It’s Friday as I sit down to write this post. Usually I try to write a bit as the week goes along, but it was a busy week. As usual it’s hard to remember what I did yesterday, let alone a few days ago!

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner, and maintaining with a little pushing.

Running Update

Tuesday Intention: go long
Yes! Spring has really sprung! This run started well but the last couple of miles were a slog. Due to the nature of the bike path (mostly incline in the middle) no positive splits today.

Thursay Intention: a little speed
Another beautiful day. Basically the plan became run easy except on the downhills, then do some pickups. I have a habit of sometimes making up a plan on the run, so to speak.
Saturday Intention: strength/speed in the form of hills
I would have opted outside — actually, I did, to walk Bandit early because the sudden heat is really hard on him. Mr. Judy had an all day thing going on. I did some work in the morning, finally getting on the mill at almost noon (by which point it was in the low 80s and humid).
I chose a Peloton HIIT + Hills run — not gonna lie, it wasn’t easy, but it was doable. I had good paces for the HIIT sections — of course they only last between 45 – 30 seconds, but it was a strong run, even if ultimately slow due to the “hills”.

Favorites of the week
Got together with a couple of different friends I haven’t seen in a while, hanging in the backyard — on different days, one on one, that is.
The other favorite was most definitely the weather: skirt weather! Grilling & eating on the deck weather! Gathering with friends in the backyard weather! We’ve waited a long time for this weather, can you tell?
ICYMI: Did you know it’s a full moon (well, actually tonight it’s a Lunar Eclipse, as you may have heard by now). This Yin Yoga practice works physically on your low back — and hips. Join me here. I share some things you might try around the new moon here and also share variations of reclined butterfly here.
Coming up on Tuesday & Friday: Tuesday I’m asking if you have a plan B? On Friday I’m sharing some tips that might help prevent holey socks.
That is a great photo of that church. It could be a postcard!
I avoid Peloton “hills” classes on the tread, but choose them on the bike. I should try one on the tread and adjust as I need to.

Not so sure on the postcard, but it was a glorious day.
I know that you said the hills class can aggravate your ankle. Thankfully mine has been behaving itself lately. The incline did go up to 8% though . . .

Believe it or not, Florida temps were the same. But the humidity here is so high. Running is tough. Still loving the sun and the beach. Will miss it.

I do believe it, I lived in the South a long time & it happens. Sometimes it’s colder there than here, too.
It only got humid this weekend.

It is definitely nice to get outside more. I am so much happier when I do. Also nice to get together with old friends. Have a great week!

I can barely express how nice it’s been to be able to relax outside!

Oh, does it ever feel great to be outside! Event though I get outside daily, I absolutely love seeing all the flowers, hearing the birds, and smelling the blossoming trees. Can’t say that happens year-round in Iowa.

The birds have been amazing lately. Most of our bulbs (around the neighborhood, not just mine) are now dying — but they sure brightened my day when they were blooming!

Today I walked on one of the IAT segments near our lake house and it was like stepping into a magical world, I swear. I loved it. Birds singing, everything green…I took so many photos. It really made me happy.

I’m glad you were able to get back out there & hike. Sounds like despite the struggle during your half, you’ve had a great weekend!

Ah, you must be loving all this outside time! And yes- I can always remember my runs but sometimes have trouble remembering my other workouts. Luckily Peloton remembers for me. It’s nice that you got a six mile run in! It feels good to go long-er once a week, right? Hope your nice weather continues!

Our weather is still summer like but it’s going to go back & forth between that & spring for a while. May & June can be really cool here though, so I’m definitely enjoying it!

Love that church pic and hooray for time outside. We got to sit and read outside at the weekend, which was lovely.

It feels great to be out there more, doesn’t it? The bugs haven’t really started yet the bees have though . . .

We ate dinner outside last night and it was nice. The humidity is starting to ramp up, as are the temps so this brief spell of nice weather we had isn’t going to last long, unfortunately.

Obviously we don’t get the humidity like you do. It is humid here, but still less than further south. Our weather is still going back & forth for a while but seriously being outside more just feels amazing!

Despite the suddenly ridiculous heat, isn’t it great to see the sun out finally? We’ve been so gloomy up to this point. I runfess I skip the hill cues when Peloton instructors give them. Haha! That full moon was something!

It’s cooled down here but there’s supposed to be a high of 93 on Saturday! Can’t make this stuff up.
I have been known to skip hills or take a lesser incline, but sometimes I’m “up” for it so to speak.

What an awesome photo of the church – it’s beautiful!
I also appreciate the better weather last week – although today we’re due for some pretty bad thunderstorms so I guess the nice weather was short lived lol.

We had thunderstorms a couple of nights this week, which ushered in cooler weather. But expecting more hot weather this weekend!

That church looks almost exactly like the one I went to as a child and where Bill and I got married. 🙂
Looks like we both had some squirrel entertainment last week!

Aww, glad the church brought back happy memories for you. I run by there often — except in winter when there’s nowhere safe to run alongside the road. It was just a particularly nice day!

Lovely photo of the church. It’s been so nice to relax outside, hasn’t it? While I wish the temps hadn’t warmed up so quickly, the time in the backyard and deck has been restorative.

Yes, taking even just a few minutes break outside is definitely lovely.
