Mostly Asheville edition: Tea/coffee Date June 2023

Ultimate-Coffee-Date-1-300x300

I’m joining  Coco and Deborah and sharing a laugh at my expense, as well as a few things we liked and didn’t like about Asheville. Plus I runfess that I wrote this post a couple of weeks ago, and then completely forgot about it. It’s been a week — I’ll explain in the Weekly Rundown Sunday (although I might be joining that late, too).

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d start you off with a chuckle. On day not too long ago I was working on the computer and I was having trouble reading. I had my contacts in. What the heck? I’ve read about the various things that can cause sudden loss of vision (none of them good).

I was relatively certain that I’d just put in the wrong contact in my right eye (there’s a significant difference between my left and right eyes). I’ve put the wrong contact in to the wrong eye many times, but this time somehow I’d managed to grab two of the left eye contacts — something that I’d never done before in almost 40 years of wearing contacts! Ok, problem solved.

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d tell you that we were pleasantly surprised by the affordable and plentiful parking garages. The first hour at the two we tried was free, and then it was only a $2 per hour fee.

Upper & middle falls of the triple falls in DuPont Forest

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d tell you I really loved DuPont Forest. There was no entrance fee, the trails were well marked, and the views were definitely worthwhile! Highly recommend.

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d you there are many interesting tours in downtown Asheville. Except every time we were finally ready to book, they were either sold out or only had one ticket left (maybe that had something to do with all the rain while we were there!). Of course my efforts centered around food and hiking. If you’re thinking of a taking tour, make sure to book at least a couple of days ahead of time.

Carnelian Heart (good for grounding)

If we were enjoying tea/coffee . . .
I’d tell you if you enjoy crafts and gemstones, like I do, Asheville is a target rich environment. I went with several things in mind that I wanted — the only thing I never found was a new small cutting board. Not because there weren’t any, simple because none of them spoke to me.

Do you love waterfalls?

Write a post in advance and completely forget about it?

  1. Well, you know I do love waterfalls…

I write my posts sometimes months in advance because I have so little time but I don’t forget about them but sometimes the content is no longer accurate or relevant.

I have put my contacts in the wrong eyes but it doesn’t matter because one is for near and the other far and both my eyes are the same. Lately unless I run, I’ve been liking my glasses better than contacts (it saves me $$$ since they are dailies).

    1. It’s always really clear (pun intended) when I put the wrong contact in — there is a lot of difference between my eyes. You’re lucky you don’t have that!

It was a stressful and tiring week and I just completely forgot that today was the day to actually post!

  2. We loved roaming around Asheville last year. So many cute art galleries and shops. We also had some great food expect that I cannot remember where now. We lucked out on the weather when we were there but you just never know!

  3. Glad you enjoyed Asheville. My sister and I have had it on our list for many years, but logistics from Chicago make it tough for a weekend.

I wear hard contacts but occasionally, I do mix them up! i figure it out pretty quickly.

  4. Judy, that is so funny. A couple weeks ago I was at work and was having trouble seeing- specifically i was having a lot of trouble seeing the clock on my ipad, which is a huge problem. If I don’t know what time it is, I don’t know when to end the massage. It was REALLY annoying, and it wasn’t until I got home that I figured out I had put a left contact in my left eye, and a left contact in my right eye. I’ve never done that before! What are the odds?
I’ve never been to Asheville but I want to go- it looks really beautiful

    1. 🤣 that is too funny! Usually I put the wrong one in & notice right away. I absolutely can “see” what a problem that could be for you! Asheville is definitely in a beautiful area & there’s so much more to see.

    1. I’m very near sighted, so I actually do read much better without anything in. But I wouldn’t easily be able to drive or see across the room.

The post completely slipped my mind. Bandit has a pretty horrible cough — yes, we’ve been to the vet & it’s not anything serious, except for the lack of sleep for everyone. 😦

  5. I’d love to hear more about your Asheville trip. My mom has always wanted to visit the Biltmore Estate so we were considering a trip there this summer. However, we wanted to find other attractions worth visiting as well. Did you visit the Biltmore?

    1. We didn’t visit the Biltmore, but Deborah @Confessionsofamotherrunnerdid & wrote about it, I believe. On my Facebook page I recapped what I did, around beginning of May. There is lots more to do besides the Biltmore!

  6. Asheville sounds really nice! I think I would really enjoy going there as well!

I often do the contact lens switch and it’s really (un)clear I’ve done so. What is the worst is when Ron accidentally puts his lenses in my case… after mine are already in there. come on buddy, you’re messing me up here!

I have a few posts I started and never went back to. Maybe I’ll check what they are and finish them!

    1. My husband wears glasses (which personally i don’t understand).

Oh, I have lots of posts I’ve started & not finished. This one I just hadn’t added the graphics to & the fact that the linkup was yesterday slipped my mind until I saw a post.

  7. I have never worn contacts. Thankfully, I’m not restricted on my glasses (for reading & up-close stuff). If there comes a day when I am restricted, though, I’ll probably resort to glasses instead of contacts. My eyes are crazy sensitive, and I think having a lens attached to my eyeball would drive me crazy. That waterfall pic is beautiful!

  8. I loved Asheville when I went and would love to go back to visit again someday! (I was also all about the hiking/food + the waterfalls are gorgeous there!

When I was more on top of things, I’d usually write posts and schedule them weeks to months in advance. I’ve been terrible about that lately, but working on getting back to it!

    1. We do have waterfalls where I live, as well, but they tend to be a longer drive (or not flowing, depending on the time of year. You leave in such a lovely area though!

I am behind on commenting, sorry, but I will get to your blog — probably not today though.
