The plan was to try to squeeze in three runs in this week, but after two runs my body clearly wasn’t really digging the lack of rest so I let that go. I’ve worked really hard to try to relax more this December, even though that got completely hijacked by last week. I’d rather rest now and not got sick in January (or sooner).

I’m joining Kim @ Kimrunsonthefly and Deborah @ Confessionsofamotherrunner just slogging along. A very Happy Holidays to all who celebrate!

Running Update

Thursday intention: take it easy
I was definitely surprised by how slowly I was running during this run. Sometimes ten days off running will do that to you. I wanted to get out before the storm — so mission accomplished.

Friday intention: recover
I woke up definitely not feeling like a run, even a recovery run. There was a break in the rain, and I told myself it was just a slow mile. Even with run/walk intervals it was faster (although certainly not fast) than the previous day. I felt better afterward — but not the next morning. Garmin is definitely raising a red flag.

Favorites of the week
Not really much going on in my neck of the woods right now. A busy start to the week coming home, then getting some healthy food into the house (even if I really haven’t wanted to cook), and a chiropractor appointment — while also trying to get a few runs in.
The fact that our storm was not shovel-able was a definite favorite — not sure how we managed mostly rain but I’m grateful for that.

ICYMI: Give me 30 minutes, and I’ll help you have a calm morning here (psst, great for Christmas — or any day), I’ve also got a longer Vlog with tips on easing depression and anxiety here.
Coming up on Friday: Runfessions! Running may have been sparse but I’ve still got things to runfess (like how I haven’t even thought about wrapping up 2022 yet!).
While I do enjoy a good dump of snow, I think I’d be grateful for that rain too. The brutal cold here is something else. Cute pic of Bandit!

I don’t enjoy a dump of snow & so I am so very grateful that I do not live anywhere near Buffalo. 😊

We didn’t get much snow, but wow is it cold! It’s all going to melt this week. Glad you got some rest this week!

This Winter has been odd but it seems we always say that these years.

I too was glad that it was rain not snow.
Didn’t appreciate the arctic temps but in my world it’s never too cold to run outside.
Hopefully it will warm this week and ice melts.

Still wait on the warmth. But at least the wind has died down!

Snow is pretty on the first day if you don’t have to go anywhere — after that it’s overrated unless you are skiing. 😉
I’ve been running a few days in a row because I’m not interested in the indoor bike right now. I’m keeping it short, so hopefully it won’t cause any more damage.
Happy Sunday!

Totally agree on the snow. At least any snow blowing/shoveling will hopefully be a team effort going forward.

All that rain! I’m glad we didn’t get a ton of snow, but we did get enough to make the streets questionable. I’ve continued walking outdoors (daily) because it’s safer to walk (as opposed to running) if you’re unsure of what lies beneath the snow, especially in the extreme cold.

Oh yes walking is definitely safer! But it’s still quite cold here. Less windy though!

I’m definitely impressed by that snowman! Looks like they used up all the snow in their yard.
Sounds like you’re getting some much-needed rest this weekend. Glad you’re not out there shoveling! Enjoy the last night of Hanukkah if you’re celebrating.

Nah, the rain cleared out most of the snow. My husband got to do all the snow shoveling/snow blowing in that previous storm. I just had to get the snow off his car.

Awww, it looks like Bandit is giving you a welcome home hug. I spy your wedding picture. How pretty!

IDK, somehow hanging the wedding photo has never been a priority so there it sits.

I hope you feel better after some rest. That is a cool snowman! And what a lovely affectionate dog.
I’m glad you only got rain during the storm. Rain can be disruptive of course, but not even close to what problems snow in masses can cause.

Thank you. Unfortunately still resting.

Glad you were spared the brunt of the storm this time. Sometimes our body just needs more rest and I think it is great that you are good at listening to yours.

I push through a lot. But I usually know when it’s really not a good idea to keep pushing.

So smart to listen to your body and not force the runs if your body wasn’t feeling it.
So glad that you didn’t experience a crazy storm this weekend. We were spared too – no snow at all but just super cold temps.

We were cold, too, and the end of the rainstorm brought a little frozen precip but not so much to make the roads bad. Not that I was going anywhere anyway!

We got quite a bit of rain here too but it was frigid when the cold front moved through! It literally took my breath away when I let my dog out first thing in the morning!

Oh definitely same here. Bandit didn’t get a walk for days — finally got one today. Silly dog thought he wanted to go for a walk though.

Bandit! I’m sure he was happy, indeed.
We had a nice holiday, and then headed to Tampa for a little family vacation. I’m currently snuggling with the pugs. They had fun while we were gone, but are super cuddly now that we are home.

Enjoy those snuggles! At least one half of Bandit’s pack was home each time. 🙂

I had about 2 weeks off running before my New Year’s Day run and I really felt it! But I don’t regret the break as I really felt my body needed it.
