They’re Baaack!: Runfessions September 2023

The mosquitoes, that is. I’d stopped burning incense, kept filming videos, and everything seemed fine. Until I got nailed again. I suppose it’s better than a couple of feet of snow!

I runfess . . .
I am so happy I’m not sporting mosquito bites every time I step outside anymore (obviously written right before I got bitten again). I might even try out my favorite trails again. Except now, no. The mosquitoes seem to be back again. Now we also have to beware of wasps. Always something!

The top of my right foot was sore again. This time I think it was the socks I was wearing (not even while running!) which were slightly compressive. In the past I’ve noticed compression socks made my achilles tendon ache. Why is it something that is good for you can also be bad for you?

This was my go to outfit for racing for years. Well, the top still fits anyway.

Recently the Skirtsports group has been having posts allowing ISO (in search of — took me a while to figure that out), and they got around to the mediums, I put in some requests. I got a M Cool It Skirt (since I’ve outgrown the S) and a couple of Lotta Breeze skirts, too (same reason). Both styles have been discontinued. Except now it’s usually too cool for me to run in a skirt in the mornings. Hello, middle 40s. I have run in skirt (well, raced) in colder weather, but usually low 50s is my limit for skirts. I hope I still fit into them next Summer!

I don’t usually mind if I miss a Monday, but I also do like to run on Mondays because I never know what the week will bring. I was not sorry that Yom Kippur saved me from my third rainy Monday morning run this week.

It’s a bit sad when you feel like your first real rest day in forever is because it’s a religious holiday and you’re fasting. Yom Kippur actually was a rather relaxing day!

What’s bugging you lately — figuratively or literally?

Are you enjoying Fall (if that’s your season)?

  1. Haven’t seen any mosquitoes lately. A good thing.

Sorry about the skirts. You can easily sell them. 32 degrees is my cut off. I run warm. And always wear compression sleeves anyway.

I have every other Monday off from work. So yes. It always rains!!!!

  2. I was surprised to see a mosquito on my arm last weekend. I thought it was too late in the year, but I guess not. Fall has happily arrived here in NC and it’s been so nice with the lower temps and humidity! It’s peak running season for me and I’ve been loving it!

  3. I actually want to sell all of my Skirt Sports stuff. It’s all small. Maybe FB Marketplace?? Sorry the mosquitoes are still so bad. It’s been so dry here they weren’t bad this year but I’m afraid the rain over the past couple of weeks will bring them out.
