!

Sunday Intention: go long-er for 80 minutes
This run did not have that flow state, sadly, but it wasn’t bad either. There was weird stuff up in those trees at the end of the run. Things that make you go hmmm.

Favorites of the week
A happy occasion to visit mom: my SIL, nephew and his new bride (whom we hadn’t yet met) were visiting so we went down to meet & greet. Hadn’t seen any of them IRL in a long time.
Got together with a friend for a very chilly walk — it almost didn’t happen. I had contacted two different friends on getting together for a walk this week, but it seemed like nobody’s schedule was meshing with mine. Finally made it happen; luckily this friend doesn’t mind walking with Bandit.
Finally I am three for three on jury duty — that is not being selected. I actually did request to be excused while Mr. Judy was away. I’ve put in another request for the next doctor appointment I need to take my mom to. Maybe I’ve aged out, which would be a-ok by me!
I have a bonus inspirational saying from my tea this morning (see the others in this post here): Celebrate your successes and failures; both required great courage. Perfect for runners!

ICYMI: I am sharing exactly how I stretch in bed & get energized in the morning this week. It’s a really short practice. Bandit totally got into the act, which he actually doesn’t do in the morning! I have a couple of videos dropping on Thanksgiving Day, too.

Coming up on Tuesday & Friday: Tuesday should you dress differently for short runs — like recovery run short? Friday it’s already time to runfess and come clean for November!
Congrats on not having jury duty and peace and quiet while Lloyd is away.
And you must be doing something right if you pace is improving.

I’m not doing anything special at all occasionally some runs are just better than others. That was not the case today.

I was happy that it was great running weather today. Just lucky I guess.

Nice that you got so much filming done.
How odd to have found that lock on the tree – wonder what that’s about!
Glad that you got to have a family meet & greet under happier conditions.

The lock was super odd. I didn’t notice it going out but it caught my eye on the way back.

That tree lock is weird! We went for a walk today (my first since I got this awful cold) and spotted a front garden with a snowman up in the window clearly from last year and two Halloween skulls in a flowerpot. Everything eventually comes around again, right?!

I’m glad you felt good enough to walk today! There was one house that had a super creepy inflatable clown in their backyard for years. I don’t even mind clowns but it was weird. It did eventually disappear.

I’ll be ‘fessing about a recent filming #NearFail on Friday, so I have to give you big kudos for getting so much of that done. I love that message about celebrating BOTH successes and failures because there are lessons to be learned from both.

I’ve been working on video almost 2 years now. It was the bane of my existence for a long time. I’ve learned a lot but have more to learn!
On one of those fillings I got an important call about 5 minutes before I finished. The call was very upsetting. But I did go back & finish it up!

I didn’t know about aging out of jury duty. I don’t think we’re old enough for that yet, are we?
Sounds like you had some nice runs! You deserved it.

I just meant that maybe they don’t want someone my age on a jury. Of course it depends on the case. Technically you can serve at any age — most states allow you to not serve after age 70. Obviously I’m not there yet. 1 more week to go.

Those are some interesting finds in the trees! Admittedly, I probably never look up! Maybe I should who knows what’s up there! Have a happy Thanksgiving

I was kind of surprised I caught the things way up there. 8 think 8 saw it as I was running towards the tree & just wondered what it was.

Yes, definitely black walnuts. We have them all over the trails here. I try not to roll an ankle on them. Happy Thanksgiving!

We had black walnut trees lining the driveway growing up. I guess I just never noticed them in the tree. Those things are huge!

Ooh! I love that quote. I also love the picture with the yellow leaves on the trees. And yes- we have some houses already decorated for Christmas in our neighborhood! Sound like you had a good week- I hope next week and Thanksgiving are nice times for you!

It’s great that your husband got to see his mom and sister this week.
Those look like black walnuts to me. The farm is named Walnut Grove Farm and we have lots of black walnut trees there.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I guess I just never noticed the black walnuts on the trees! We had quite a few at the house where I grew up, too.

I’m glad others could identify the black walnuts, because I couldn’t. I’ve seen a few houses decorated for Christmas already. Seems like they put their decorations up right after Halloween. It’s all I can do to get mine up before Christmas!

It did actually come to me after the fact that that’s what it might be (the walnuts). Because we had them at the house I grew up in, too.

The trees in this period are amazing and full of nice surprises but very soon they will be bare.
Here houses are not yet decorated for Christmas, only few shops.
Bandit is a very good friend!

Bandit really wanted his walk . . .
Our leaves are almost gone but there are still some red & yellow trees/bushes that look amazing when the light hits them just right.

Hooray for not having jury duty! I got a letter to do it this summer but asked to postpone it by a few months. I’m hoping that eventually they will just stop asking me to do it, lol. Glad you were able to enjoy more quiet than usual this week.

Trust me, they never stop asking. I thought about postponing, but seriously I think in the future would be even worse. I might actually get through it without having to go in at all! Fingers crossed.

Sounds like a lovely and productive week! I don’t think you can age out of jury duty, can you? I would love to actually serve, I only ever got dismissed during the questioning on a trial. Maybe some day!

Every state actually has an age where generally you can ask to be excused. I am too young for that, but I haven’t been selected (so far) & I’m extremely grateful for that even though they are short trials. I have been called regularly for 30 years & am usually selected for the jury. Can you tell I don’t like jury duty? 😉
