There were a couple of snowy runs this week, but yesterday it rained, and the snow is all gone for now. I am much happier without snow!

Running Update

Tuesday Intention: go long-er
I rebooted last week’s plan — try for a couple of long-er runs and one recovery run. The second long-er run never happened last week, hopefully it will this week. You know how I’ve been frustrated that the snow flurries stope when I start to run?
This run wasn’t snow flurries, it was a full-on snow squall for the first half that was not fun (think snow basically pelting you from every direction). It was also an unusual positive splits run, but hey, it happens. I know just how tired I was, and forward is a pace, after all!

Thursday Intention: go long-er
I managed to get in two long-er runs this week, despite the snow, cold, and wind. It was another slow run with positive splits with a “speedy” last mile. I guess I’m just ready to be done by that last mile!

Friday Intention: recover + endurance
The recovery runs have gotten shorter, but I’m still doing them with no walk breaks. This one was a bit on the “speedy” side for recovery, but only a mile and no walk breaks. I was a bit surprised by the pace when I finished, as I’ve been on the slow side this week.

Favorites of the week
We finally ordered the treadmill! At the moment it looks like it might arrive when I won’t be here — hopefully we’ll be able to actually get a time when we’re both home.

My mom doesn’t get moving early in the morning, so I stopped at Bard College, Montgomery Place campus to do a little hiking — I was so happy the bathrooms were open, too! I only had time for a couple of trails, and not sure it’ll stay snow free long enough for me to go back and explore more any time soon, but with the Winters the last few years, it could happen (we get a lot of snow, then it warms up & melts).
I’ve got an appointment for my booster next weekend. It was not easy to get an appointment near me and it wasn’t really on the day I wanted, but I’ll have time to get stuff done before it just in case there’s a reaction — and enough time to recover before I’m at my mom again.
ICYMI: Need some help getting a great night’s sleep? How’s that digestion been? This Restorative Yoga practice will help with both issues! If you have a heating pad or hot water bottle, grab it for this one! Trust me this is a soothing practice that can really help those muscles relax with the addition of heat.

Coming up on Tuesday & Friday: Tuesday I’ll help you keep running through the holidays and Friday it’s time for the big reveal — my word for 2022.
I’m very surprised you had a problem getting an appt. Everyone I know got one right away at CVS or Hannaford. Maybe it’s harder now.
Congrats on your new Treadmill. I’m sure you’re relieved so you don’t have to run outside in the cold.
I’m pretty happy about this week’s weather for a change. It was bad before and after all my runs and races.
Hope this is a trend.

Even though the closest CVS kept coming up, they actually never had appointments available. I didn’t want to drive almost into the city. Appointments were much easier to get a month ago.

My hubby got his at Hannaford on the same day. He procrastinated because they said they were giving it where he works.

I hope you’re successful with the booster. I got mine at CVS and it was no problem at all. I think my kids are ready for boosters now as well. Still no snow beyond some flurries. Not complaining! Bandit looks so comfy!

We’ve had a little snow stick for a short while a couple of times, but then it melts & I am happy. 😊

Yay for ordering a treadmill! Perfect timing before winter truly settles in.
And congrats on getting a booster appointment – they have been super hard to come by around here. Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Thanks, Michelle. The booster appointments were easier to get a month ago when my husband got his. I guess people are trying to do it ahead of the holidays & that’s a good thing!

I hope all goes well with your booster. We just walked into our grocery store pharmacy without an appointment and got it easily (about four weeks ago). Luckily, neither of us had a reaction either. Mom’s pharmacy required an appointment, but I was able to make it just a couple of days before.
I hope you love your treadmill when you finally get it. It’s been a long time coming and looks like you’re getting it just in time for running on snowy days!

Thanks, Debbie! Yes, ear.user, it was MUCH easier to get booster appointments! I do tend to get a reaction (still hoping it won’t be as bad) so I have to plan for that.

I’m going for my booster tomorrow morning, and I’m hoping this goes MUCH better than the other two sticks. I’ve seen a lot of penguins for decorations, too….not sure when they came into Christmas vogue. I might try to fire up Milly later tonight for a Peloton walk. The hubby thinks he successfully “reset” her a few weeks ago, but I have not had any need for her. So, needless to say, my treadmill quest has not been moving in a forward direction.

I hope you have no reaction Kim! It seems to be completely different for everyone!
There were multiple resets on my treadmill. The incline hadn’t worked for years. The timing might not have been ideal but it was just time.

Good luck with the booster! I had a reaction to mine, but I looked at it positively–it meant that I had a good immune boost. I’m all about that since I’m seeing so many Covid+ patients in my clinic these days.

I talked with my dr about reactions meaning a stronger immune system. She said no one really knows. And that you’re protected if you have a reaction or not. Whatever! I could personally live without a reaction!

Sounds like a nice week, even with the snow. My most enjoyable snow ever was in a gently falling snow. I wouldn’t want to be pelted either. Love the waterfall.

Gently falling snow can be so soothing. It was definitely not gentle that day!

Ooh! Can’t wait to hear your word for 2022.
I’m enjoying everyone’s snowy pictures! Although I wouldn’t want to be pelted with it from every direction. It looks cozy from where I’m sitting!
“Forward” is definitely, definitely a pace!

Snow is always cozy from inside. As long as you have power. 🤣

glad you found a treadmill that can arrive soon. Looks like winter is on it’s way to you already. Booster shot seem like they are way easier to get now so hope that goes well for you. Thinking of you and your mom I know it has not been easy lately. Have a great week

Congrats on your new treadmill. With all that snow is not good to run outdoors. We see the snow every 2/3 years and only for 1/2 days.
Here it’s also not easy to get the booster near home, too many requests.
Beautiful pictures.

It’s very unusual for us not to get snow but of course climate change is changing things. Thank you!

That’s so exciting about the new treadmill – I am sure that you will love it!
I’m also getting my booster shot this weekend (Sunday) and it was crazy hard to get the appointment! I didn’t really have a reaction to my other 2 shots so I’m hoping for the same results this time (fingers crossed). Hope your booster shot goes well too!
